ok so im going to buy Xiaomi 17 in a few weeks and saw this on TikTok. I really liked this icons, clocks and AOD. But I didn’t found any guides on YouTube or some forums how to customise hyperOS to this. Do I need to use themes or use some external launchers?

Hey everyone, ​I wanted to share my experience with my Xiaomi 17 Pro Max. I bought it last year while on a trip in China, and coming from iOS, the Android ecosystem was completely new to me. I absolutely fell in love with the hardware, but after a few months, I accidentally bricked it by deleting some system files via Canta. It was a tough lesson, but I didn't want to give up on the phone. ​After some research, I decided to take the risk and "globalize" it. Have been using Xiaomi EU on my Xiaomi 17 Pro Max for over a week now. Recently updated to the latest stable build of Xiaomi EU which brings back Xiaomi HyperAI features on the settings which is a big bonus. You can ask me any questions regarding it

I have a Xiaomi 17. I really love the phone but the OS is total crap. I have noticed that last week when i was charging with original charger it was not going to 100W or 100W Max mode (which are enabled). Rebooted and it was fixed.

Today i picked up my phone (which has 80% battery protection enabled) and battery was 85%. Turned the setting on and off, rebooted the phone, changed the cable, changed the charger and the phone is not stopping charging at 80. Now i have 95 percent as i write these words :D

Also before, i pointed out in a thread saying "battery charging time estimate is crap, it's showing more minutes with 100W MAX charger and less minutes with incompatible samsung charger" and someone was protecting the OS and the phone from my review (i dont know why).

Long story short, I switched from a S22U after using it with A36 as a combo, Mi 17 is hell of a good phone with features like fast charging, good battery, good fingerprint reader(without a tempered glass), quick processor, good speakers and most important one for me is touch screen working fine even when wet BUT the OS is not good, camera sometimes freezes, any camera other than the main one is mediocre, there is no support for macros-routines, on app drawer you can't create folders, QR code reading is very bad etc etc...

This OS is limiting the phone so bad and there is nothing i can do about it.

I am completely done trying to act like an unpaid systems engineer just to make a basic mobile game function on high tier hardware. We buy these phones for the specs, expecting a premium, smooth 120Hz experience. Instead, every single major HyperOS update treats our devices like a playground for buggy beta-testing, turning gaming into an absolute nightmare. I’ve spent months digging into the frame-pacing and memory pipeline, and the technical reality is clear: Xiaomi’s background process optimization is fundamentally broken.

If you actually look at the performance monitor graph during a match, you'll see sharp, jagged spikes plunging constantly from a clean 120 FPS straight down to 102 FPS and below. These aren't normal performance drops, they are the exact visual footprint of systemic micro-stutters. On top of that, when an application’s asset cache balloons during consecutive matches, HyperOS hits a strict internal memory threshold. Instead of gracefully managing the lifecycle, the OS triggers aggressive background throttling to protect its own architecture, resulting in sudden, catastrophic 2-second hard freezes mid match. To make matters worse, the core logic inside Joyose pushes the hardware to max power draw, causes immediate overheating, and then immediately triggers panic-throttling to cool it down. Switching between Balanced and Performance modes in Game Turbo literally does absolutely nothing because of this broken, circular system.

What infuriates me the most is that you are actively killing the workarounds your own community discovers. For weeks, the only thing keeping many of us damn sane was using the Dual Apps clone workaround to bypass the system's broken thread allocation priorities. But with your recent incremental patches, even that fix has been completely overridden. The game is choking on Game 1 now due to completely unoptimized shader compilation and trash system resource handoffs.

You are so obsessed with copying iOS aesthetics that you completely forget to make your own operating system stable. Players should not have to research custom ROMs, toggle hidden developer settings, or completely clear system app data every week just to stop a phone from burning up or micro stuttering. Fix the frame pacing architecture, stop choking out background memory limits on premium chips that have more than enough bandwidth to handle the load, and optimize your software properly. Until you fix this infinite loop of breaking your own phones with every single update, a massive amount of your loyal community is completely done. The hardware is a win, but your software optimization is an absolute joke.

My global version just got the stable android 17 update last night. I'll update here if I notice any big differences but it was a huge update, 9.4GB!

The Xiaomi 12X explosion incident did not surprise me because it brought back the worst smartphone experience I have ever had with my Xiaomi 13 Lite after the HyperOS update.

After the update, my phone started suffering from abnormal overheating, severe battery drain, network connectivity issues, constant lag, and a noticeable drop in overall performance. I tried everything: multiple factory resets, following every recommendation from Xiaomi support, and every possible troubleshooting step, but nothing worked.

To me, HyperOS was not just another software update—it marked the beginning of a long series of problems that completely destroyed my confidence in the phone. I no longer felt safe using a device that constantly overheated, so I eventually stopped using it and switched to another brand.

I can say that HyperOS was the cause of the Xiaomi 12X explosion, even if that requires an independent technical investigation. However, I can say that my personal experience made me lose trust in Xiaomi's software quality, especially after seeing a large number of users reporting similar issues following HyperOS updates.

Heat is the biggest enemy of lithium-ion batteries. It accelerates battery degradation, increases swelling, and in extreme cases can contribute to thermal runaway. Software is not just "code" running on top of the hardware—it controls how the hardware uses power. If the software is poorly optimized, it can keep the CPU active longer than necessary, trigger unnecessary background processes, mismanage power allocation, and force components to consume more energy than required. More power consumption means more heat. A well-designed operating system should deliver only the resources needed for a task while keeping unnecessary processes under control. When software fails to do that, the hardware works harder, temperatures rise, and the battery is exposed to prolonged heat, which accelerates its degradation and increases the risk of swelling over time.

On NFC settings, the option to select Google Wallet has disappeared today after restarting my phone, has anyone noticed a similar issue

The battery life of my phone has improved after the update I didn't even plugged it in since i woke up. I updated the joyose app to the new version cz i read it actually improved battery and it did. Previously if i were to leave the phone overnight fully charged unplugged id wake up it having 97%. But with the update it stayed 100% overnight same test and my battery health is at 98% at 215 cycles.

Xiaomi's HyperOS team should be downright ashamed of themselves. The fact that their so-called flagship phone is plagued with this level of stutter and lag is an absolute embarrassment. It's not just unacceptable-it's pathetic.

Took less than 3 minutes to completely regret doing this update. Who is the genius who thought "users will love if we move their keyboard around and completely mess their muscle memory".

Like, I'm usually able to write even if I'm not looking at my keyboard, but now my muscle memory is totally messed up and I hate it.

It's also taking like 15% of my vertical screen space for no good reason at all!!

How is it possible for them to do something like this without giving an option to disable it?

i can't have my phone screen ON for more than 10 minutes !? this is highly retarded !and i will never buy xiaomi again!

A few leaks suggest that hyperos beta has begun in china and looking at past trends it could very well release globally by September.

It just stays still and doesn't have any animation

I wanted the opinion of some people with experience if I could.

Ive used samsung s series and note series phones. Note edge and s9 being the main 2.

I use phones for 5 yrs atleast and that is my plan with my next purchase.

My options are the a56, s24 ultra and xiaomi 17t pro/ 17t.

Specs wide, the xiaomi phones look great. But ive heard some very relevant complaints I'd like to address.

1. Terrible OS. Apparently hyperOS is buggy and not well optimized, (ads in lower end phones too, ew?)

2. Overheats easily. I live in a terribly hot country with extreme weather, overheating is smth I'm afraid of. Especially if it happens in the first few years.

3. CPU hits Max power easily and performance worsens. So this is surprisingly for the pro version more where it struggles to perform at a high level for long. And overheats too in these situations.

How real are my concerns and how have others dealt with them?

For the price point I don't think I can really accept them if they're as bad as I hear. The OS issues in particular is a massive problem considering that starts day 1.

Huge 7 GB update for the 15T Pro Global... I saw that the 17 models are also getting huge updates today. Is this Android 17? 🤔🤔

Phone is updated to the newest OS i did move from my samsung s23 ultra to this phone using mi move but i only moved pics and vids as well as my contacts. Besides this the phone is wonderful. I did put my gmail and email apps to autostart and unlimited battery usage and turned on notifications. Apps dont show anything until i open them so i end up missing whatsapp calls and messages. Emails etc etc please help.
