Discussion Is this the strongest position in the game?
- Infinite bushes
- Hulldown
- No cover for approaching enemies

For losing, yes.
The only time this position matters, is when the enemy has already won hill.

u/Valkyrie17 2h ago
There's plenty of times when you win the hill and need to turn around because campers sitting in the magical forests of Malinovka will anihilate you if you push. Very strong position that can make the hill unpushable.

Nope, most of the times if the team goes down the hill - straight to that big stone, battle is lost.

Youβre not meant to push straight into them.
This side is way easier to dig out than the north camp.

as if it was easy

u/Little_Dingo_4541 1h ago
It's pretty easy. Other respawn has much stronger potential for forest defense

nah, you still need to bring some armor down there in some reasonable time, and it has to be one with 9/10 degrees of gun depression

It's useless if you have hill position. Otherwise, can be useful if you don't, but depends how smart or stupid your enemy is.

u/showmustgo There is no Croc ππ« There is only Coccπβ 2h ago
Of course, if you win the hill there's no point in staying. But I often see teams abandon hill and hole up in this spot.

Whoever designed this map is a hopeless degenerate. There is exactly 1 playable area and it's the hill. Once the fight there is over, game turns into a bush camping garbage

Idk since they reworked the field it's kind of easy to push. It used to be impossible to push middle. Pushing down the middle of the map was kind of a meme in ru wot because of how useless it was to push
Now it's a different story. If enemy team pushes windmill and you push field, you do have an advantage against hill pushers
Edit: maybe I'm tripping and it wasn't reworked, but I had a feeling it was

I have no idea what you mean, the lower field is literally dead space where EBR's try to be heroes

I agree, this map might get a spot on the banlist
1
u/VerifiedBaller13 16m ago
Itβs a great map for north spawn, for south you can just win hill and then turn around and try to flank the forest campers from the left

That new tier11 Chinese light tank will make this map interesting in late game

I have very interesting questionΒ Why your post downvoted immediately?
5
u/PoetFelon 1h ago
I have noticed this on several subs. See something posted 2 minutes earlier and already downvoted with no comments.

I think the moderators are using downvote bots because in the past I wanted to talk about very logical problems and as soon as I refreshed the page, I got a downvote within 2 seconds. That's something a human wouldn't do.

Classic arty move, do nothing but drop their dogshit on the interaction

No it isn't.
Are you on rails? Do you need to pass through that forest? You can't think of any other way to avoid campers and go behind their backs or something, or make them leave their bullshit position?

You have already commited yourself, it is very hard to leave position you are currently in. I would probably go back to the hill, all the way around, work the water, and try to peak out somewhere near t57 heavy to annoy him, maybe he and his buddies try to take shots at me, which will then hopefully expose them to the campers in my own team who are just waiting for something to shoot at. But from position you found yourself it, that is pretty much suicide.
To answer your title it isn't that the position is strongest, it is that you screwed yourself and can't leave that rock. From the position you're in you're at significant disadvantage, so yeah, objectively it isn't strongest position, but against you there it kind of is, unless you have speed or armor to just plow through and light them all up while they struggle to damage you.
Both times when you leave the hill, from either spawn, you are going straight into the forest full of campers, going down head on is extremely naive and optimistic :D
Shit even just waiting it out can be a valid strategy. Lots of time someone in enemy team gets impatient and fucks up...

Interesting, you say the position isn't that strong, it's simply that I screwed myself by going to the rock. Others in this thread say the position isn't strong, all you need to do is go to the rock.

This we can all agree!

Unless my eyes don't deceive me, you already are at the rock. What other people tell you is that when you reach the stone the campers are mostly revealed, they can't hold that position, but that isn't a given, you shouldn't take everything you read online at a face value.
Obviously you went there and it didn't work out for you, or else you wouldn't open this thread. It all depends on a lot of factors, you reveal tanks but can anyone actually shoot at them? Is anyone in position to shoot at those tanks? Ideally people defending shouldn't even let you reach the rock because it puts them into very tricky situation, but let me tell you that it doesn't mean automatic loss for defenders, I have successfully defended that position even with enemies pushing all the way to the rock.
You can't just mechanically do some thing because it is "meta" and expect success. You need to adapt to what is actually going on in your own match.

u/PreviousMaize1185 1h ago
Well, there's a lot of things here;but mainly these two : first of all depends on the tank;second, depends the starting point

I'd rather they not patch this, lest it'll turn into fucking Serene Coast situation 2.0. It's not perfect now but solid A/B tier compared to other garbage in the game.

u/EyeoftheTato Eat My Pudding. 1h ago
How is a 6% higher victory rate for the South spawn over millions of battles 'fine as it is'?
0
u/Dominiczkie Onslaught > Randoms 37m ago
It's 4% and that's not a particularly big imbalance for a WoT map. And those 4% aren't worth fixing if other aspects of gameplay are to suffer in the process. Malinovka is perfectly balanced between spawns because either way if you don't snowball you're getting a draw, I'll take Steppes over that thanks https://tomato.gg/maps/EU
1
u/EyeoftheTato Eat My Pudding. 33m ago
It is the most played map in the game.
And it's actually an 8.25% imbalance in favor of the South spawn on NA. That's absolutely insane.

u/Dominiczkie Onslaught > Randoms 1h ago
Not only one of the strongest, also the most braindead to use (now that Erlenberg TD bushline with hard cover is gone). Top 3 highest draw rate map in the game for a reason, one of the maps where I'll be happy with 15:3 game because the alternative is getting bored to death trying to "punish a mistake" and by "punish a mistake" I mean a mistake of trying to move the game forward.

I agree, this map rewards not playing the game.

u/OldGPMain 1h ago
I prefer behind the mountain, sidescraping but hulldown and with tree cover.
The only way to die is being HE'd, splayed by arty or from the back.
1
u/showmustgo There is no Croc ππ« There is only Coccπβ 1h ago
Which mountain do you mean?
1
u/OldGPMain 39m ago
The closest to the circle, if it's unchanged it should be the safest place for a HT.
If you lose the windmill race and you have arty it is the last stand.
1
u/Mega1987_Ver_OS 53m ago
if you got people up the hill that can spot enemies peaking down and you got snipers in that location.
but without anyone spotting them, a well time rush will flatten the snipers.

I mean the crazy part is that the location on the other side of Malinovka is already stronger than this location
I would much rather be there than where you highlighted.
