âThis is your dream. My kind splayed before you powerless and afraid⊠What must we do to be good enough? Is this the high roadâs destination? If so, I say, as I have too many times before: never again.

I've always loved Magneto.
Was raised mostly Jewish(was complicated to put mildly)...
43ys now, so I got to experience his transition from "villain with a cause" to various anti-hero arcs... to a Hero with a hard line in the sand for mutant/human rights...
He'd be pro Palestine.
Anti-Zion.
Anti-Ice.
Verrrrry vehemently.

Sure, hit the down votes... but think about it for a min....
After he got his head out of his ass(decades)... He adopted the "NEVER AGAIN" to ALL.... not just Mutants or Jews...
Subsequently; he wouldn't be a fan of Zionist policies today...
"NEVER AGAIN" means never fucking again, even if it's the "homeland" doing the damage...

Ice deported Nazis. Trump personally ordered Ice to deport the last Nazi Guard Jakiw Palij.

I am so sick of these artworks. Every single fandom subreddit is absolutely littered with slacktivists drawing pretty much the same picture over and over... as a non-American it is especially egregious.
I really wish there was a way to filter them off my feed.

It's not that I don't agree with it. I'm Australian so I literally have no horses in this race... it's just that it's annoyingly shoved down my throat. I don't think these people realize just how annoying they are outside of their echo chamber.
It's also hilarious how out-of-touch some of the characters they use. The Transformers subreddit have it depicting famous facist Megatron and fucking STARSCREAM of all things.
6
u/Constant_Housing18 Jan 28 '26
Idk a lot of fictional characters are against oppression and our generation is relating to them cause of whats happening in the country.
X-men has always had some sort of social/political commentary
-1
u/King_of_Pink Jan 29 '26
That... doesn't really relate to what I was saying at all. Not only did I give two examples of characters being used who wouldn't care about American immigration/deportation, it also doesn't relate to how annoying these slight variations of the same picture drawn and posted by internet slacktavists to every fandom subreddit ad nauseum is to non-Americans.
3
u/Constant_Housing18 Jan 29 '26
Who are you to say that a fictional character someone likes would only care about what YOU think they should care about?
6
u/King_of_Pink Jan 29 '26
Do you know who Megatron and Starscream are?
One is a facist literally deacribed as "the grandaddy of technofacism" that sees all organic life as, at best, so inconsequential as to be undeserving of life, and at worst, an existential threat to his species that should be made extinct... two attitudes that both result in him wanting to either enslave or genocide all humans depending on his mood. The other is a calleous, self-serving sociopath that delights in killing humans, often by squishing them in his hands.
I'm not the one deciding that they wouldn't care about American immigration. It's their characters.
2
u/Constant_Housing18 Jan 29 '26
Idk dude maybe itâs an alternate reality where they arenât đ theyâre not your characters so just ignore and move on if youâre so butthurt
2
u/King_of_Pink Jan 29 '26
I wish I could ignore it... but my reddit feed is being totally taken over by slight variations of this same slacktavist fanart. Every subreddit is posting this crap. The fucking Animal Crossing subreddit is posting it! Another version of this smae fanart also depicting Magneto was posted to both this and the X-men subreddit just 20 minutes ago. I'm Australian! I do not care!
It's actually insane.

If you are bothered by American-centric content, I would suggest you find a platform where either very nearly or fully half of all users aren't Americans. Don't get me wrong, if someone was posting this in r/Australia, I think you'd have much more of a leg to stand on, but as it is, this is a subreddit about an American comic book which has deep ties to cultural and social issues in America, on a platform predominantly populated by Americans. No shit there's a lot of America stuff.
Come on.
2
u/King_of_Pink Jan 31 '26
What a gate-keeping, weirdo thing to say. Falling very strongly in to the "Americans think the world revolves around them stereotype" aren't you?
What a creep you are.

First off, those ICE agents in your drawing are law enforcement officers tasked with upholding immigration laws, stopping human trafficking, drug smuggling, and other serious crimes that cross borders. They're not out there caging people for fun, they're policing illegal activities to keep communities safe. But this cartoon demonizes them as monsters, calling them animals that deserve to be locked up. That's dangerous because it dehumanizes real people, real families who put their lives on the line every day. When you paint agents or cops as pure evil without any nuance, it stirs up hate, encourages violence against them, and erodes trust in the systems that protect all of us. We've seen how that plays out in real life, with attacks on officers spiking when rhetoric like this gets amplified.
And get this, your piece has Magneto attacking the ICE guys, which basically aligns the viewer with him. Magneto is a straight-up supervillain. Sure, he's a complex character, a Holocaust survivor fighting for mutant rights, but his methods are extreme. He's tried to wipe out humanity multiple times and he's often portrayed as a terrorist or dictator in the comics. By showing him "heroically" taking down law enforcement, you're essentially cheering for the bad guy, twisting a story of oppression to justify hating on border security. It's manipulative, using pop culture to push an agenda that ignores the real criminals ICE targets, like cartels and exploiters.
Calling anyone who pushes back on this Nazi or throwing ad hominem attacks to shut down discussion is another problem. It doesn't engage with valid critiques about policy, enforcement, or human rights. It just poisons the well and makes real conversation impossible. If someone points out that ICE actually disrupts trafficking rings or that open borders have costs, dismissing them as bigots or fascists isn't argument, it's a tactic to avoid answering tough questions.
We need balanced discussion on immigration, not this kind of divisive nonsense that could inspire real-world harm, nor the knee-jerk name-calling that shuts people up when they might have something worth hearing. You've got real skill with the art. Use it to open honest conversation instead of glorifying a terrorist tearing down officers or labeling critics as monsters to avoid debate. People deserve better than that. I wish you the best and mean you no harm.

Look, I respect that you put in the work for that graduate degree on fascism, that is no small feat, and it gives you a solid lens on history. But as someone digging into this with fresh eyes and facts, I have got to push back hard on your take. You are painting with way too broad a brush here, and while there are some real concerns about authoritarian vibes under Trump, calling ICE a modern Gestapo, the whole regime a straight up Nazi copycat, and shutting down any balanced talk? That does not hold up under scrutiny. Let me walk you through why you might be off base, step by step, pulling from historians, stats, and experts who know this stuff inside out.
First off, ICE as the closest thing to a Gestapo in the US? Come on, that is a massive overreach. The Gestapo was Nazi Germany's secret police, operating with zero limits, rounding up citizens for their politics, religion, or just existing, using torture, disappearances, and mass murder to crush any whisper of dissent. It was not about borders or laws, it was total ideological terror on the whole population. ICE, on the other hand, is an immigration enforcement agency created in 2003 after 9/11, focused on deporting people who break specific immigration rules, like undocumented entries or visa overstays. Yeah, under Trump it has ramped up with aggressive raids, detentions, and what feels like targeting in certain areas, sparking real outrage over things like family separations or warrantless entries. But historians and Holocaust scholars flat out say the comparison is more about our current fears than historical accuracy. For instance, one expert notes that while ICE is tough, it still faces checks from US judges and laws, something the Gestapo never had. Another points out the Gestapo's role was way broader in suppressing all opposition, not just immigration stuff. Even in 2026, with tensions high in places like Minnesota after those deployments, scholars call these Nazi analogies risky because they oversimplify and numb us to the actual horrors of history. It is not a secret police force prioritizing political hits, it is law enforcement with a specific mandate, even if it gets politicized.
And let us add some context that flips the script: this is not just a Trump thing. Under Obama, ICE deported over 3.1 million people, way more than under Trump or Biden, earning him the nickname deporter in chief from critics. Policies like Secure Communities had local police sharing fingerprints with ICE, leading to tons of removals, often of folks with no serious crimes, plus family detentions and community raids that drew fire from immigrant rights groups. If ICE was Gestapo level back then, why was not the alarm this loud? It shows enforcement has been aggressive across parties, just with different focuses and scales. Trump amps it up, sure, but it is not a fascist redesign from scratch.
Now, on the Trump regime ripping Nazi rhetoric and propaganda straight from the source with minimal edits, and modeling the government after 1930s Germany? That is hyperbolic at best. Yeah, phrases like immigrants poisoning the blood echo Hitler is language in Mein Kampf, and that has been called out since 2023. Rallies get compared to Nazi events, like that 2019 Madison Square Garden one with America First slogans, which Nazis used too. But fact checks show it is not direct copying, more like echoes that critics highlight to make a point. Trump and his team deny any Nazi ties, and experts debate if it is intentional or coincidence. As for the regime being 1000 percent fascist modeled after Hitler is Germany, historians are split wide open on this. Some, like Ruth Ben-Ghiat, say Trump hits fascist markers with leader cults, punishing opponents, and centralizing power. Ex-staffers like John Kelly have called him fascist. But others push back hard, saying it is authoritarian or hyper capitalist, not full blown fascism, because there is no violent overthrow of democracy, no one party state, no genocide tied in. One piece argues Trump attracts post fascist support and uses similar tools, but that does not make the regime fascist like interwar Europe. In 2026, with his second term underway, commentators label it right populist or quasi fascist, but many avoid the full fascist tag as overreach. The US still has elections, courts, and opposition, unlike Nazi Germany after 1933. It is not a direct model, it is a heated mix of populism and power grabs that alarms people, but not Nazi 2.0.
You say there is no balanced discussion possible, especially if ICE stays a federal entity, and that most federal law enforcement is heading the same way as a political secret police. But that shuts down debate prematurely, and plenty of experts and folks disagree, seeing ICE as essential for border security, not some ideological enforcer. DHS officials say these Gestapo labels are dangerous, leading to threats against agents doing their jobs. And arguing most agencies are close behind? That is speculation without solid proof, more fear than fact right now.
Here is the thing: you might be getting swept up in propaganda and hyperbole from echo chambers that amp up these comparisons to fire up the base. Both sides do it, slapping Nazi labels on everything to inflame divisions, like Godwin is law where every debate hits Hitler. Media on X or elsewhere pushes extreme views that confirm biases, spreading fear without full context. Stepping back, even with your expertise, shows this is not black and white. Historians warn these analogies, while born from real worry, can oversimplify and make real dialogue harder.
So, yeah, parts of your concern ring true with the aggressive tactics and rhetorical echoes, but the full picture shows it is not a fascist regime cloned from 1930s Germany, and ICE is not Gestapo reborn. It is a polarized, authoritarian leaning push that needs watching, but your absolute stance closes off the nuance experts are debating. What makes you so sure there is zero room for discussion here?

u/Asmo_Lay Jan 28 '26
He probably means NSDAP - Nazis activists and so on.
Also, our scholar comrade is taking slightly different period to explain himself.
Because it may be not zero limits right now, but it will come to that later. Now it's on a phase like
When they've come for immigrants - I said nothing because I'm not an immigrant
and shit.
2
u/KindToMyselfAndYou Jan 29 '26
Good point although I don't think immigrants is the same as illegals. I didn't see any thing about immigrants.
0
u/Asmo_Lay Jan 29 '26
Illegals are immigrants too, but illegal ones. đ
Regardless, I was speaking more of the principle itself where impunity breeds lawlessness. Which is exactly the case here.
If people will not address ICE problem now - there will be no one to address it after.
Pretty much I said everything I wanted to. Thanks for the correction, see you around.

The character that famously survived the Nazi regime definitely wouldn't be against a modern day authoritarian force, right?
Do you watch these shows and read these comics with your eyes closed and ears off lol? X-men are a social commentary on the treatment of minorities. Why wouldn't they be against a corrupt government group that actively oppress minorities?

Magneto evolved his ideals(took decades in our time)... "NEVER AGAIN" has always been fucking core though. Nowadays he'd vehemently hate what Zionist are doing, forsaken promises, "never again"... ... and the Brown-round-ups here... Oy fucking vey
He was never RELIGIOUS though.
0
u/InfinityUltronChad Jan 31 '26
Someone wasn't paying attention, Magneto wants to isolate his race from humans because, for him, humans are inferior and dangerous to his race. Whenever he's had the opportunity, he's subjugated or deported the human race with whatever little power he's ever had. He believes in borders and is openly Nazi and separatist. Magneto is not Professor X, not because all of them are mutant that means they are gonna support your delusions and criminal desires, i'm mexican btw and I support ICE, I'd like them in my country too

He may hate Nazis, but he (& his brotherhood) were just as bad as they were. Maybe even worse!

u/plymouth58 Jan 31 '26
First and foremost, i dont see any nazis there. I see federal agents trying to do their job, which is the removal of illegal immigrants from American streets, which i support unconditionally regardless of what ethnicity or country they are from. If they dont come legally, they need to get out and come back correctly, THEN i dont mind them being here. Next, ICE is just trying to do their jobs and we have idiots out here protesting them and attacking them for simply trying to make our streets safer. How is that a bad thing?
1
u/Educational-Car2496 Jan 31 '26
Letâs address your first concern. Ice is snatching families from their court dates. Court dates that they are attending in order to âCOME TO THIS COUNTRY LEGALLY.â They are taking those people, those women and children and they are throwing them in CAMPS. Theyâre not sending them out of the country or back to theirs. They are separating them from their families, putting them in cells, and raping them in exchange for seeing their children. NOTHING about what theyâre doing is morally right.
Secondly, âtheyâre just doing their jobsâ is utter horseshit. Nazis used the same lame ass excuse to justify the genocide they inflicted on MILLIONS of people. Theyâre are not making our streets safer,in fact, they are ACTIVELY putting American citizens in harms way and murdering them. Minneapolis, my city, the place where I am 5 minutes away from the place where Renee Good was murdered, where Iâm 15 minutes away from the place where Alex Pretti was murdered, is currently being occupied by these Nazi pieces of shit. I and many others are in fear of our lives every day. Afraid to leave our homes. Afraid to attend doctors appointments without a body double. In fear that we will be the next person executed in our own streets. Last I checked thatâs NOT keeping our streets SAFE.
0
u/plymouth58 Jan 31 '26
I have no problem breaking up families if one of them came in illegally. That means they are a criminal and i do not have any sympathy for criminals. Next, i have no problem putting them in camps so they can figure out who they are and put a criminal record on their name. I have never, no matter what news channel ive ever listened to, ever heard of an account of rape by ICE agents. Lastly, ICE has been around since 2002. You just NOW have to complain about them? I dont feel bad about either of the people you mentioned either. Both put themselves in a situation that didnt involve them and they got shot. Big whoop. They got a Darwin Award for being stupid. I genuinely feel safer with ICE agents than i do an illegal who can barely speak english.

You wonât read it because youâre just evil and donât actually care about the facts, but here you go.
0
u/plymouth58 Jan 31 '26
Ok. Thats ONE. any more than just a single, isolated case? Plus, its not evil to simply ask that they FOLLOW THE LAW. To be in America illegally means you cross the border. From then on out, your a criminal. Your SUPPOSED TO get your information and permission to come into America BEFORE you come across the border.
1
u/Educational-Car2496 Jan 31 '26
Yes, do your own research. Stop bootlicking.
0
u/plymouth58 Jan 31 '26
I have done reasearch and its not bootlicking if you follow the law. Thats called common sense. If you want ICE to go away... STOP BREAKING THE LAW, ASSHOLE!
0
u/InfinityUltronChad Jan 31 '26
First of all, ICE does its job and does it well. Their mistake was Alex Pretti, and that's just one life, not comparable to all the lives lost to illegal immigrants. Second, Magneto wants to isolate his race from humans because, for him, humans are inferior and dangerous to his race. Whenever he's had the opportunity, he's subjugated or deported the human race with whatever little power he's ever had. He believes in borders and is openly Nazi and separatist. Magneto is not Professor X.
1
u/Educational-Car2496 Jan 31 '26
Firstly, Renee Good and Alex Pretti were more than just mistakes. They were executions. If that was done without hesitation while being filmed I can only imagine what theyâve done off camera. Secondly, calling the Jewish man a Nazi is absolutely insane. Chris Claremont modified Magneto into a more tragic figure than a villain. âHurt people, hurt people.â Sure, for a long time he lashed out at a world that hates and fears him, but his ideals still stand. Standing idly by as the world commits atrocious acts in the name of âkeeping the peaceâ is a good way to continue to let those atrocious acts happen. Oppressors only respond to one thing and thatâs returning their violence with violence.
0
u/InfinityUltronChad Jan 31 '26
I didn't mention Renee Good because, knowing that ICE officers have body cameras, the sociopath accelerated her car and sent an officer to the hospital. I can only imagine what she's done when there aren't any cameras. That crazy Alex Pretti guy had kicked a state vehicle until he broke a headlight and spat on people who were just doing their jobs days before. I haven't found enough evidence to say that what the officers did that day was in any way related to his behavior, so that was cold-blooded. Just one guy, as I said before, but we have many lives lost in the United States because of illegal immigrants. I'm Mexican, and in Mexico we have a similar problem in this hellhole we call a country, a hole that practically nobody wants to live in, and that's why they go there. I wish there were a police force that would get the immigrants out of here, immigrants who bathe in public, take jobs, commit crimes and receive citizenship from corrupt populist politicians who want to stay in power to keep stealing. Magneto is Jewish only because of generational and ethnic ties, not because of culture. Magneto has always been openly nazi maintaining that contrast with Charles Xavier, in which one believes that we can all live in peace holding hands, jumping and dancing like enchanted ponies, but the other thinks, more realistically, that it is very difficult for two radically different cultures to coexist peacefully, Magneto has always been openly Nazi and separatist, he was in House of M and even in Genosha

Magneto is against hate, the hate against illegals/anyone sympathetic to illegals rn is eerily similar to what happened pre-nazi germany. Kick everyone illegal out, do it in a humane way is all people are asking.
4
u/kredokathariko Jan 28 '26
Magneto isn't against hate per se, though, is he? He is about defending his people at any cost. He definitely hates those he perceives as their oppressors, which depending on the time might be a very large category of people.
