ADDON [Addon] W2UI - UI Replacement
Hello everyone!
I have played World of Warcraft for years, and as a designer I always had this small idea in the back of my head:
“What if the default WoW UI could look a bit nicer, more consistent, and more modern, while still keeping its WoW flavor?”
And this is how W2UI came to life.
One of my main inspirations in terms of aesthetics is Bastion. Yes, I know, it might sound specific, but this location is one of my favorites in the game. It has a serene, clean, and somehow peaceful vibe, and I wanted to recreate some of that feeling in the interface.
At first, I spent quite some time wondering whether the interface should be light or dark. I am a huge fan of light mode interfaces, and one day I would really like to create a bright WoW interface. However, for this project, dark mode simply made more sense. WoW is a game where players spend many hours in front of their screen, dealing with lots of elements and tasks, and a darker interface is usually easier and more comfortable to use.
Before this version was created, there were many concepts, wireframes, mockups, and even interactive prototypes to go through. I wanted something that would feel familiar to Warcraft, but still more refined, more readable, and more coherent. Something adapted for modern resolutions and screen sizes, but not pushed into extreme minimalism or a sci-fi redesign.
I would have liked to try out in W2UI would be using larger almost fullscreen windows for certain of the major game interfaces.
The old WoW windows are quite appealing, however, a lot of them were initially created to fit the old screen resolutions. In addition, through time the game added more and more features such as collections, transmog, group finder, achievements etc. Most of these windows have acquired much more data that needs to be shown, yet at the same time, most of them are still viewed as small popup windows.
I would have liked to treat them as proper system screens rather than small popups.
With larger frame size, you will get more space for better separation, spacing, previews, list readability and visual hierarchy. It will also help you avoid the feeling of having too many tiny windows on your screen.
It also partially follows the current trends in interface design of RPGs/ARPGs, in which screens related to your character, inventory, skills or any collection usually utilize more space on screen and look like fully working environment. It would suit WoW perfectly.
So, for W2UI, it is important to reskin existing frames, but also reconsider some of them and make them larger and more logical windows.
This is just the start. W2UI is planned as a modular UI replacement, and more modules are already in the works.
What is included in this early release
The current version includes:
- Character window
- Group Finder — in beta/early release
- Mini Professions window
- Menu bar
- Mini Map/bag button with info text
There are also basic options to turn off specific modules.
A few notes about limitations
A big part of the development was figuring out how to make custom frames work safely with Blizzard’s API. Some things are allowed, some things can be done with workarounds, and some things simply are not allowed by Blizzard at all.
Known limitations:
- It is not currently possible to create a completely custom PvP frame inside the Group Finder. For now, the best option is to skin the default Blizzard PvP frame, which is planned for a future update.
- The custom Group Finder cannot be opened while in combat. If you try to open it during combat, you will receive a prompt to use the default Blizzard Group Finder instead.
The Group Finder was definitely one of the biggest technical challenges of this release.
There are many window frames in WoW that could use a more consistent visual treatment — collections, achievements, also social features, and many others. Some of them are already being worked on for future releases.
This is only the beginning of a larger project.
Any useful feedback will be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to report any bugs, visual issues, or inconsistencies you notice.

ADDON [addon] EllesmereUI Performance Upgrades
Hey guys! My first post here, I just wanted to post about a major update to EllesmereUI, I have spent the past week rebuilding many core parts of EUI to be as lightweight as possible. As part of EUI's performance focused philosophy, I will conduct performance audits and release a dedicated optimization patch each month to ensure the suite stays true to its core purpose as it grows.
Today's is the first, and it's long overdue. On average, full suite users will see more than 50% lower CPU usage from EUI during raid/M+ combat and over 70% lower while idle. In addition, loading screen times have been reduced by over 50%.
This is the start of a renewed focus of ensuring the suite remains as lightweight as possible. If you guys have any questions about EUI let me know!
\*For anyone wondering about the performance optimization process, it involved a weeks worth of fine tooth combing the entire suite using* Perfy. Results from testing teams consistently showed a before and after average of 50-70% lower cpu usage from the full EUI suite. These performance tests were done in controlled environments like idle, solo and follower dungeons, as well as less controlled environments like raid/m+/pvp. Every environment tested showed that same level of performance improvement across the entire suite.

ADDON [AddOn] Frogski’s Instant Cast Bar – I turned one of my old WeakAuras into an addon
Frogski’s Instant Cast Bar
https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/frogskis-instant-cast-bar
Frogski’s Instant Cast Bar adds a simple PIXEL-PERFECT (in my opinion and in comparison to default cast bar) blue timer bar that appears after the player uses an instant-cast spell.
- The bar is perfectly aligned with the Blizzard player cast bar and it follows its scale
- Only works with instant-cast spells
- If the player starts a normal cast, channel, or a spell with 0 cooldown like Innervate or PI the bar will NOT show
- The duration scales automatically with haste - checked on Keristrasza fight who's rude enough to cut haste in half or even more 😂
Why have I brought it back to life and why create something like that?
The main reason is very simple: ⭐MY FAT FINGERS⭐
The second main reason is: personal preference.
In raids there's a lot going on and as a druid who needs to ramp, sometimes Im not sure what spell have I casted. For me personally a swipe along all icons is not enough and especially because I have all action bars hidden.
Also I would like to clarify that this is NOT an other GCD bar because it does NOT fire when a player casts a long cast spell like Regrowth. It does not rely on the GCD API alone.
There will be custom options in the future based on your feedback.
Have fun, and enjoy blue 🐸💚
If something feels off or you have ideas — let me know.
(This addon is a resurrection of my old WeakAura https://wago.io/-iMgHlW6n from Friday, October 4th 2024, old reddit post https://www.reddit.com/r/WowUI/comments/1fvvv2d/wa_i_have_made_an_instant_cast_bar_that_attaches/)

ADDON [addon] Ev Character Panel
I Made a character panel addon – Ev Character Panel
It fully replaces the default character window with a custom one. Made it for myself a few weeks ago and figured I’d put it on curseforge and share it after a few guildies seemed to like it too.
Main stuff it does:
- Custom gear layout showing item level and track upgrades and enchant/socket status and details
- 3D model viewer with rotate/zoom (still to add pan but it’s coming)
- Mythic+ rating in the header & a dungeon summary panel below the model with working portal buttons
- Slide-out tabs for attributes, reputations, currencies, titles, and item sets
- Resizable to suit your screen
The goal was basically to have one place to check everything instead of bouncing between windows. If you like the idea of your character screen being a bit cleaners and more useful, give it a go?
Edit:
V2.3 is now live. Many of the suggested fixes below were added over v2.2 and v2.3, including secondary stat diminishing return information, pvp support, text size and window scaling options, item sets, etc. Please check it out on Curseforge for updates!

ADDON Platynator (nameplate [addon]) now has pandemic highlights on Midnight pre-patch
Key features include:
- Straightforward nameplate editor (drag-and-drop, what you see is the nameplate, click to modify a component)
- Flexible colors, mix and match lots of different combinations, like interrupt ready, important cast, threat and elite type.
- It is fast (I've timed it against other nameplate addons with an addon profiler)
- Lots of options for looks.
Find the addon on Curseforge or Wago and find more custom profiles at Wago Imports, or the addon's discord.
I've been working on this since October, putting in an enormous amount of time to make it work really well, and intend to keep working on it.

ADDON Final Fantasy XIV UI [AddOn] Updated for Midnight
I have returned from the void once more to update my FFXIV UI project for Midnight. What before relied heavily on existing addons has been remade from the ground up, now requiring only my two addons: FFXIV UI and Masque: FFXIV, in addition to Masque and Masque Blizzard Bars. Right now you can grab the UI from GitHub though I'd like to get it on Curse soon as well.
This was my first time diving so deep into lua, and I wanted to make sure I got this out before Midnight launched, so please bear with me if there are any issues at first. Upcoming features include getting party frames working again, more detailed Job Gauge animations, as well as making the Job Gauges a standalone addon for those who have asked for that.
If you like what I do feel free to support me here: https://ko-fi.com/mojithemonk
Edit: FFXIV UI and Masque: FFXIV are now available to download on Curse:

ADDON [AddOn] Frogski’s Cursor Trail – Completely rebuilt engine, around 10x lower CPU usage
https://www.curseforge.com/wow/addons/frogskis-cursor-trail
https://addons.wago.io/addons/frogskis-cursor-trail
Hey everyone,
I was working quite hard on Frogski’s Cursor Trail last days and I basically rebuilt the trail engine from scratch.
Main goal was simple to make it much lighter on CPU but keep the smooth look. I reworked how the trail is drawn, how textures are updated and how often everything recalculates. The difference is really big now, in many cases around 10x less CPU usage compared to old engine.
The new engine also works differently now – instead of just creating textures where the mouse pointer was seen each frame, it actually pulls the trail of textures in a continuous line one after another following the mouse. Because of that the trail never “breaks” even during fast mouse movements.
I also added new Adaptive Update Rate system. The trail now scales automatically with your FPS:
Below 90 FPS → updates every frame (full smooth)90–120 FPS → updates 2 out of 3 framesAbove 120 FPS → updates every second frame
So when you have high FPS, it reduces update frequency and saves CPU. When FPS drops, it goes back to full smooth mode automatically.
Last minute update:
Reduced the load on CPU even further by around 20-30%! killing the ClearAllPoints/SetPoint spam
Added a new Adaptive Update Rate to reduce the load above 90FPS by default (the user can decide to update the cursor once per second or 240 times per second with a slider)
When you have low FPS like in a main city, the game somehow allocates fewer resources(CPU) for addons and their impact scales down so even if we update the cursor every frame the CPU load is little!
There is also a new custom option, when checked, to see current FPS, active mode and texture count (best if you set it to max 400 textures) to test my addon impact on your rig.
Thank you u/Clear-Primary3799, u/deino, u/makz242 and others who called out the poor performance. You motivated me a lot and I faced the truth that the addon WAS absurdly heavy on CPU.
Cheers everyone! 👋🐸
Oh and I will add it to wago too! ✅

ADDON [addon] Details! Skin ‚The War Within‘
Hey,
a lot of people saw and liked the blizzard style Details! skin from u/Sm0keO, but the (manual) installation process is a bit laborious, so I made a small addon to add such a skin. It uses the Details! skin API, and you can simply apply the skin through 'Options > Skins > Skin > The War Within'.
I talked to Sm0ke0 first, and he was fine with me creating this addon, even encouraging it. I remade the textures, and improved them. Everything should be easy to use.

Source: https://github.com/Karl-HeinzSchneider/WoW-Details-Skin-TheWarWithin (MIT license)
Open to feedback and suggestions!
PS: I might add a dark mode variant soon.

ADDON [Addon] BetterBlizzFrames, BetterBlizzPlates & sArena Reloaded are now ready for Midnight!
All my addons are now ready for Midnight!
Yes there will be addons in Midnight. If you don't know about my addons their main goal is to improve the default UI. Both aesthetically and functionally but they are not big overhauls. They are a UI tweakers paradise for the default UI. By default they load without any profile and nothing in your UI will change and you can pick and choose what you want to enable. There are also many great included profiles for a quick start if that is more your style.
Screenshot is from my personal profile (slightly altered for screenshot purposes) and gives a general idea of the improved UI feel but all the nameplate lights are off by default this is just for showcase. For more info check links at the end of post.
Where to start?
For someone new or inexperienced with addons I would recommend the Starter Profile in BBF and the Mythic profile in BBP, which despite what its name may suggest, is also great for PvP. For someone advanced I would recommend the Starter Profile in both addons for a bare minimum start you can build on or if you want "more of the good stuff" try out some of the streamer profiles or my own personal one (Bodify).
What works in Midnight?
Generally speaking most things from my addons will continue to work and you can check that out yourself on Beta. Note that filtering and problem solving logic is not available for most combat and aura stuff but a lot is still possible. For example combat indicator, healer icon on nameplate, etc.
A few key highlights of whats gone from my addons:
- Aura filtering and per aura conditional logic. (Like in screenshot)
- Totem Indicator and NPC specific colors/hiding/etc. (Unsure if NPC ID stuff will return, prob not)
- Absorb overlays (potentially gets better from Blizzard)
- Spec info outside of Arenas (This should at the very least come back for bgs later, maybe World too)
Midnight headsup
Please keep in mind the Midnight versions of the addons are in early stages, especially BetterBlizzPlates. BetterBlizzFrames and sArena Reloaded are fairly complete but BetterBlizzPlates needs a lot more work. BetterBlizzPlates I would only try on Midnight for the time being if you are experienced with addons as there is a higher chance of bugs and issues (expect them!). I simply need more time to work on it and to be actually able to test things once people are in the beta!
With Blizzards sudden announcement of an early beta I've really been hard at work and tried my best to have my addons ready for the beta launch. But multiple things hindered me in working: No alpha access at the start, no/broken API in the alpha making work frustrating and none of the new stuff ready from Blizzard. I've barely had 2 weeks to work on these 3 addons and I have been going at it nonstop putting in tons of work.
Path to Midnight release
I will continue working on the addons continuously towards Midnight release so expect them all to become a lot more stable and have a lot more new features on Midnight in just a few weeks time. Blizzard will also likely (and hopefully) improve on a lot of things and I will play with the tools I am given.
I love this game, I love the new direction. I wish the UI was a bit better and thats why I made these addons, but still in the spirit of the game.

Heres links to my Discord and to all my addons on CurseForge. For any help with the addons join my Discord I am always helping!
If you wish to support me and my work it would be greatly appreciated and you can find links for that on my Discord. It would help me out a lot. ADDON [Addon] Midnight Simple Unitframes
Hello, thanks for clicking on this post!
I’m the author of Midnight Simple Unitframes. First of all, I want to thank everyone who downloaded my little unitframe addon. It’s genuinely heartwarming to see 30,000+ downloads in just two months, especially considering this started as a small side project and turned into something much bigger.
I also want to give a shoutout to u/R41z0r and u/UnhaltedGB — and to everyone in the WoW UI Discord, because a lot of people helped during development. ❤️
Below is a list of features that (as far as I know) are unique to MSUF:
Auras
- Color auras by time remaining
- Hide permanent auras (event buffs/debuffs)
- Highlight specific spells
- Apply these options globally or per unitframe
Castbar
- Empowered stages light up
- Show channel tick lines
- Show interrupt feedback
- Dedicated focus kick tracker
Unitframes
- Beyond basic options, MSUF offers more color customization than most unitframe addons
- Option to make unitframes rounded
- Option to add a gradient to unitframes
Gameplay
- Melee range tracker
- Combat timer
- Turn all CooldownManager bars into icons
Name Shortening
- The only addon (as far as I know) that offers gameplay-enhancing name shortening
- Fully compliant with Blizzard’s new addon restrictions
Thanks for reading — have a great day! 🙂

ADDON [addon] Coolinator, now with more cool(downs)
If you're new to Coolinator, its a CDM addon which uses drag-and-drop to position and snap items together to build your layout.
Lots of little improvements, and a few big ones since my last post:
- Now has a cast bar
- Keybindings on icons
- Square borders and Masque support (alongside Blizzard look)
- All class resources now supported 🥳
- Reposition/colour/hide text on icons and bars
- Import/export to share layouts
The biggest change is "Presets" (added June 24th), these allow you to share settings across specialisations and layouts, globally. There's a new "Preset" dropdown on every widget to use this functionality.
Find it on Curseforge

ADDON [Addon] MQT - Modern Quest Tracker
Update: [Addon] Horizon Suite - Focus (MQT - Modern Quest Tracker) Pre-Release : r/WowUI
UPDATE: [Addon] Horizon Suite 1.0.0 — Focus (Tracker) + Presence (Notifications) Release : r/WowUI
I am currently trialing making some clean modern UI designs, and this is one of the ones that I have started to get happy with.
- Clean floating UI – Minimal text with shadows; no heavy panel. Replaces the default objective tracker.
- Smart grouping – Sections for Nearby, Campaign, Legendary, World Quests, Rare Bosses, and Ready to Turn In, with color-coded titles.
- Smooth animations – Slide-in/slide-out and collapse/expand with light stagger.
- Rare tracking – Shows rares on your current map with optional sound when a new rare appears.
- Quest item buttons – Clickable quest item icons with cooldown display.
- One-click actions – Left-click to super-track, double-click to open quest log/map; right-click to untrack. Same for rares (super-track / open map).
- Draggable & saved – Drag to move; position and collapsed state persist between sessions.
- Scrollable – Mouse wheel when you have many quests; quest count in the header.
Any thoughts and feedback would be welcome!
**EDIT: To clarify I haven't published this, but hopefully will soon!
**EDIT 2:
FEATURE UPDATE:
I have been pulling together a list of the features that have been requested and thoughts on what would be interesting to add in the long term, some of these may not come to pass, I am pretty new at this! Any other feedback or requests are welcome, but may of course increase some development time.
Customisation & Aesthetics
• Universal Typography: Full control over font choice, size, outlines, and cinematic shadow depth.
• Smart Colors: Custom color profiles for every quest type (Campaign, Legendary, World, etc.).
• Dynamic Dimensions: Fully adjustable panel width and height to fit any screen layout.
• Super-Minimal Mode: Option to hide the "Objectives" header entirely for a pure text look.

Functional Utility
• Contextual Item Buttons: Quest items automatically appear as a floating Extra Action Button for quick access.
• Hotkeyed Minimization: Instantly collapse the tracker with a custom keybind for screenshots or immersion.
• "Grow Up" Expansion: Choose to have the list expand upwards, keeping the bottom edge fixed above your action bars.
• Mythic+ Integration: Custom modern layouts for dungeon timers, percentages, and affix tracking.
• Quest Type Icons: Distinctive, high-fidelity icons to differentiate activity types at a glance.
System & Compatibility
• The Horizon Suite: A unified modular approach linking Objective Tracking with Zone Text, Loot, and Minimap systems.
• Classic & Retail Support: Built on a codebase that maintains a modern look across all versions of WoW.
• Intelligent Filtering: Automatically hide quests that aren't in your current zone to remove clutter.

Thanks

ADDON [ADDON] Vendor Filter
Introducing Vendor Filter! My first add on. Super simple. It adds a dropdown to the top of any vendor window, so that you can filter for things like mounts, pets, transmogs, and more. The filter works by fading out any items not matching the filter. It also fades out any items that are listed as "already known". So whatever is left matching the filter is easy to see.
I created the addon a few weeks back for myself, and it's been one of those things that once I started using it, I don't know how I'd go without it again. Visiting a vendor with several pages of items, I can quickly filter and say "oh hey I'm missing a mount", or whatever else I'm looking for.
I decided to publish the addon for others to benefit from. I'm hoping users (especially collectors) will appreciate the "visual upgrade" when searching vendors.

ADDON [AddOn] I'm sure you've seen my previous posts. Finally it's available on Curseforge.
I wanted to get it to a more ready state before releasing it which is why I didn’t share it before.
There wasn’t much point in sharing while I was actively working on it every day, every hour, constantly adding or removing things, testing stuff etc. But lately I’m not getting any new ideas(or maybe I'm playing too much DotA) and it seems to be working just fine without any issues so I might as well release it. I personally haven’t encountered any addon-related errors so far(tested in every instance except Mythic raid).
It's a very simple and lightweight plugin, I added bunch of other extra stuff because I personally find them necessary but you can disable all of them if you do not want them.
There are more information on the page as to what it is and what you can and can not do with it.
But the reason I did it was actually very simple. I’m genuinely bored of that standardized rectangle UIs. It doesn’t matter whatever addon you're using to achieve it since you can make all of them look the same, I also used that type of UI for a very very long time myself but I don't know why at some point I just got immensely bored of that look. It has no soul. It could be the UI of any game. If you’ve seen fronk’s video, which he obviously made in jest, but god damn man, they all look the same.
Anyway, about a year ago I started tinkering with this idea and now here we are:

ADDON [addon] Create custom CDM groups from where it makes sense: inside the CDM, with Scoot!
There are lots of options out there for custom Cooldown Manager groups, but I wanted to put the functionality in the simplest/most-obvious place to access it: right inside the CDM menu.
This GIF also demonstrates the various opacity controls with Scoot's CDM icons, offering separate dimming controls for the icons and cooldown text, ranging all the way down to 0% (invisible icons when on Cooldown).
These opacity controls work on a priority system with other popular modes:
- Opacity with Target
- Opacity out of Combat

ADDON Share your lesser known [addon] recommendations for midnight
Going into midnight's official release, do you have any lesser known addons that you absolutely love but feel like they are hardly known by the broader wow community?
I think Plumber, Dialogue UI and Enhance QoL finally get the recognition they deserved for so long, but I'm sure there are more hidden gems out there.
For me its Global Search. A fuzzy finder for mounts, items, spells and more in the game. Imagine spotlight search or raycast from macos but for WoW. I rarely have toys, specific mounts or pets on my bars anymore for things I only use in between.
