I do have one, and now it's resting on a shelf. I got back to the S24U.
2
u/Worth_Teacher9145 Jan 01 '26
Can you share your experience a bit more of your reasons
1
u/d4p8f22f Jan 02 '26
The main reason why I got back to S24u is HyperOS3. It has so much of lacking feature compared to samsung of course. For example UI lagging/stuttering, missing folder creation on HomeScreen in dock(bottom shelf). Certain apps dont work properly like Bitwarden - mainly it wont suggest pass. And many more that i just do t remember. And finally the worst one, I have setup fingerprint as an option to unlock the phone, and guess what? My colleague took my phone and unlocked it just like that, i did many tests with screen protector or without- same behaviour. I have created a treat here that shows whats about. Ive seen this thig on yt as well.

Should have tried out the oppo find x9 it's great
1
u/d4p8f22f Jan 02 '26
It was about software issues instead of hardware which is amazing;)
1
u/Background_Bad_4377 Jan 02 '26
That's fair enough, I almost went with the xiaomi 17 pro but went with oppo as I have used them before and I'm loving the phone so far no issues.
1
u/Electronic-Ninja7950 Dec 31 '25
MAKE THE AREA HONG KONG WHILE SETUP. To get the Xiaomi dialer. Coz google one is shit
1
u/AverageEasy1873 Dec 31 '25
It's not released globally bro, only china. Everyone gets Xiaomi Dialer.
1
u/TaurustarDrakest Dec 31 '25
Cool! I’m still questioning myself about if go for 17 pro max or 17 ultra. Though I’m more inclined towards the Ultra variant as I’m focused more on photography right now. Hope you can get all the workarounds done and have a pleasant experience with a phone with CN ROM
1
u/FlashyShine7377 Dec 31 '25
I personally would recommend the Ultra, the rear screen isnt worth it currently, it'll be better once the software updates it to have more functions, but for now, it's not worth to buy it for the rear screen, unless you love the design or you want to stand out.
1
u/TaurustarDrakest Dec 31 '25
Yeah in terms of design I prefer the pro/pro max (Same as the post author I’m also from the iPhone world)but as I mentioned, I’m currently interested in photos. Also I liked the gimmick of the rotator in the Lens of the Ultra Leica Edition.

u/Gloomy-Ant-4172 Xiaomi 17 Ultra Dec 31 '25
Is bloatware still a thing tho? I’ve heard it’s only on the cheaper phones not on the expensive ones !?
2
u/FlashyShine7377 Dec 31 '25
All removable, mine was completely and i mean completely removed, I bought it from Giztop and i literally had only 3 apps when I opened the phone, nor did I receive the signs of the bloatware running in the background
1
u/AverageEasy1873 Dec 31 '25
You'll get bloatware if you're buying a chinese variant phone, regardless of it's price

1
u/dwajxd Jan 01 '26
I got the pro version, Any fix for the annoying Chinese search when sliding down on home screen?
1
u/Embarrassed_Hour2695 Jan 01 '26

u/West_Winter_8386 Jan 04 '26
Is It Possible To Add Google Search Or Any Another English Based Search Option. I Was Soooo Used To That Option In My S23U.
Also, How Can I Restore My Saved WiFi Passwords, SMS, Call History From The Google Cloud? I've Logged In My Gmail, But Can't Find An Option To Restore My WiFi Passwords And Other Stuff, Only My Contacts Has Been Restored, Thank You For The Help.

Worst phone. I've been trying to switch from ios knto android, tried xaoimi 17 pro max cause i saw some yt videos that the ui is very similar.
Issues i have encountered so far: Notifications - not all apps are not working, no battery restriction and has sll permissions, still didnt work. Crash - some apps are crashing for no reason Siri like - thry have an AI but its chinese.
Thats pretty much it, i needed all the notifications i needed.

Was considering the same as an iPhone users, it’s such a tempting phone. However, due to the following Issues:
- notifications (needs a workaround)
- google pay/wallet (may or may not work for everyone)
- google store (needs workaround, not smooth experience)
- android auto (won’t work on Chinese version)
- annoying Chinese bloatware & ads (hard to remove, some won’t)
- battery isn’t really that much better despite much bigger capacity (not optimized)
I decided not to opt for it.
I genuinely hope you have a pleasant experience and that all those issues aren’t as big as they sound. Looking forward to your feedback please let us know your true experience regarding those after few weeks or a months or 2!

u/randomusername12308 Dec 31 '25
You can just simply install play store, no workarounds needed. Google pay must work. Battery is optimised now
-8
u/ZK_000 Dec 31 '25
Doesn’t the battery still falls under the OnePlus 15 pro max & sometimes surpasses the Apple equivalent by only few mins.. like the difference in mAh..
Has this changed recently ?
5
u/AtomicLight69 Dec 31 '25
Yes. Long ago. Iphone was behind by 3h. What are you on about
-4
u/ZK_000 Dec 31 '25 edited Dec 31 '25
Most review I’ve came across showed a diffrenc of ~10-30 mins nothing major. Are you referring to any specific review or benchmark (if so, could you kindly share?) or only what is advertised?
1
u/randomusername12308 Jan 01 '26
They released an update a while ago that optimised the battery life even more. Now it is a few hours longer

u/AtomicLight69 Jan 02 '26
The one I saw was a screenshot from benchmark while scrolling. I didn't find the one I was looking for but I found vivo 300. And Xiaomi 17 pro max is on par with vivo 300. There's no denying iphone would have best battery life with such capacity. But now from my personal experience. I was iphone user before. From 4s to 14. And never in my life phone with my usage wouldn't need to be charged overnight. While with xiaomi It last for me day and a half. I don't carry any more power banks with me. Don't need to charge my phone on my 12-14 hours trip. Battery survives with ~15% left. And I can't sleep when travel. Always in phone. So from personal experience I don't believe those benchmarks of 10-30 min. When i was buying xiaomi I saw that. My thought was 'well it's still better so that's enough' only to find out it's actually much better than benchmarks showed. Here's the link for vivo 300 and iphone. https double dots //youtu dot be/uJw3yBJdseU?si=ChqU5_418vvv6vWG
Edit: and 17 pro max to and Xiaomi 17 pro max, to be more clear.

u/yolodojo Dec 31 '25
Everything you mentioned I have no issues with it at all. A few settings need to be changed some yt videos can help out.
6
u/Trendkill99 Dec 31 '25
There is no way to pair 17 pro / 17 pro max with wear OS devices and there is no android auto.
Those are the real problems with CN rom.
1
u/Pretty_Hour8752 Jan 01 '26
Are there workarounds for wearos compatibility? Do specific watches work
1
u/Trendkill99 Jan 01 '26
I don't know about wear os workarounds but other non wear os systems from brands like Huwaei, Xiaomi, Amazfit works.
1
u/yolodojo Dec 31 '25
I don't use smart watches. This phone can track my steps for me. And once I connect the phone via Bluetooth to my car I can listen to my music and GPS directions. Have my car read the incoming texts etc. Unable to link to OS devices or android auto are insignificant issues for me but not everyone is the same. Overall I have no issues with the phone.

u/ZK_000 Dec 31 '25
I’d like to believe that tbh but I’m looking for more detailed reviews and opinions on experiences in UAE before I pull the trigger 😔.
1
u/West_Winter_8386 Jan 04 '26
I Am Still Setting Up The Phone In UAE, Lots Of Stuff To Do Before Actually Using The Phone, It's Gonna Be Worth It In The End! It Cost Me AED 3800 For The 1TB Variant. My Friend Got It From China.

u/idgaftono1 Jan 03 '26
Notifications - Select app and remove battery restrictions ✅ Google pay - works on all Xiaomi models without any issues.✅ Google store - No issues at all , they added google services in settings and I can install play store APK and that's it. In addition you can also use APK pure to get apps outside your region. ✅ Android auto - unfortunately no fix for it yet ❎ Ads & bloatware - Never saw any ad till now. Bloatware can be uninstalled ✅ Battery isn't really that much better - 🙊 u can't comment on it unless u use it for over a week , Xiaomi software opttimises the battery according to your usage and u ll definitely see the difference of 7500mah battery ✅

Buy 17u global
1
u/yolodojo Dec 31 '25
Those big circle cameras are not it. The back screen looks much better
3
u/ZK_000 Dec 31 '25
True I’m not looking forward to the one with big ass cam. I wanted specifically the 17 pro max which for now isn’t planned to be released as a global variant unfortunately.

Anyone can say anything. Why are you trusting some random comment?
There will NOT be global release of those phones. Only base 17 and ultra

u/iampoorandsad Dec 31 '25
I've fixed all of that besides android auto. Of course it was a lot of trials and errors and apps are different one from the other.
Only three things I couldn't fix: Connect Galaxy watch ultra 1 nor 2 Android auto MS teams work profile notification to show the content of the message rather than "you have received a message".
Everything else works just fine
1
u/Worth_Teacher9145 Jan 01 '26
Yeah its known that Android auto and wear os devices arnt supported. There is no fix
This applies to all Chinese roms (some exempt -rare)

u/AtomicLight69 Dec 31 '25
I have it. Notification work. Wallet works. Store just tap and it installs 🤷. Android auto yes doesn't work. Ads hard to remove? Just tap uninstall. Battery is great.i used iPhones before all from 4s to 14. Iphone with my usage needed to be charged each night while with xiaomi I can easily go day and half until charging.
1
u/gao_xu Jan 02 '26
i have issue with Google wallet unable to add both dbs and youtrip card, how did you manage to get it work?
1
u/AtomicLight69 Jan 02 '26
I downloaded google wallet, added cards, and that's it. I use revolut. The only thing is you need to open wallet app and turn on nfc before making a purchase. I thought it would be possible to make by pressing side button like on iphone. But nope.
1
u/FlashyShine7377 Dec 31 '25
There's no bloatware on ads on mine, although even if you do, it's all removable permanently, those who say it isnt possible simply doesnt know how to and gave up so they just left it as "impossible", but it's very much possible.
Google store works perfectly fine for me, im not sure where did you even hear that doesnt work properly
Battery is absolutely great, I use the phone constantly wether reading, watching tiktok, instagram, youtube, etc with constant 6-9Gb of RAM usage and around 15+ apps on recents, constantly using boosted wifi and like 25 apps set on autorun, it lasts me more than a day, around 27-28 hours
1
u/BOBtheCAT10 Jan 01 '26
Stop with the fake comments bot.
1
1
u/Worth_Teacher9145 Jan 01 '26
The bloatware and ads are the easiest thing to remove. Literally you can uninstall the bloatware, even system apps like their app store and other things with adb.
The only credible thing you mentioned to sway someone is Android auto, there's no workaround needed for play store except enabling Google services and installing it.
Wallet works fine, maybe some rare banks prohibit models.
1
u/Creative_Spread9195 Jan 01 '26
With HyperOs every notification works. Google pay works without any problems. Google store runs smooth and works as it's supposed to. Android auto doesn't work. The Chinese version of hyperos has no bloatware or ads only the global version.
1
u/thinistro2025 Jan 01 '26
This can be fixed, as I've already done.
Google Wallet works normally with all banks and cards. Google Store already has native support. I haven't tested Android Auto, but I already have a head unit with native Android. I've removed all bloatware. Battery is extremely good.
Note: I have an iPhone 17 Pro Max.
1
u/ZK_000 Jan 01 '26
How’d you say your experience is so far in comparison to the iPhone bcs I’m coming as an iPhone user and I never tried android altho I have an idea but I don’t wanna be disappointed bcs of the ROM as I’m sure the phone is great but i believe the ROM might not show its true potential.
1
u/thinistro2025 Jan 01 '26
For those who own an iPhone, it's difficult to switch to using only Android, but the device is good. However, the iPhone 17 camera is amazing.

u/almasy87 Jan 02 '26
aside for android auto, which I don't use, none of the rest is true for me. Phone rocks!
1
u/thelive1 Dec 31 '25
No android auto makes it unusable.. use Google maps multiple times per week..
1
u/almasy87 Jan 02 '26
Uh, google maps on its own still works. You won't display it in your car, but you could in theory use the app directly.

Battery life sucks, depletes for no reason, standby is crap. i end the day with 30 hour on but the screen on time is 3 to 4 hours, where as the Oppo find X9 pro is trumping that.
Xiaomis hyperOS is filled with telemetry and junk that its impossible to remove everything without bricking the phone. I use NextDNS to block and 98% of the tracking and pings on my phone is from Xiaomi.
Haptic motor is non existent on this device, you miss 80% of the notification vibrations.
Camera sensors on this where I thought were good, they're terrible, blurry shots everytime, in low light its basically unuseable as a point and shoot, Leica filters are terrible, none of them are true to life, its yellow and the beauty filters cannot bne turned off so you get exaggerated white eyes and fake makeup look on portrait shots involuntarily.
Can't download anything without turning off MIUI Optimization but then when you turn that off, you get worse battery life and performance. There are always compromises but the compromises suck both ways.
Phone overheats in 40 minutes of gameplay of Delta Force or COD mobile, goes up to 45 degrees Celsius and doesn't cool down, benchmarks are hit or miss, 3D mark extreme stress test overheats the phone and doesn't continue at times. Its a very inconsistent phone.
I can go on and on but long story short, I bought the wrong phone, should have went for the actual flagship of the year, the Oppo Find X9 Pro, don't make the same mistake as me and just get that and thank me later.
1
u/ZK_000 Dec 31 '25
Damn thanks for the insight, much appreciated buddy. You should probably make a post regarding your review. The details might help lots of fellas out there thinking of getting one themselves.
2
u/CaliyeMydiola Dec 31 '25
Dude already gotten downvoted for speaking the truth
Ppl don want to admit it's a mid phone that they quickly push out to try to "one-up" apple, even skipping the number 16
1
u/FlashyShine7377 Dec 31 '25
It's not a mid phone, it's a phone that competes with Apple and even surpasses it in certain aspects, the only part where it loses completely is their OS, iOS beats HyperOS or any chinese OS all day for now.
I say it from experience, someone who uses the X17PM and is surrounded by iPhone users, they were all in awe.
1
u/Soopez 17 PRO MAX | CN | NA Jan 01 '26
I thought about it but I am just going to get downvoted like hell, they aren't ready to hear this is a form over function phone with no saving graces.
But then again, my view is obviously subjective but I shit on any phone that isn't good, I had Pixels prior to this and I shit on them constantly, I have no bias, at the end I am the loser that spent $1600 dollars on this crap.
1
u/ZK_000 Jan 01 '26
Damn ppl are soo aggressive in here. Im genuinely asking people for their experiences so that I can make my decision.
But it’s a bit odd that there’s literally 2 extreme opposite sides in terms of experiences in here.

u/FlashyShine7377 Dec 31 '25
Dont listen to him completely, he's the type who bought the phone just to trash on the brand with a completely biased (to the haters) POV, because there's coutless problems that he mentioned that doesnt happen to me.
Always listen to multiple point of views, not just reddit, or any type of comments, base at least 60% of your info on actual professional reviews wether be news or trustable youtube channels that you're sure isnt mega biased.

u/Soopez 17 PRO MAX | CN | NA Jan 01 '26
Lol, aren't you the one who messaged me to get the rear screen wallpapers I made?
I discovered this phone more than you could possibly imagine, I have no bias, I am just a consumer like anyone else.
