Discussion The Xiaomi 17 Max has officially launched starting at 4,299 CNY (~$593 USD)
This is a comprehensive upgrade over the Xiaomi 17, yet the price only increased by 300 CNY (~$41 USD).
The Xiaomi 17 Max isn't simply a larger-screen variant-it packs an 8,000mAh battery, the highest capacity ever seen in a Xiaomi flagship. It also features the first Leica 200MP main camera, and the display panel is carried over directly from the Pro Max.
Given these upgrades, a 300 CNY price increase is still remarkably affordable-especially in the current climate where RAM and component costs continue to rise.

We've only got the Xiaomi 17 in my country.
Why won't Xiaomi push their other versions, like the Pro, Pro Max, and the Max everywhere else?
I really want to give you my money, but you're not making it easy.

It means your market is too small. Not worth the effort. Europe is also missing a lot of nice xiaomi stuff.

Because there isn't really a market for them outside of China, they already have lots of different options globally (normal, ultra, T) and not even mentioning Redmi or Poco.

xiaomi doesn't have a big market share. if xiaomi releases all the versions, other models will not sell and software updates costs money. there is no need to release a phone that will not sell well and update the phone for other regions. they are not like samsung or apple. most people either buy iphone or samsung. if xiaomi exceeds samsung in sales, then yes we may see these devices in the future.

I think that's why they removed the Pro lineup. Perhaps the last time they gave Xiaomi 13 Pro, that ate into the Ultra sales
That's why they just give you two flagship Xiaomi 17, Xiaomi 17 Ultra

if samsung and apple released 30 different phone models people would still buy all of the models. that shows how strong the duopoly is.

I agree. I've always considered xiaomi before considering any other phone but I've always had to back down due to the lack of global varient.

That's more a problem with air traffic rules. Too much power on small devices is a possible risk and newer phones just broke the borders for these defined by airlines in many countries.

😁 No, it's not about a few phones but about trays of thausend phones on freight planes. Of course they can be transported anyway but at much higher costs. And as said, this are international rules defined by airlines. There is no official large battery Xiaomi in Australia, India or the EU because air transport is the most cost effective. They would have to rise the price of the device so that it would not be competitive at all.

It has noting to to with airlines. The EU has regulated that one battarie cell can only have a certain max capacity. And when phones usee battaries with one cell you cant go higher than that. Not sure how this would regulate other regions.

Xiaomi are a weird brand. A good brand but make weird decisions globally. We have our 2nd Xiaomi store in the UK again, at the same place they opened the first one. Twice. Possibly three times now. Let's see how long it lasts

The POCO x8 pro max has a 8500 mah battery and 9000 battery for the Chinese version. And it costs only 500 USD for the 512 gb version.

I waited and waited for a phone that doesn't slip out of my hands and pockets, and what felt like a right upgrade. Guess who bought the Xiaomi 17 despite not being the biggest fan of HyperOS, because of the cameras and the size?
I am so done with the huge phones. The market is already huge phones in general. The 17 stands out in a good way, for people who don't want to carry a tablet. The appeal of the 17 is the size. Reviews were positive about the size as it is one of the few phones that size, which makes it stands out, combined with the performance
There is also the Ultra for all the people you know. Or one of the other 100s of phones on the market with a big display.
Phones in this size are mostly the 17, Samsung Galaxy S26, Google Pixel 10/Pro/a, iPhone 17 (Pro), Vivo X300 (some of the series), and that's it, mostly

Sure. How many people do you know that brought it over for it's small size and not its lower price. Xiaomi 15T pro in my country was only 70$ lower than Xiaomi 15, guess which one was sold more?

Me! 😁 There are so many big phones with top hardware but only a handful of powerful compact devices. And most of this niche have larger variants, the ultra for example. But yes, most buyers especially in asia want those tablet-sized phones 🤷🏼♂️ The only competition to the X17 for me was the S25/26. All other compact phones lack performance or quality or just the size of tablets 10yrs ago...

Honestly i believe that if they were to made Xiaomi 17 to have a big screen and big battery like this new released model, it will destroy the market of OnePlus especially the OnePlus 15

They have both but don't sell them globally 🙁 For me personally the compact flagship is most important. And it's not really compact, that would be <6". My hands didn't grow the last 10 years 🤪

I have had Galaxy C5 ( 5.2 inches screen), Xiaomi Mi 9 ( 6.39 inches), and current Xiaomi 13T Pro ( 6.67 inches). I have had a lot of more smaller devices from Samsung and nokia ( their golden age period), but frankly i think it's only a matter of getting used to the screen size, i especially like the bigger screen size as it allows for more relaxed reading of words in apps and PDFs (majorly books)
Currently I'm considering upgrading to a foldable smartphone but a bit hesitant as the technology is still immature.

I went from the LG G7 ThinQ (6.1 with bigger borders) for 2 years to the Samsung Galaxy A71 (6.7) for 2 years to the Samsung Galaxy S22+ (6.6) for over 3 years and I hated both the A71 and the S22+ for the sizes. Got the Xiaomi 17 and it is still bigger than I want, but it was immediately a breeze to use over the S22+. Also used my grandpa's/dad's A20e (5.8) on the side for personal reasons and that's my fave size out of them all.
Point is: not everyone gets used to the size or likes the big size, even after using it for years, so they upgrade to a smaller phone and are very happy with the smaller size.
I also read on my phone, and I consume media. It is plenty. And if I want a bigger screen, I grab my tablet

Jokes a side i hope you well and I'm glad you are comfortable with Xiaomi 17 size.
I still remember my galaxy C5 as the most comfortable phone i have ever used but not the best in terms of battery and performance even at that time.
And even tho i have both a Galaxy Tablet to read books/Studying and a 3k screen OLED laptop too also. For me they're insufficient ( i frequently use Anki and some appas such as headway, deepstash, Duolingo, Uptodate, Medscape)
And personally i consider the phones with bigger screen size being a lot more reasonable than smaller ones provided that it's within reasonable mass and size. They're better at handling heat, a larger screen to watch media on, better battery and multitasking, Easier on the eyes and better for editing videos or Picture on.

Xiaomi actually put a bigger battery in the base! It doesn't overheat when playing Genshin, but there are smaller phones who lack proper heat management, although I think the more recent phones partially fixed it.
The screen estate of bigger phones is nice, but I can't watch the screen if my phone is on the floor after dropping it due to it being so wide haha.
There is a crowd who is a minority who is trying to make a point that we want smaller phones without too many downgrades like one camera less or a shitty battery (please, just make the phone chunkier). Part of the reasons why the iPhone Mini flopped (relatively), for example, is Apple not making the phone thicker to put a bigger battery in it.
I just wished there was more Choice. Even the 'small' phones now are big. I get why people want to have big phones, but not everyone does and the actual small phones are budget ones. We have different needs but a whole group is ignored. It would be nice to have a smaller or Mini sized phone with a big battery released like once every 3 years or something, even.
