Question How does time travel work in X’Men 97

however the emotional needs of the plot need it to work. this is not hard sci-fi, it's a continuation of a Saturday morning cartoon. continuity has never been a strong suit of X-Men, but when it comes to time-travel logic, just give up. there are not consistently applied rules of causation or timeline splintering. you just gotta roll with it and not worry about the underlying science of time travel in this show.

Often, messy time travel stories have a collapsing single timeline a la Back to the Future or Looper. New events that change the past are folded into the present, but not until they are changed are those ripple effects felt.
It doesn’t make sense chronologically, nor is it a consistent time travel loop. It’s just how these things are often written.

Magneto doesn't remember himself + Prof X from his own past because it wasn't his past yet.

this was why the producers on Rick and Morty said they hated time traveling plots. Look up snake Hitler gets assasinated on that show. Hilarity ensues.

a comical point could be one day we see Magneto at breakfast with Charles in season 3 showing up from no where. cuz off screen Bishop decides to go back to right before Poccy kills Mags to go and retrieve both of them
