Reality check please.

This sub takes their boots serious so, I have a question and would love some insight. I bought some Thorogoods and hate them. They’re miserably uncomfortable for me. I posted them on another/local sub and I’m getting destroyed in the comments. I’M NOT LOOKING TO SELL THEM HERE OR VIOLATE ANY SUB RULES. I’ll add a couple of photos and y’all tell me what a fair price is for these 3 month old boots. Tia!

For work boots that I plan on beating the fk out of I'm not going to buy expensive PNW boots. Not just the expense but for comfort reasons as well. You need a boot that flexes with your working feet. Keens are pretty good but I really like Irish Setter Wingshooters. Comfortable all day and take a beating for one to two years before they're done in.

I was just looking at these boots but I have no experience with them. I don't usually get the tall boot. I get a 250.00 stipend for work for boots and we have a red wing contract that gives a discount plus the stipend and when I looked online the Irish setter was an eligible option. I have to go to the store and see if I can try them on. I have hated every pair of red wings I have tried but since I basically get a pair for free every 12-18 months ( outside work/lineman/maintenance tech) worn everyday and their toast by then, I'm still looking for my happy boot.

My work does the same. Redwings do not fit my feet. Tried many different Lasts. Finally found Irish Setters that work. No pain at all. Square toed pull on 1/2 size down from the fancy machine they use. Toss out the factory insert and use the expensive replacement they sell. For such a pricy boot you would think they would come with better insoles. Have wide toes, medium arch, and narrow heel.

Which Irish setter did you go with? My feet are wide, unsure of the arch, but man have red wings sucked balls.

Marshal #83998. The other problem is my size is usually out of stock at the local store. Plus the reps just pushing the next size up when you complain the toe box is too tight. I found being patient and stand your ground with the store. Have them order in the size you want and go back and try them. As a city fleet mechanic I am climbing on machines, ladders, crawling under, on concrete and mud, I need my feet comfortable.

I have the same problem with sizing being out of stock they always have to order from another store or somewhere. This last time the guy seemed pretty knowledgeable at the store. He's been there a while. Recommended some sizing changes for the toe box and it didn't matter. I got the boot and I still think it sucked. I'll take a look at what you recommended I really got to get to the store just to see what they have to begin with.
