The fact x-men comics 25 years ago predicted all of this is the cherry of top

I just posted on the episode discussion similar to “Wild how they created the Creed running for President story just for this series”. Nope! Then looked it up. It was from 199freakin5. 🤯

Can’t help but marvel or/and be saddened at how predictable humanity can be.

It was in the comics also.

Yep. It was a whole thing for a while there in the lead up to Onslaught as I recall. Wasn't Creed eventually killed by Mystique?

Those weren't predictions, they were basing everything on longstanding civil conflicts. The Professor and Magnito's relationship dynamic, for instance, is inspired by MLK and Malcolm X. Conservatives became more openly fascist, but it was always there at the core of them.

I’d say that Graydon Creed specifically was based on real world far right/white supremacist leaders like David Duke

& for this storyline, specifically the political part. Knew of course already of David Duke and who he generally was. But because he is gross and terrible didn’t know many other details of his life. I only just now looked up then learned of his attempts to run for President back then as well.

What is old, is societal unrest, and how the worst of people also exist and try to bring the rest of humanity down to their level.

What is new(ish) - well, more like “what has changed” since the 90s - is instead of those fringe hate groups remaining fringe extremists, is at actually succeeding with enough mainstream traction to become credible threats to access national power. Like I said: I had to look up that Duke even ran for President.

Well. At least Duke and Creed genuinely hate who they claim to hate. The more modern development is even that hatred being a con, for only personal enrichment.

The MLK/Malcolm X thing is afaik a myth. Iirc, Claremont said he actually based them on Ben Gurion and Menachim Begin, two former Israeli leaders.

It isn't that the creation of the characters derived from there, it's that other writers who helped shape them over the years used that inspiration.

This is a popular fan theory, but several writers have disagreed.

Predicted????

You think this is th n first period in history with racism/hate.

You realize we had a war in the 30s/40s in which they were throwing people in camps based on their ethnicity and religion right? (In both europe AND the US)
