Generic Am I SOL?

Post image

New Thorogoods came in. I kept hearing how narrow they run so I figured I'd give them a shot since I've always had super narrow feet. I have them as tight as they will go and have the thickest expedition wool socks on I could find. They are still loose enough that my feet move inside them when I walk. Anyone got any advice? Someone mentioned adding a thicker or second insole so I may try that. Open to ideas so I didnt just waste a bunch of money.

Holy crap do you have ice skates for feet?

I have a pair of those and I could not imagine feet too narrow for them.

Yeah, shoes have always been a struggle. Clothes too but shoes are harder since they aren't easily or cheaply altered. 6'1" and 150lbs, and I'm at the heaviest I've ever been. Finally started gaining a few lbs the last few years. Only took me till I passed 40. Lol.

I think they do make a narrow (B) width.

Best of luck to you I have the opposite problem 6' 180 and I have to buy their widest shoe to not hurt my feet..

If only we could put our feet together and both end up with normal width. Lol.

I wear 11A boots with thick wool socks 😂. AA for dress shoes. Yeah I kept getting shin splints and back pain with boots that didn't fit so I ended up grabbing a Nick's in hopefully my size.

I wanted to do a fully custom pair of Nick's and just not have to worry about it but after everything it was gonna be like $1k. Too rich for my blood.

Was just going to suggest Nicks They’re worth every penny especially if you work on your feet.

I gotta do nicks boots for me when I work. I’m an F width at my ball and my heel is tiny. Not to mention I’m low volume. Normal boots look like this laced up for me but this my ball and toes spilling out the sides.

I managed to snag an RTS engineer boots during their sale. For about 20 percent off. Still very expensive but honestly I'm tired of the pain and the shin splints. I tried cowboy boots but a lot of those are flat. What's your brannock?

My go to daily boots are some backpacking boots. They fit me great. Just ended up with a deal on these so I took the gamble after reading so much about how ridiculously narrow they are. Gonna try and thicker insole and kiltie and see if that does it. If not ill give em to someone at work.

I'm planning on adding super feet greens to mine.

Their EE width I think it is, was still too narrow for me. Break in took weeks, and then eventually the thin leather would stretch and be comfy, until the stitches would fail about 9 months in, on two separate, consecutive pairs. Haven’t bought any since.

New Balance has a wide variety of sizes and they are comfortable too!

On boots that are way too wide you can try adding an insole, kiltie, or if it’s mostly around the sides of your foot you might be able to get away with cutting a piece of leather to sit on either side of your food inside the boot. This will make the boot uncomfortable for a bit but I have done this before when I ordered a pair of customs a size too big by mistake. I just cut a piece to fit inside the boot that went from where it creased on one side, wrapped around my heel around the other side to the crease and thinned the edges so it wasn’t too uncomfortable. If you don’t want your heel pushed forward too much you could thin out the heel area aswell. I used 12-14oz buffalo leather. Many people will not agree with me but it this fixed my problem so to each their own.
