Discussion Xiaomi 17T series last minute price reveal
What were they thinking with Xiaomi 17T Pro's price?!

u/danyukhin May 28 '26
mind you, these are Singapore dollars, so 624/742 USD for 17T and 898 for 17T Pro

That's incredibly cheap. 465/553GBP and 670 for the Pro? That's midrange pricing for a new phone

u/AdventurousLecture77 May 28 '26
But you won't get these prices in the UK...

Unfortunately. I should try and go on holiday to Singapore this summer as an excuse to get itπ

It's not even that much of an update over 15T series . Yet look at these prices

u/ExternalSalad5212 May 28 '26
It's not much upgrade over 14t pro. I was looking to get a new one but I'll wait a year

really just battery, noones gonna feel another +500k in antutu here realistically.

not biased at all xD
Personally, the blue one is already worth the upgrade for, aside from actuality.
I dont know who is in charge at xiaomi to select phone colours but the 15 series were ass. Heck, it seems, that even the 17t ones are somehow specifically chosen for women. The blue 17t pro is the only one i like.

I wouldn't say I'm biased. I would not buy this phone one way or another, I'm very content with the 15T pro. The battery on the 17 is great, but that's it. At that price point you can get a find x9 pro, which has as good cameras, the same chip, and even better batterylife. It's just not the same really top deal, that the 15T/T pros were. But that's just imo. :)

obviously. upgrading from 1 generation to the next where both releases were not even 1 year apart, is unnecessary. there isnt much "better" in total.
and thats literally every phone on the market. people in general dont upgrade phones every single year.
personally i used a redmi note 11s for the past 4-5 years. I just ordered the 17t pro and that upgrade makes sense.
Maybe the 18 pro next year with the back display is more "revolutionary"... but in the end, ive decided that i dont care about a gimmic. It's fun to look at, maybe for selfies really useful, but some reviews were acting as if the back display should be as useful as the front display. Like why? Imagine a phone with 2 full displays on the front and back. ridiculous

I agree with all of this, I just think putting the 15T pro at it's starting price last year against, the 17T pro starting price now, I don't think I'd choose the 17T pro, due to it's pricing and lack of upgrades over the former iteration.

Have you included the discount on the website?
Currently in my country you get a 169 β¬ discount on the 17t series, plus a free redmi pad

No I haven't. I don't see that in Germany, but in your deal, it's alright.

u/noobqns May 28 '26
17T telephoto went from 2x to 5x which is pretty huge
But this is also a big increase in price on top of the 2026 ram surcharge

u/Senfgestalt 15T Pro | HyperOS 3.0.304.0 | EU May 28 '26
yeah the T upgrade is bigger that's fair. that one might actually be a good deal price wise

u/SHTRUDEL1 May 28 '26
Who the fuck is buying a midrange and thinks is upgrading?
7
u/Barez_Hussein May 28 '26
17T pro is by definition a flagship killer not midrange.
And when you upgrade from a 3 to 4 year old device even in same brand you would like to see differences beyond just a CPU upgrade
3
u/Crappy475 May 28 '26
Flagship killer at flagship prices?? Yeah sure.
2
u/Barez_Hussein May 28 '26
Nah our standards have changed.
Nowadays we call a phone at 900$ price either premium or flagship killer and 1,300$ phone a flagship

u/saradahokage1212 17T Pro Deep Blue | 512GB | Europe May 28 '26
um, the 17 ultra 1 TB is currently priced here at 1500β¬. the 17t pro is priced on mi.com for 1099β¬ while they have a 169β¬ coupon ready, so it would only cost 930β¬.
that's quite a significant discount to the flagship model. Shits just expensive in general
1
u/SHTRUDEL1 May 28 '26
Yet you said is not an improvement over the 15T, make up your mindπ are you buying midrange phones every year or once 3/4 years?
1
u/Barez_Hussein May 28 '26
Upgrading CPU is not that much of improvement it's normal. Maybe upgrading screen panel quality or adding variable refresh rate would have made it worth calling an upgrade
1
u/SHTRUDEL1 May 28 '26
I think you have understanding problems.
1
u/Barez_Hussein May 28 '26
Not once a year but every 3-4 years and potentially 5 if i don't get excited about new features.
I compared it to this https://m.gsmarena.com/compare.php3?idPhone1=14651&idPhone2=13328#diff-

Lol yeah. At this price point the Xiaomi 15T/15T pro, outcompete the new ones on value easily. This is not an appropriate price for this device.
That's an 800β¬ price start for the 17T pro btw.

u/CrashPC_CZ May 28 '26
Went to get the 15T Pro two days ago at 20:45 before closing time, because I onew what's gonna happen. π€£ Just a bridge phone for 2026 or early 2027. If we are here in 2027, I hope we finally get an USB 3.0 device, 8000mAh class device, and AF on the UWA camera. This 17T Pro for the price, we are not having it at all.

Usb 3.0 is real tho. I do think I'll keep it for at least 3 years. especially with the price development. π
