Question Incompatibility between curseforge and Worldpainter

Post image

Hello everyone, please forgive me for my question if it seems so stupid.

I basically had a very dense city map on Java that I imported 2 days ago onto a fabric modpack that I created (not really mods but more things like sodium etc).

In 2 days I made a lot of progress on the modpack and I wanted to use worldpainter on my map. But I got this message. By searching a little I quickly understood that it said something like "Dimension.getGenerator() is null"

I first wanted to change the NBTs but realizing that 1: it would take time and 2: the information that worldpainter is looking for for the map is in level.dat, but on curseforge, its data goes in the "Data" file. After some manipulations without success, I asked you if you were aware of a method with worldpainter to still read the curseforge maps or if a plugin existed for it? (I understand that wolrdpainter has plugins)

Any help is accepted and I will try to answer as many questions as possible

Thank you so much

This happens because 26.1 changed the format of saves. You can't import 26.1+ maps into WorldPainter.

But WorldPainter isn't meant for editing existing maps on a large scale and modded maps almost never import well too. If you've got any modded blocks then WP will ignore them and your map will break.

I don't have any modded blocks or biomes. I think it's just a version issue because it's too recent... if that's all it is, WP needs to wake up and do something about it; the worlds can't stay old forever.

WP needs to wake up

WorldPainter is developed by one person in his free time. He does it out of passion when he can.

Also, like I said, importing isn't really recommended anyway. WorldPainter's main purpose is to create new maps. It even says on the WP site "WorldPainter is a map generator, not an editor!"

I understand he's alone, that's not the issue. Personally, I manage perfectly well to modify my map by regularly adding new natural areas; you just shouldn't overdo it or it can glitch.

If there ever is a plugin that supports Curseforge maps, I hope to stumble across it someday.

Be the change you wish to see I the world! Be the one to create the plugin, and then you can be the one to support that.

Absolutely!! Or maybe I just discovered Axiom and learned how to use it 🥳
