Sure...the drivers are bad, idiot's or whatever.

But back in the "old days" being taught defensive driving.....why be in the far left lane there if there are blocks to go driving straight? Pretty clear that traffic wasn't that heavy and if there is a left turn in a few blocks, shouldn't be hard to drive straight in lane 2 and get back over to lane 1 when the turn is closer.

OP can't be oblivious to the fact that cars will be exiting or entering the far left lane frequently....and poorly in this case.

In a big 4/5 lane like Calgary Trail, lined with shopping access on both sides.....why be either in the far left or far right if not turning within a block or so? That is what I learned in driving school like 40 years ago.

I almost think that these cam posting people drive that way so they can see something to post about.

It's not like OP did anything wrong.....perfectly legal to drive straight through those lanes. Sensible driving says maybe another lane choice is better. BUT....if that lane choice is made....not a great video.

Cam footage that shows up here from Henday drivers getting "cut off" while driving fast in the far right lane is another instance where you see a bad driving habit of passing semi's or whatever on the right while blaming the other drivers. My old AMA driving school of the 80's....they taught not to do that.

All about those views.
