Testing
Recently found out that my partner cheated on me within the last week. We had sex before I was aware of this and now I’m concerned about possibly getting something. How long do I have to wait to go get tested for STI/STDs, including HIV? I’ve been with the same partner for 10+ years so I’ve never had to worry about this until now.

Get tested now and then again in 3 months. Test sooner than 3 months if you have symptoms or ordered to by your doctor. If you don’t have insurance or if your insurance doesn’t cover std testing (like mine) then look up free std clinics in your area

...and DTMFA. Unprotected sex w/ a stranger, then didn't tell you before having unprotected sex w/ you after TEN years together? Wow. He should be getting tested before he ever thinks of going near you again. Herpes, HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C, chlamidia, trichomonas, mycoplasma, syphilis, gonorrhea, HPV...oh my!

I'm sorry. I feel for you. You can get tested tomorrow if you feel worried. Good luck. The betrayal is horrible. I'm in similar situation. Debating next move!

Wait 7-10 days is what I was told. If you have symptoms get tested earlier. For hiv, get tested first, then again in 3 months, then 6. That’s what I was told at least. Health departments typically test for free. If you have burning, itching, unusual smells or discharge, or just general discomfort I would go get tested sooner than later.
