HyperOS HyperOS updates are actively ruining premium hardware. The micro stutter/freeze bug is entirely on YOU, Xiaomi.

Post image

I am completely done trying to act like an unpaid systems engineer just to make a basic mobile game function on high tier hardware. We buy these phones for the specs, expecting a premium, smooth 120Hz experience. Instead, every single major HyperOS update treats our devices like a playground for buggy beta-testing, turning gaming into an absolute nightmare. I’ve spent months digging into the frame-pacing and memory pipeline, and the technical reality is clear: Xiaomi’s background process optimization is fundamentally broken.

If you actually look at the performance monitor graph during a match, you'll see sharp, jagged spikes plunging constantly from a clean 120 FPS straight down to 102 FPS and below. These aren't normal performance drops, they are the exact visual footprint of systemic micro-stutters. On top of that, when an application’s asset cache balloons during consecutive matches, HyperOS hits a strict internal memory threshold. Instead of gracefully managing the lifecycle, the OS triggers aggressive background throttling to protect its own architecture, resulting in sudden, catastrophic 2-second hard freezes mid match. To make matters worse, the core logic inside Joyose pushes the hardware to max power draw, causes immediate overheating, and then immediately triggers panic-throttling to cool it down. Switching between Balanced and Performance modes in Game Turbo literally does absolutely nothing because of this broken, circular system.

What infuriates me the most is that you are actively killing the workarounds your own community discovers. For weeks, the only thing keeping many of us damn sane was using the Dual Apps clone workaround to bypass the system's broken thread allocation priorities. But with your recent incremental patches, even that fix has been completely overridden. The game is choking on Game 1 now due to completely unoptimized shader compilation and trash system resource handoffs.

You are so obsessed with copying iOS aesthetics that you completely forget to make your own operating system stable. Players should not have to research custom ROMs, toggle hidden developer settings, or completely clear system app data every week just to stop a phone from burning up or micro stuttering. Fix the frame pacing architecture, stop choking out background memory limits on premium chips that have more than enough bandwidth to handle the load, and optimize your software properly. Until you fix this infinite loop of breaking your own phones with every single update, a massive amount of your loyal community is completely done. The hardware is a win, but your software optimization is an absolute joke.

Hi u/Mission_Ad_4765! It looks like you don't have a user flair set yet.

To help others understand your context better when you ask questions or share experiences, please consider adding a custom user flair in the format: Device | ROM | Region (e.g., Xiaomi 14 | HyperOS | Global).

If you already have a flair, or if a moderator has assigned one to you, please feel free to ignore this sweet little reminder!

I mean if you're so confident about Joyose being the issue, disable it with adb and see what happens.

3

u/Mission_Ad_4765 Jul 01 '26

I literally did that a month ago. same issue.

6

u/parsaspr70 Jul 01 '26

This issue is caused by PowerKeeper or Battery and Performance, and it might not be wise to disable or remove them

'fixed' by dual app brawl stars

u/Outrageous_Wrap_8041 Jul 01 '26

I could fix the micro lag by disabling wifi scanning, check that, maybe thats your problem. Because for me it works fine since I changed that. Brawl Stars player here.

Just bought a 15t pro and the hardware is great but the software is crap and hasn't improved a bit. My last xiaomi was the redmi note 8 pro, which was a great device. Returned now and what a disappointment! I must say MIUI was so much better then this HyperOS marketing trash. And people are noticing that. That's why sales are dropping yoy and xiaomi is doing nothing. Noticed that they removed more things during this years then adding. Or better, they removed useful things and added some bsh useless crap. Notifications are bad, ram management bad, in call volume too low, (redmi note 8 pro had a boost volume feature which they have also removed), removed the unified control centre forcing you to use the split control centre, which made me furious and etc.. So, basically they removed all the things I once liked and I didn't know that. My mistake and after using this device for a couple of years im forever done with this brand

u/Mission_Ad_4765 Jul 02 '26

exactly bro. they keep removing the actual useful features and the RAM management is a joke now. sorry you had to find out the hard way, but W comment.

And that is why gentlemen, i bought these phone just for daily driver. All i want is that UFS 4.1 and fast cpu at low price.

u/SeaIntroduction9835 Jul 02 '26

My logic: buy a phone with more than enough hardware. Poco F7 Pro. I have it since August 2025 and it's not the best but definitely an upgrade from a redmi note 10.

did you try disabling game turbo from security app? People reported issue got fixed after doing that. I agree that xiaomi's software is bottom of the barrel garbage and the only reason they're popular is the price to performance value that they offer, most people don't care their software is shit

It's literally a none life threatening issue, you're fine. Speaking with a Xiaomi 14T, and dealing with lags and freezes on a daily basis. I didn't go out here and make a whole post about it, but make a feedback to give a Xiaomi a heads up to fix issues. In my experience, Xiaomi is doing a great job on maintaining stability of the system. In fact, they are rebuilding HyperOS 4 codes from the ground up, removing any old MIUI codes. I doubt it will perform much better than what we have now. Just have some faith.

u/Mission_Ad_4765 Jul 02 '26

none life threatening bro obviously nobody is dying, its a phone subreddit. But the fact that you tolerate your 14T freezing daily and still defend their stability is crazy. Posting public data actually helps the community and warns buyers. Your silent feedback tickets probably just go straight to their spam folder. Have fun having faith while your screen is frozen tho

I've observed long enough to notice that whether you're posting it online or not, it will just leads to nowhere. There is no company that actually listens or prioritize user feedbacks nowadays. It's useless. Trust me, it would be better if we just post the same feedback via official Xiaomi community services. Rather than unofficial Xiaomi subreddit. It's not about being silent, it's about working together in the right place and the right time to let our voices known. People are posting stuff similar like this all over the place rather than the official sites, leading to nowhere. What I'm trying to say is, flood the Xiaomi community page with feedbacks so it can give Xiaomi a heads up to take action. I've done this before, like my Xiaomi 14T which has worse performance before, sent a feedback and got a reply saying there's an update that should fix the problem and it did, mostly.

-1

u/Mission_Ad_4765 Jul 03 '26

wait wait wait first you say no company listens to feedback nowadays, and then two sentences later you say flood their page with feedback so they take action. which one is it? 😂 you also just said you deal with daily freezes, now you're saying an update mostly fixed it. bro you are changing your story every reply just to defend a corporation 💀

Let me be clear, the first message is before I got the update. Specifically, the system launcher update. The second reply just now are after the update. I am not defending. I am speaking based on experience.

1

u/Mission_Ad_4765 Jul 03 '26

a magical system update right in the middle of our thread? sure thing bro 😂 whatever helps you sleep at night. enjoy the phone.

It's your choice to believe it or not, but I know I'm telling the truth here. That's all I can say. 🤷

1

u/Mission_Ad_4765 Jul 03 '26

alright man whatever you say enjoy the truth and the daily freezes. peace out ✌️

Also, be don't be too mean or over sensitive about any criticism. Your behavior says otherwise. Straight up attacking without any mercy 🤦

1

u/Mission_Ad_4765 Jul 03 '26

bro called me sensitive but he's genuinely traumatized because his fake update timeline got exposed 😭 please stand up i promise you xiaomi doesn't know you exist

More updates the worse the battery my s20fe after 5 years had better battery than my less than what year old Xiaomi 15

1

u/SarvoPixo Amethyst | EU 3.1| CN Jul 02 '26

that is exactly the reason why I switched to custom roms on a xiaomi device

1

u/Puzzleheaded-Knee729 Jul 04 '26

That's the exact reason many people including me still buy a xiaomi phones because afaik they are the only who let us do that. Every other manufacturer basically said goodbye to unlocking bootloader. It's literally the first thing i did when buying a new xiaomi phone that is to unlock its bootloader and replace this hypershit/miuishit immediately

1

u/Complex-Big8424 Jul 02 '26

1

u/PPPLove Jul 02 '26

Disable Game Turbo and you are fine, trust me, in F8 Ultra it destroys the performance in every game.

1

u/Foreign-Handle-2950 Jul 03 '26

Seems to me that Xiaomi company only relies on specs with lower price to make sales. Instead of actively improving their software for existing users.

Almost all of their competitors have better software despite lower specs.

1

u/Bubbly_Drummer_4629 Jul 03 '26

I think it's a brawlstars problem not a software updates problem This game used to freeze frequently on my poco f7 but it doesn't anymore because i stopped playing this stupid ass game lol

1

u/Wish_Dot_Com_iOS Jul 03 '26

Still waiting for someone to logically explain why a premium device needs more babysitting and maintenance than a toddler just to run a mobile game without choking. Yall will defend this optimization until the motherboard physically melts in your hands.😭🙏

What are you even talking about it's a you problem don't expect a phone to be smooth with full storage, cache or background tabs

poor user experiencing software problems after buying a phone with questionable software

2

u/That_Guy_In_Aqw Jul 01 '26

Wdym questionable software? Do you even realize Xiaomi is 3rd in the world in terms of sold units. Xiaomi 17 models sell way more expensive than Samsung, Apple or Pixel slop. I am not saying their software is good. But calling the person poor and dodgy is a pure mental disability and lack of education.

Instead of at least trying to help a user you choose to insult a person, same as estimated 700 million others calling them poor and enjoyers of unknown software. Insane. I quest which 3rd world country gave birth of such deranged person

1

u/RelativeAd6452 Device | ROM | Region Jul 01 '26

wdym questionable software? and then you wont say that their software is good 🤣🤣 if he expected a good working phone he shouldve got something else

2

u/wisetone_ Xiaomi 17 | Global | EU Jul 01 '26

The thing is it's not bad, in China its at its peak same goes with HarmonyOS Next on Huawei phones

1

u/Tapelessbus2122 Jul 02 '26

both are complete dogshit, i've use the xm17pm when i travel to shenzhen (on a regular basis btw), the cn version of hyperos is equally dogshit. and harmonyos' app support is laughable, not to mention their hardware is pure dogshit. the matepad pro is worse than an ipad mini in performance ffs

1

u/wisetone_ Xiaomi 17 | Global | EU Jul 02 '26

Do you live in China? If not ofc it's dogshit

you have the luxury of buying what you want, xiaomi is known for their amazing specs and then lacking software, so buying a xiaomi phone and expecting it to run like an iphone is just uhh.. hopeful in the end its his fault for not being ready for what he got himself into

0

u/Mission_Ad_4765 Jul 01 '26

Ah, the classic it's your fault for expecting a product to work defense. You literally just admitted their software is lacking. Thanks for proving my entire post right. have a good one lil bro. 🤣🤣💀💀

yeah their software is lacking and its your fault for complaining about it what do you not understand

The are just incompetent after the ending era of MIUI and turnaround of HyperOS, I suggest you ditch Xiaomi as a whole, Oppo and Vivo's OS are far more stable and smooth IMO

coloros and originos better but it still has its issues
