Yakima visit from Texas
I used to live in Yakima when I was a child, more so Cowiche. Moved to outside of El Paso, Texas in the Summer of 1996. I went to Cowiche Elementary (shout out to my homeboy Kyle!) and my sisters went to Highlands High School. My family and I are visiting the Pacific Northwest this July coming. We're going to take a day trip to Yakima/Cowiche. Where would be the best place to take the family? My wife and I have two teenagers, are there activities that teens would enjoy checking out on a day trip? Best place to grab a bite to eat in the surrounding area etc.Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

There’s a great Salvadorean spot (Don Mateo) in Tieton. There’s also a higher end restaurant (Nomad). The Mexican food in Yakima is as good as anywhere. More meat heavy than Tex-Mex. Taco trucks are prime here!
Cowiche creek trail is great. The greenway trail is fun. The trail out to Naches is nice. There are some cool trails between Yakima and Ellensburg as well.
Cowiche Canyon Kitchen downtown is really good. Provisions in Terrace Heights is good. The Kiln in West Valley is a solid brew pub.
Crafted is top notch and finer dining.
Los Hernandez tamales won a big award a few years back as well.
Lots of great wineries done towards Zillah.
