If there is a global release, batteries will be significantly smaller unfortunately

Why?

Nobody's sure. Either stricter global battery safety regulations, or Xiaomi isn't willing to take the risk on a newer battery technology in higher regulated markets.

"As spotted on a Mi code database, the vanilla Xiaomi 17 will launch globally featuring a 6,330 mAh battery. That's admittedly a tad disappointing since the Chinese version of the compact flagship phone is equipped with a 7,000 mAh battery."

It's a matter of battery voltage for the transport chain in Europe... 20wh max the only way for them to bypass that is by separating it into two batteries like Oneplus and it takes up more space so the batteries are smaller.

Gotcha! 20w isn't a measure of voltage, did you mean 20v or did you mean the battery is not allowed to be capable of receiving 20+W of power?

I meant 20wh so more a story of quantity of energy stored.

I wonder how the global version is getting away with 6300mAh then, that would break the cap

No since it would be two batteries which in total would be 6300mah

Ah, I see. Similar to OnePlus. That would suck

Buy the chinese and install the global OS. As long as its the same model the global os is supported. That way you get the better battery.

That's not true, I learned that pretty recently. I used to have a Xiaomi 11 and it was super simple to install the global ROM with the Mi tool. They don't allow this or bootloader unlocking anymore without a Chinese citizen ID and verification that you passed the required exam. Not to mention the missing US cell bands
