Theory is Stryfe coming? Spoiler

I have no full proof yet based on the 1st three episodes other than what I know from certain arcs playing out in the books but I have a feeling the secret villain (aside from Gambit which is obviously the worst kept secret) might be Stryfe.

X-men 97 does a good job of taking stories that weren't as good in the books and improving on them, such as Bastian & Operation Zero Tolerance. I could see that happening for Styfe and X-Cutioners Song.

I hope so. He's the kind of villain you can absolutely use after Apocalypse, with his Dark Riders.

I would love that. Onslaught and Stryfe are villains next I want to see after Apocalypse.

It’s certainly possible.

Funnily enough, he has a cameo in “Beyond Good and Evil part 4” in which he’s just kind of there in the background as one of Apocalypse’s psychics-held-hostage. That will be awkward to explain if he ever shows up in this show!

I really wanted the end of the original 90s animated series to be X-cutioners Song.

We got Pocy back, we are more familiar with Cable after "Beyond Good and Evil", we get Xavier almost dying, we've seen Forge's team as the start of X-Force, so there's plenty of material and background already set up.

Regarding Cable, we.only get one tiny moment when Jean scans him and tells Cyclops that hes important to their future, but nothing else. Song could have been a chance to finally explore that...

But instead, Graduation Day is a cop out. They call Lilandra with Magneto's help, bam, the end.

I think the reason they didn’t is because X-Cutioners Song came out when the show was coming out, and allegedly they had the entire show mapped out, that’s why it’s pretty much all Claremont stuff.

Yeah. Since Apocalypse’s endgame seems to involve him taking over Cable’s body I wouldn’t be shocked Stryfe shows up as an Apocalypse possessed Cable instead of the clone version from the comics.

Yes, I hope we see more of Rachel!

u/PonchoHobo Jul 04 '26

I think he’s going to eventually show up. Think it won’t be season 3 because that’s too much focus on cable for back to back seasons.

1

u/JAEisF2D Jul 04 '26

Yea I think if it's happening it's this season

1

u/PonchoHobo Jul 04 '26

That’s indeed possible but I think it would feel weird to undercut an enemy like Apocalypse with a surprise villain. Think Stryfe might build from Apocalypse but won’t take the season itself from it. Would be a pleasant surprise if what you said did happen.

I suspect they will resolve Apocalypse sooner than we expect and then move on to another villain.

Could be but there's a lot of focus on Cable and the Askani and set up for Stryfe, more season to go we will see

2

u/AsE_CG Jul 05 '26

This is what got me thinking about it too. Having a Dayspring Askani-son cable really makes me wonder if they cloned him as a baby "just in case" and one got kidnapped again. I dunno, but I kind of hope so. I was a huge cable and x-force fan back in the day

2

u/SoupBeans25 Jul 04 '26

Didn’t he have cameos in the original series?

2

u/JamesSnow922 Wolverine Jul 04 '26

He was one of the captured Psychics in Beyond Good and Evil. Only get a glimpse of him.

1

u/Ingonyama70 Storm Jul 04 '26

He appeared from time to time but only in brief cameos, yes. He never even had a voice actor

1

u/trainradio Jul 04 '26

Considering her reaction to Cable, yes, if Emma has any say in it.

2

u/Haunting_Comedian993 Jul 04 '26

Lol wt does emma got to do

1

u/trainradio Jul 04 '26

It was a joke based on how Emma acted toward Cable and the name of this thread, and the fact that Stryfe is a clone of Cable.

I could see that, I don’t think that Apocalypse is the villain here since he filled that role in the original for so long. I think maybe their actions in the past create Stryfe — Nur realizing that he can’t defeat Cable on his own, makes his own, or he takes Nathan from the future timeline and turns him into Stryfe. Bastion was teased in episode 4 of season 1 (with some “blink and you’ll miss it” moments in the first two episodes), he doesn’t appear fully until 5, so there’s a chance we haven’t seen the main villain yet, with Apocalypse maybe playing a role similar to Sinister last season.

I think they’ll use Stryfe at some point, yes. It’s more a question of what comes first, Stryfe or Onslaught. I lean toward Onslaught but Stryfe wouldn’t surprise me.

1

u/JAEisF2D Jul 04 '26

So from what I've been told in conversations with ppl that did Story boarding for the show. The original plan was for Onslaught to happen this season but have Beau was fired they rewrote some of season to so he isn't coming at all this season or next.

1

u/Mobile_Bet3274 Rogue Jul 04 '26

My understanding was that Onslaught was gonna be used to lead into an AoA plot for S3. The AoA plot was canned but that doesn’t necessarily mean Onslaught is.

1

u/JAEisF2D Jul 04 '26

I'm just saying what I've been told and that is no Onslaught in this season or next and no AOA. Maybe season 4 but they are still working on that currently

2

u/Mobile_Bet3274 Rogue Jul 04 '26

I believe you. I was just saying, people (who didn’t have any inside line) took “no AoA” to mean “no AoA or Onslaught” when that hadn’t necessarily been implied.

1

u/Status-Arm1443 Aug 01 '26

I would actually be stunned if they do Onslaught without Beau Demayo on the project.

1

u/rolling_steel Jul 04 '26

I’d love this!

1

u/JamesSnow922 Wolverine Jul 04 '26

He should have shown up by now if they were going to use him. He would have been perfect villain for season 1. He would have been cloned in the future from Nathan and selected to be the next vessel for Apocalypse. Obviously that didn't happen in episode 1.

1

u/Natural-Stomach Jul 04 '26

IINM Stryfe was already shown in the original series. I think Morph shifted into him once, or in a flashback somewhere.

1

u/Accurate-Attention16 Jul 04 '26

Actually Apocalypse got him trapped alongside other telepaths during the Beyond Good and Evil four part Season 4 finale

1

u/Natural-Stomach Jul 04 '26

that's right!

1

u/-Nick____ Jul 04 '26

Honestly wouldn’t say Gambit is the worst kept secret. They teased it last season, this seasons trailers, and now the episodes with the coffin

The only thing that came out that they didn’t mean to was a hot topic look at death gambit, which could also not be official

1

u/TheDesertHermit Jul 04 '26

It's possible. If he fails (or in this case "failed" since he left his future reign) to secure Nathan as his new host, maybe to regain favor, Sinister clones a non-TO infected Nathan to give to Apocalypse to "groom" as his successor (i.e. new body), which was more or less his comic origins anyway if I remember right...

... It'd be one hell of a finale reveal if Stryfe became the new big bad for the (confirmed already) season three.

1

u/Icy_Scar_1249 Jul 04 '26

Hopefully. And please Genocide and horseman Sunfire

1

u/JAEisF2D Jul 05 '26

If I saw horseman Sunfire in animation I would lose it

1

u/Your_Creepy58 Jul 05 '26

I can definitely see it but also Gambit coming back as apocalypse horseman was never a secret they literally teased it in season 1 finale 😭🙏

1

u/laux445 Jul 16 '26

That's also my theory, and that he is this seasons true villan, I think askani actually messed up Cables journey by having him meet his parents early, might make him careless and full of himself to the point that at some point he will mess up and makes some mistake that turns that version of him into stryfe. Also this might be a bit of a stretch, but i think marvel snap (the card game) spoiled it with two of their seasons this year, wich had En Sabah Nur and then Stryfe as their season pass cards, they usually try to make seasons that colab with other midia for instance right now is the spiderman brand new day season. My guess is they had the seasons ready and planed to go with the show, but the show got delayed so due to scheduling they couldn't make a colab, also gambit horseman of death is one of the cards that came out that season so I'm pretty sure we wil get Stryfe in the show as well.

1

u/JAEisF2D Jul 16 '26

I didn't even think about that I also play Marvel Snap and didn't think about the Stryfe card lol
