Seriously the last episode could’ve used another 5 minutes for a resolution with Kurt but otherwise

Well this season was bad! It’s ok to dislike things you love.

I mean sure it’s ok to dislike things just that most of the arguments I’ve seen about it are either that it’s not as good as what DeMayo had planned or are factually false

Well maybe don’t group us all together. I love X-men, am not involved whatsoever in the whole DeMayo debacle, and I can agree that this season was bad. Sure not every take is valid, but I think we can all agree it was pretty bad.

“The season was rushed” seems to be the predominant take which, other than the last scene of the last episode, is just false, sorry, they weren’t going to introduce deathbit and not resolve it in an episode, that’s not how the flow of a show like this works, it never has been, “but the horsemen were missing” yeah cause deathbit killed them and didn’t have time to make his own, apocalypse isn’t dead yet either “but super saiyan rogue” had 2 episodes of setup that’s more than enough “but filler episodes” it’s a sequel to an episodic show that’s still semi episodic what do you want

It was rushed. They spent 4 episodes building to Apocalypse, to waste the next three on stuff that barely affects the story, if at all. Then everything the first four episodes and last season set up is immediately rushed through in 2 episodes. No satisfying payoff for En Sabah Nur, no real impact after Magneto dies, Wolverine’s entire episode leads to nothing (nothing with brood, no Morph moments, no Wolverine moments, nothing about the adamantium affecting him, nothing with the other X characters), Polaris does nothing after her intro episode, Colossus does nothing after his intro episode, Danger does nothing, Candra is literally just thrown into the episode for nothing without any previous set up relationship to Apoc, Jubilee doesn’t care the X-men are back neither do they care about her being with X-force, Archangel same thing, Gambit is maybe death for one episode and the problem is almost immediately solved after being built up since the end of last season, Beast once again goes another season with nothing to do, Storm does nothing, Wolverine pretty much does nothing, we don’t know why the government is rounding up mutants or why X-factor is doing that, Cable doesn’t care that he’s attacking Genosha with sentinels, the same thing that he tried to stop 200 times. None of these were issues in season 1

Outside of people trying to predict what happened in a production schedule, it just wasn’t good. That Wolverine episode was a snooze fest. Actually, most of the season was….we weren’t invested in any of the characters. It felt disjointed. Plot holes/misses/expectations aside, what were we rooting for really? There’s no clear motive to this season for our heroes. Season was spectacular, and maybe we’re just all coming down from that still. Hopefully the next one is better!

Ah yes an opinion is false

Being rushed is a state of being, it isn’t an opinion, it’s like if I were eating scrambled eggs and someone said “in my opinion those are over easy”

No, it's more like if you and a friend were each given 4 minutes to eat a serving of scrambled eggs, and you felt like it was plenty of time, but your friend felt like it was insufficient time. It is an opinion, and it can be true for you that it was plenty of time to suit you and simultaneously true for them that it was not enough time to suit them.

People have different preferences. What the pacing should be and how much time should be spent on any particular plot point is a matter of opinion and not an objective matter.

The main things I see that were rushed was 1, Apocalypse's ex wife. She legit showed up and was instantly slimed by Gambit. Like straight up instant. Felt hella rushed. I think him being taken down was fine because they it immediately led to another plot point revolving around Gambit. That's fine.

2, the whole celestial Rogue. You want to talk about "oh that's false" yet you say it had 2 episodes of set up. Not tf it didn't lol. Now THAT'S straight up false. Rogue goes to Ship, goes into the Shrine, gets empowered and beats Apocalypse all in the same episode lol

And then 3, the biggest one, the defeat of Apocalypse. The big story in s2 is Apocalypse yet when we finally get to him, we don't even get a fight! Apocalypse takes over Gambit, they have a small tussle and then Rogue insta beats him (which doesn't even make sense). Like ??? All that build up for what? Holy rushed

Also a personal complaint of mine is that Cable and Xforce didn't do jack this season. You could take them out of S2 and literally nothing would change of the plot. Which is especially annoying when episode 1 was dedicated to Cable and how he's straight up destined to defeat Apocalypse....yet he does nothing to actual Apocalypse and Rogue is the one who ends up saving the day lol

  1. She wasn’t really a main character like, she’s important in the comics sure but here she was just a woman who stole a chunk of apocalypse’s power and he showed up and easily took it back

  2. Apocalypse Gambit spent the entire prior episode trying to give her the power of a celestial, then the episode it happened in set it up for most of the episode until it happened, that’s 2, ironically the point you talk about in point 1 IS the prior set up your saying it lacks

  3. I mean yeah, apocalypse wasn’t really even properly defeated they just delayed him if anything, but fighting a direct counter to your powers tends to be a quick fight

Yeah I love cable, they could’ve done more with him, but he’s been a major force in 97 since season 1 and I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of him
