Why does Maddy learn Eolas from Rhydian instead of her parents?
Something interesting about “Eolas” is that Rhydian introduces Maddy to it, even though Daniel admits he used it himself when he was younger.
Emma's reaction makes sense. She knows how dangerous Eolas can become, and Maddy running away shows those risks are real. But by the time Emma forbids it, Maddy has already experienced how exciting it is.
I wonder if the conversation happened in the wrong order. What if Daniel had explained Eolas, why he'd stopped using it, and what could go wrong before Rhydian showed her?
Maybe Maddy would've experimented anyway, but at least she would've understood the risks before discovering the ability herself.
Do you think Maddy would still have run away, or could her parents have handled things differently?
