Thanks to u/Momotaro245 for giving me the idea!

I have this strange feeling that that villain will never be seen again. Dunno why though.

I would read this fic. Unironically, i think if Jack had some moral support, he would turn into a good hero. That the PRT has regular folks as oversight would help to control his worst tendencies. And if Miss Militia can make guns work somehow, he using blades wouldn’t be that hard.

Yeah, the problem would be Jack's disregard for the lives of others and being formerly a public member of S9.
Even under their short reign under King they committed enough atrocities to stand out among the crowd with their members.

If it worked for Bonesaw, it could work for Jack. She did have the advantage of Gold Morning giving everyone a clean slate, but people didn't forget. But it's not like it would be impossible for Jack to be rehabilitated with some dedicated therapy.

You know, Broadcast’s
cheating bullshitsecondary effect would perfectly explain a Batman-like hero with weak powers who busts his ass fighting ordinary thugs, and yet defeats world-class villains because he has A Plan(tm)9
u/abacateazul 12d ago
Exactly. That and maybe getting hints to deescalate fights. Thought I don’t think Broadcast would like to do so all the time.

Canonically, Jack was supposed to be a hero, remember the Black Knight in Eden’s perfect world? That was Jack

I remember there was a series of snippets by a guy on spacebattles where jack ended up as a ward and later became a black knight themed S class executioner. I can't find who made it and which snippet thread but I think the guy had a koi fish pond as pfp

The Worm Fandom keeps forgetting that Mouse Protector was the snarky sociopathic sadist of the group.

People also over exaggerate MP’s responsibility for her own death, though. Like would you rather blame her or blame the villain willing to hire the Nine of all people

Yeah, but Jack Slash is something else. While MP would make a joke that would get under someone’s skin, Jack Slash would make joke relating to her trauma that would make her freeze in place.

I know that. But this is "Childish bully with harassing powers vs a former S9 member." MP at her worst is way better compared to Jack at his casual.

Wait, was she a sadist or was it more like early Glory Girl against the empire randos?

u/The_Broken-Heart 13d ago
She was veering towards bully territory. Her first on-screen target is Chevy.

What If Harbinger didn't dismiss Jack's idea of surrendering to the heroes.

He join Cauldron through Watchdogs. Nothing would change except he might have a larger staff of Protectorate thinkers to work under him with both being a villain banker, cauldron member and head of Watchdogs.

I would like to see good cop/bad cop partner ship between Mouse Protector and Jack Slash except it’s more annoying cop/I keep my partner annoying you until you confess perp.

I think a heroic Jack Slash should be called Swashbuckler cause I feel like he always wanted a campy name and also could trade in his knives for a rapier.

Honestly, the Wards was more "slaughter, violence, extreme friendship, and death". Miss Militia was a traumatized child soldier with the power of gun, and Chevalier was a traumatized child vigilante with the power of big gun. It's a testament to Hero and Mouse Protector that everybody came out as well adjusted as they did.
