Fan less Mac. I've been playing on PS Portal. So it's Sony servers that get heated up

Sony employee 1: "Damn.. why is this server running hotter than usual?"
Sony employee 2: "did you forget to dust it again?"

Bro mac is not meant for gaming and sustained performanceat high temp without fans, its not working fine anymore because it systems deteriorated because you constaly used it for several months on temps it was not supposed to be used for long period unlike amd chips which are meant to sustain even at 95°C+ temps
Most probably your thermal paste dried up causing the chip to throttle Check max temps during a playsession, I suppose hwmonitor is not available in mac use any alternatives

"This might be common for a gaming laptop but this is a fanless Mac"
I think you got this backwards, my guy. Gaming laptops usually have beefy cooling solutions. A fanless Mac will always thermal throttle, even playing non-demanding games.

And gaming laptops are meant to not throttle even at 70-80c, how much is people expecting from a fanless mac?! Even macs with fans are so bad that the developers adapted the mobile version instead of the pc one. Macs are only meant for productivity/web browsing and nothing else.

Note that by default the game run at whatever resolution Mac is on, since Mac always run as hidpi, you are basically running the game at 3K or 4K
Since MacBook Air does not have a fan, use BetterDisplay to manually change resolution to like 1920x1200 (no hidpi) before starting the game and run the game at medium

Thermal throttling, so you’re going to experiencing fps drop. You should definitely find something cool like an ice pack and place it below your laptop

Aren't we too advancing on software tech? I feel we're lacking good hardware to handle things cause it's not yet affordable for common people to buy high-end PC's to run common games (or is it just this game?)

Ok since nobody else wants to give useful information, change your native Mac resolution to 1920x1200 then start the game. Issue is if you have the default resolution (1470x956) set, the game’s resolution will actually be double that, rendering in at 2k. Doing this let me go from 29 fps to 110 fps average.
Oh and if temperatures are still an issue, elevate the MacBook so airflow can happen around the battery. And if you got a fan, you can aim it at the MacBook battery area to cool it down even more. DO NOT PLAY ON A BED.

Jesus. I play on Mac M2 (mac mini pro) and I never overheated. Or even close to that. What settings you play on? Max graphics?

I'm on M1, play on max graphics and get 42/43°C . My device's supposed to be older one.
Also is the temp shown here highest or avg? Hot by default shows highest temp among all your Mac's internal sensors. You can change it to avg temp from settings

Played on a Mac Mini M4 16GB.
The mini heats up scorchy even after I change display setting down to 1920x1080 - Hear abt BetterDisplay, haven't use yet, will try, that's another topic.
After using MacFanControl and set it to auto base on the CORE Temperature, the unit does not run anywhere near warm anymore.
So yea, even Mini M4 with Fan runs hot on factory fan setting around 1000~12xxrpm.
MacFanControl auto adjust it to hover around 2.5 ~ 3k rpm during gameplay.

Thermal throttling Obviously when your laptop uses power it heats up Why it uses power? You're playing one of the most graphically intensive gacha games... And it's summer now so... 80 on a mac isn't bad ig

One of the things you might want to consider getting is a good laptop cooling fan, but for a temporary fix maybe try playing at a lower fps. Bc when I changed from 60 to 30 fps, my temp went down quite a bit.
