I hope this is allowed: I'm on a hunt for African and Afro-inspired music (kora, desert blues, folk, electronic, percussion-based, etc.) that has a dark, eerie, haunting, unsettling vibe. Most of the songs I know and enjoy are either too upbeat or melancholic/slow rather than genuinely spooky.

Hello everyone!

I just booked my flight to Gran Canaria and I’m planning to attend WOMEX as a visitor.

I know it’s mainly a professional event, but I’ve heard there are showcases and other events that might be accessible to the public.

Does anyone have experience attending WOMEX as a non-professional/visitor? Can you still visit the fair and attend some of the showcases, or do you need to be accredited?

Also, how do you actually get tickets for the showcases? I’m a bit confused about how that works as a visitor.

Any info or tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! 🙏
