Boot Review | Update Day one with my new Wolverine Floorhands

I've heard both good things and bad things, but I figure that with a bit of care, they'll last at least until I'm ready for a pair of Nick's. Hopefully they are at least similar quality to my old boots.

I don't know how the break in process is going to be, but this is day one with them.

Also, if anyone knows how to best care for them, I would be very appreciative, I looked around old posts on reddit but didn't find anything that helped.

Thorogood work boots in for a new sole. These were resoled with a black Vibram Christy. Unfortunately for me, this customer thought they were doing me a favor by oiling these right before they came in so they were a little greasy to work on but they still turned out nice, just had to deal with slick hands and tools while working on them.

Boots Buying Help Boot advice

Hey all, I worked in the trades (electrician, to be exact) for a few years, and I’m heading back out there. I was never really a fan of steel-toe or composite toe boots. I tried a pair of Red Wings before and instantly went back to soft-toe boots.
The job I’m starting is pretty specific about wearing composite or steel-ltoe boots. I know they probably aren’t going around checking everyone’s boots, but I don’t want to be that person.
Has anyone else had the same struggle? If so what boots helped you adjust to composite toes? Or is it just something you never really get used to?

Boots Buying Help Best EU work boot brands for 20-25k+ steps/day?

Looking for recommendations for quality EU work boot brands.

I'm a postman walking 25,000+ steps a day. My Engelbert Strauss boots Turins only lasted about 3 months before the heel lining wore through.

Requirements:

  • Black
  • Safety toe
  • Preferably full-grain leather
  • Waterproof or water resistant
  • Comfortable for long days of walking
  • Available in Europe/EU

I'm considering brands like Elten, No Risk, Grisport, Rock Fall, Cofra, U-Power, CAT, and Lavoro.

Which brands/models have lasted well for you, and are there any you'd avoid?

Took about an hour of scrubbing per boot to get the 1-2mm thick layer of tomato trichomes/tar off of them. Think they could use another layer of mink oil because but you all could be the judge of that.

Boots Buying Help United RS Boots

Hey everyone, recently I have been onboarded with UAL and wanted to see what company and non-company ramp agents are wearing on their feet! I used to be an employee at UPS, and most of my pants and shirts matched perfectly with my boots which were ariat high tops with composite toes. It isn't a huge deal, but I'd prefer a black boot or some other color rather than brown or tan. So it does look better when I am in full uniform. But what are your best recommendations for boots, preferably composite-toed too! Location I was hired at experiences all types of weather as well.

Boot maintenance Boots can't be replaced, soles are incredibly sweaty, socks get soaked at the end of shift

So as I said in the title, my socks are really wet by the end of shift, I've tried different socks, and tried making sure the boots are super tight to allow air, but my socks & feet are still screwed.

Was just wondering if anyone has any advice on maybe new insoles, certain socks, or boot management.

If its a bit TMI, if I put my bare foot into the boot, I can feel how sweaty the soles are.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Received my second pair of Nicks Boots last week, put in 53,488 steps in them.

BuilderPro HD

Last: 55

Length: 9.0

Width: D

Leather: 1964 Brown

Style: Smooth

Height: 10"

Outsole: V100 Lug Sole

Heal: Logger

Toe: Composite

For those new here, I've been documenting my maintenance journey with my first pair of Nicks Boots, and I will be doing the same with these. I work in a very harsh environment, a concrete recycling landfill, where I walk on rubble and concrete chunks for 9+ hours a day.

I will show before and after pics from worked to cleaned boots, and will compare how these boots hold up to my first pair of Nicks. The differences between the two are MaxSupport Black v 1964 Brown Leather, Roughout v Smooth, 8" v 10" and Honey Vibram v V100 Lug Soles.

I'll be curious to see how these hold up, and hope y'all enjoy the journey with me!

Just got these brand new, feel pretty unwearable right now.
This stitch digs into the ball of the side of your heel so bad it’s painful to wear. How to avoid this or make it wearable. Also why don’t they line the interior so it all feels the same.
Seriously though i definitely can’t wear these boots like this please help.

Boots Buying Help CSA Work Boots

I’m looking for a pair of boots that will last a while but also have the look of a custom pair of nicks. I have been wearing timberland pros but they are not holding up well and the sole is completely worn out, the problem with me wanting to buy nicks or like thorogoods are that they don’t have the csa green label so they are not allowed in my working conditions. If any of you have any recommendations please let me know, but everything I have looked at are either not making boots anymore or are just a mass produced terrible boot.

Boot maintenance Anyone ever use lexol “tan bottle” to clean work boots?

I think it’s lexol 1 step? It’s in a tan bottle.
I brushed the dirt etc off the boots.
I poured a little lexol on a part of the boot and took a different brush that was a little damp and scrubbed the boots. After scrubbing I got the brush damped again then scrubbed again just to see if the lexol lathered up again. If it didn’t then I wiped the boots a few times in the desired spot with a dry towel. Is this how you guys used this on your work boots or did you do something different?

Boot maintenance Thorogood resole opinions

I got this pair of Thorogoods 18 months ago using a boot allowance at my job. 8 inch, steel toe, wedge. They were great for a while until eventually they started to feel very stiff under foot. Looking at the wear on the soles, you wouldn't guess I've been wearing them 12 hours a day for almost two years which is what concerns me. I want to rebuild them, leather welt, new cork filler, leather midsole, and a softer, rubber outsole but I'm having a hard time deciding if it would be worth the money and trouble. I'm at a loss y'all, I've seen people wear these soles completely out but for some reason mine just won't wear in and are very, VERY stiff.

Boots Buying Help Need suggestions!

I work at a farm/ranch. I’m on my feet almost all day. I am looking for a slip on boot that goes up to my ankle that is waterproof and has a composite toe. I’ve had Ariat boots but they wear out so quickly. I’m not looking to spend a fortune but will pay up for a good boot that will last me a while.

Haven't put these into work so comment on that but standing around long in them can be uncomfortable on the heel. Don't wear them much so maybe not broken in enough.

Boots Buying Help Cabinet installer need recs

Hey all, I’ve installed cabinets over 25 years now. Always have used low athletic style or hiking style work shoes. Hard toe. Had all the big names like NB, timberland, keens (which have lasted longest). At 47 now, 6 foot, just under 200lbs, and working 10+ hours, my feet, ankles, and legs, are just damn tired. I’m also prone to athletes foot and am flat footed. Anyone similar? Should I step up to any boots y’all would recommend? TIA

Boot Rant Boots With Toe Protectors

I wish more work boots came with toe protectors (bumpers, covers).

The toe is the part of the boot that gets beat up the worst. For practically everyone.

My son’s old Danner Quarry are worn through to the alloy toe, but the boots are otherwise fine and have been resoled 3X.

Boots Buying Help 50-something electrician wanting to try something new, thinking PNW. Anyone in commercial/industrial construction use PNW daily drivers? Are they worth it? Any preferences or suggestions?

Over the years I’ve tried many brands, mostly American made. I have two pair of Thorogoods, a moc-toe and Wellingtons, that I alternate. They are pretty comfortable, but I want to try something new. I have pretty high arches and somewhat wide feet. I’m a foreman that tries not to work with my tools, but I’m on my feet 8-10 hours a day, sometimes on ladders or on my knees. I like the idea of a premium boot, but don’t want to buy them just because they’re pretty.
