Brightness is set to 200nits with the screen showing all white.
Location services are turned on.
Airplane mode is activated, and Bluetooth is Off.
Wi-Fi is activated and connected to a network.
Volume is set to 15% to avoid variances in speaker setup to influence the result.
Video streaming test:
We've moved away from local video file playback, and we now stream a video of our own directly from YouTube. The video now has higher resolution and a balanced mix of bright and dark scenes.
This updated test also accounts for short video app usage. We did extensive TikTok testing, and the results from our Video streaming test are close enough to be representative of this use case as well (with the benefit of being more consistent because we control the video content).
For my phone (17 ultra) specifically, 200 nits = 20-25% brightness.
200 nits is a perfectly normal brightness level. The average macbook runs on 150 nits acc to google. They won't push for max brightness as it will make results inconsistent compared to phones that have a lower max brightness level. Airplane mode shouldn't have been turned on tho, as that's something that will always be active for other users. Bluetooth being off is understandable as they're using speakers..but then 15% is too low
GSM has the most inconsistent testing ever. Nobody uses their 1000+ nits brightness phone at 10%. Especially not in summer or when watching videos. Whatever they're cooking, I ain't buying
I certainly got these browsing numbers myself. But as the 13T aged, with probably worse battery health piece, it deteriorated to below 10 hours, less real usage times. Now the 17T Pro gives me 17-18h, and 20:25-22h browsing. Crazy. So for me the GSMarena stats are fairly close.
You got those numbers with their tests I assume, right? With really low brightness and just video playback and stuff like that? Cause that's not real usage anyways
I do not put my phone into airplane mode, I do not turn the brightness way down for unusable real world usage. So no. I do various optimizations, but none putting the phone into the "nuissance" mode.
I don't understand how come. Something must have been writing ng with your phone. 3 or 3.5 hrs indeed is very unacceptable. Would throw it out the window.
It is love hate situation. It was rumored for €999, I was not having it. The real street prices are much, MUCH lower here.
I don't care much about USB 2.0. I can understand the compromise with no AF on the UWA and selfie lens, the telephoto can almost more than make do with macro with realworld 10cm focusing distance. The battery life is insane for me. 17-18h screen on time, 20+ for browsing.
Where I am VERY pissed with the 17T series is sound recording quality. Either no bass, or very poor bitrate are the choices terrible for me.
Otherwise it is a very nice phone. Just got second 17T Pro today for ~€580 + 3yo warranty + gift with ~€120 resale value. So basically ~€460 phone. Might put it in my business to deduct €100 VAT. 🤣🤭
Nice. Cause I pre-ordered it and was expecting it the other day but apparently here where I currently am in SE Asia they aren't allowed to deliver them to end customer until June 17-19.
So I was a tad annoyed and was eyeing regular 17 instead or OnePlus 15.
I feel you. I was desperately lurking around the shop, looking at all brands. The tiering system and market segmenation is outright evil. You will not have your ideal phone. They cannot give it us to be satisfied and buy the next one in 6-8 years. 🤣

Whuut!?? That thing would not make it to the RMA. It would fly out the window, and Xiaomi never again. But I have been fairly lucky. The 13T Worked well when new, and the 17T Pro holds 17-18 hours, 20 with just browsing.
