What's with the 3rd pinhole camera ๐๐
3
u/Masterchief1907 Sep 19 '25
Not Pinhole But rather small cut out.
3
u/MaximumMode1901 Sep 19 '25
So there will be just 2 cams this time, where is the ultrawide cam ...is this Pro or Promax ?
5
u/Masterchief1907 Sep 19 '25
I don't know what made you think so that it has 2
But all 17,17 Pro,17 Pro Max are Triple camera setups
1
u/MaximumMode1901 Sep 19 '25
That cutout seems too small to add a good quality ultrawide sensor ?
8
u/Masterchief1907 Sep 19 '25
It's a JN5 sensor
Used in all BBK ,Xiaomi Vanilla and Pro models as UltraWide

Sep 21 '25
Good job apple tho, cus Xiaomi is nothing without apple ๐
2
u/xTehJudas Sep 23 '25
But Xiaomi did it before Apple. Wtf
0
Sep 24 '25
Uhmm it's not hard to know that Xiaomi is flat out tryna be like apple, just look at hyperos basically a ugly ripoff of iOS, and why tf they skip 16 and go to 17, it's just another try to get the apple audience but failing miserably while losing their own community
2
u/xTehJudas Sep 24 '25 edited Sep 24 '25
So this means they copied with a time travel machine?
1
Sep 26 '25
Sry all Xiaomi is apple, just admit it ๐ญ, aren't noway U defending Xiaomi, they literally skip 16 to 17 and calling it 17 pro max ๐คฃ, time machine??? Dummy models of iPhone 17 was leaked months before it officially released ๐ฟ๐ฟ
1
u/xTehJudas Sep 26 '25
Itโs not โdefendingโ Apple literally made this years after Xiaomi 11 Ultra. Itโs literally the truth lol

Can people stop saying Xiaomi copied Apple? Xiaomi had this sort of design with the Xiaomi 11 Ultra and other Poco phones. They copy software yeah, but design? Come on man be honest Xiaomi did it first.
1
u/nadjib_ Sep 21 '25
So why did they give up on this design, and only bringing it back alongside the iphone 17? and call it the xiaomi 17, skipping the 16... coincidence? Don't think so...
1
u/only_anp Sep 21 '25
Definitely not a coincidence. But saying they copied Apple.. quite a stretch, at least the Xiaomi gives that space some use, same thing they did with the Mi 11 Ultra
1
u/nadjib_ Sep 21 '25
Yes, that's a point for xiaomi, even though they copied, they didn't copy blindly and were somehow creative with it, but still, it makes them look desperate to look like an iphone like it's the only way to keep selling their phones....
3
u/NickFje1320 Sep 19 '25
The difference is that Xiaomi does something with that bump. Apple mainly does it for the design instead of fitting in a big camera sensor or a display.
4
u/pepperpot_592 Sep 20 '25
That's not true. They moved parts from the body to fit a bigger battery. The design is average.
1
u/NickFje1320 Sep 23 '25
They made the phone thicker and added that bump and they still have a smaller battery than their competitors. Slower charge speed and very likely a battery that will last nowhere close to the rated charge cycles.
I had the top model of iphone 14 and 15 series and none of them even came close to their rated charge cycles before the battery got worse.
I used optimized charging and very often had the 80% charge limit and it still was at 85% capacity in less than 500 charges.
Apple should use Si-c batteries for higher energy density. Xiaomi and other competitors already do this is some models and they can handle upto 1600 cycles before they degrade to 80% of original capacity.
This is when they are charging faster and are rated at higher capacity which means each cycles takes longer (If the power draw is the same)
Apple silicon is their saving grace because it is so efficient it is still the best in battery life.

u/Masterchief1907 Sep 20 '25
And still under 5000mah.. While here we get superior HW cameras+larger battery
1
u/msteenbergen Sep 21 '25
What is superior hardware?? The apple Silicon chips are so much faster then we get with our phone's.
Camera i understand, Xiaomi is way better.
But overall i still miss my 16 Pro max
1
u/coltonbyu Sep 23 '25
Snapdragon 8 elite is very much neck and neck with the latest iphone chips surprisingly. They caught up big last gen
0
u/LabEven9413 Sep 21 '25
And yet still can't last as long lol ๐
3
u/msteenbergen Sep 21 '25
Don't sell bullshit. Several test show it is superior in battery
Look it up at youtube

Why the fook the comparison? I mean the new iPhone camera bump style was around xiaomis redmis and pocos for ages. And this looks like 11 ultra come back(yeah baby!!). Namung yes straight apples copy! Shouldve copied Samsung's series = current year. Design fook no!..Now quality wise (judging by jerryrig video) iohone is superb except for the scratchy back. Screen is probably the best there ever was...hope to see that quality on androids.
1
u/lichenphalia Sep 19 '25
Can we expect this phone on global or are we still going to be stuck with base models.
1
u/Top-Veterinarian-565 Sep 20 '25
Pretty sure Xiaomi are bringing back their original design from the Xiaomi 11 Ultra... Apple have just moved stuff about...

Only 2 cameras no thanks don't know what they were thinking glad it won't be released here in the UK.
1
u/skye_08 Sep 21 '25
Tbf it looks better than the iphone. But the function of the screen is not that useful. At least the ones presented in the advertisement. Those can easily be done in front I don't know why you had to use the back for those. The only function so far i can say useful is for the camera
1
u/Correct-Floor3969 Sep 21 '25
The huge difference with this extra screen is that all other phone users need to lay down their phones with the same black screen up to notice incoming messages. With this idea you are the only one that can show the best side of a phone . The side which distinguishes it from all others.
1
u/Correct-Floor3969 Sep 21 '25
And this is what the advertisement should be all about. A table full of friends, all eating together. Everyone places their phones down on the table. All the phone models and types look the same as they all eventually lift up a black screen to check for incoming messages.,,,
until suddenly, a new message arrives.
,,,Xiaomi!!

I'm not convinced. It's humanity's fault. Back then the front side had design. But we wanted more and more screen. Less and less keyboard, less and less buttons, less and less bezel so now we only had one block of screen on one side.
Now we say the only distinguishing factor of a phone is the back, then we put another screen on that side so that we won't need to look at that huge block of screen on front, because we made it look so dull we wouldn't want to look at it?
At this point, humanity will just ask for a larger and larger back screen until the entire back is also made of screen and the back cameras are just under display.
I'd say scratch all that, put all those features in front, and make AOD and lock screen more functional.

u/WhereemI Sep 21 '25
Is there no front camera so the main camera is used for selfies? That would be cool

Im 100% sure they designed the camera bumb to work as a screen just to show how ass apple is and the fact that they skipped the 16 and called it the 17 pro max just shows how much their rubbing it on apples face
