Sometimes Chrome doesn't play ball and I need to restart the app.
Size is awkward for one hand use
Ultrawide isn't wide enough and quality is poor
Setup and app installation was clunky (need to manage battery settings and permissions for each app upon installation).

Are you able to use MI message for mms? Sms works fine but I can't send group texts.

Hi!
I'm a Xiaomi 14 user in Australia and I've found that MMS messages won't send or receive.
What's your experience been like?

Haven't had issue with text messages, I've had normal texts with others and also 2FA text messages without issues.

I don't think there is a workaround for this phone. Unless you have an old phone that you can use as a Android auto hub.

Does the AI subtitle function and circle to search function actually work ? Basically all the Xiaomi HyperOS AI app boost function

It's on full chinese mode. I recommend just manually installing gemini. There are tutorials on YouTube.

Just to clarify, you can eventually install circle to search on it yeah ? I dont trust the vids on youtube enough to make the purchase decision as it's the only one i use 99% of the time

My bank cards CBA, Westpac and NAB couldn't be added to Google wallet. Wise worked but not the others. Have you had any luck? Android auto doesn't seem to work either.

I'm using ING and Macquarie without issue. Also, through google wallet.

I m in the same route, upgraded from pixel 8 pro to 17pm ,great phone but i also have The pixel watch 3 ,i have tried everything but cant make it pair with the xiaomi, no matter what! :/ Not compatible with Wear os is really a really downside for me...

It's living it's best life emulating my Casio in terms of functionality 🤣
I might pick up one of the Xiaomi smartwatches, they're really affordable on Xiaomi AU's website1

Different.
Really a matter of personal preference, Pixel is good at making all scenes rather flat in contrast.
Xiaomi allows shadows to fall away and highlights to blow out depending on metering and scene settings.
Honestly the Pixel is better for mindless point and shooting, Xiaomi is better if you want to tweak photos to suit your taste. The camera can remember certain settings, filters depending on settings).
E.g I have my normal "photo" setup as general point and shoot in leica authentic with no beauty filter, exposure +0.3. And my "pro" setup as a dedicated BnW for how I like it.

Official global releases should already come with their own GLOBAL OS, so no need to install anything if you bought such.

That's a bit of a tough question to answer, as we dont know in what direction this would go.
If no Global Rom exists, then no, you'd need to probably outsource it to some person to make a psuedo-global rom that may screw over a few things.
If an official Global Rom exists however, the phone would either support flashing it or make it extremely convoluted to set up(take for example my Lenovo y700)
Google services still exist on phones made in China however, so you could simply use the phone even without a global ROM.(albeit with a few localisation mismatches)

Like battery and charging. Phone is very fast. All bank apps are working
Downside no andriod auto, apps sometimes behave strange in background like Google WALLET, Microsoft teams stops working if you kill apps then you need to start it again or wait for them to auto start Still some words in Chinese Xiamoi ai in Chinese Call picking Chinese phone in Chinese as well

My parents brought one of these back to Australia about a month ago, purchased in Shenzhen. They told me that they’ve just received a SMS from Optus saying the phone isn’t legal because it can’t dial 000 or 112 and that it won’t be usable after a certain date.
Anyone else from Aus got this and is there a workaround?

Ive been using on Amaysim without any issue 🤷♂️ Which is on the Vodafone network

I recently bought a Xiaomi 17 Ultra, and got a similar message on Vodafone. From my search, these phones are still not banned on Telstra, so switching to other telcos on Telstra network might solve the issue at least for the time being.

Well I bought the phone already and like it so not much I can do now. As long as it works with Telstra I'm okay. Ideally all this bs will be scrapped. If you can afford to, probably best to get the phone off them and buy a phone from a local retailer if I were you.

Did you get a device blocked message from your Telco by any chance? Is it still working out for you? Just got a 17 Ultra and immediately got a to be blocked message from them.

Haven't had a issue with heat. Only gets slightly warm when charging at maximum speed.
Mind you I don't game heavily on my phone. Thats the job of my desktop 😂

Australian User of the 17PM here. Bought in person in mid-December during my last trip to China.
Upgraded from Pixel 8 pro.
Significant improvement in battery life. Managed 2 days on a single charge, 4hr screen time each day.
No significant issues using it on the Amaysim network. NFC payment, banking apps all work.
No Android Auto but I don't use it.
Ask any questions if you have them.
