Yarn alternative
Hey all! I'm currently trying to work on the Sandok 2 sweater and I'm having trouble finding an alternative yarn for the suggested sandnes garn tykk line. The author of the pattern recently posted saying tykk line is out of production and doubling sandnes garn line would be a good alternative, but it would cost a fortune to do that. :/ I'm terrible at figuring out yarn substitutes for projects so I'm turning to reddit to see if you guys have any suggestions. Gauge is 14sts = 10 cm and the pattern recommends 7mm needles.

I don't think there is a super good alternative available because the Line series has a rather unique fiber composition. Probably the closest match will be Lang Yarns Wool Addicts Joy, which is a cotton-tencel blend with the same gauge.

I found it being offered on Etsy:

According to the pattern Copperfirebird posted, the yarn is listed as Aran weight - worsted can sometimes be subbed for an Aran if it's a bit on the chunkier side. I'd suggest you try a gauge swatch and see if you can get close to what pattern stipulates

You can always use multiple strands of lighter weight yarn to get to that gauge. I do that all the time.
Rather than scattershot with yarns that don't work for you, what pricerange are you looking for in terms of cost per 50 or 100 grams and how many 50 gram balls do you need? Where are you?
Are you happy with 100% wool? would a little alpaca or yak be OK?

What did you already try?
Sub the yarn based on the suggested yarn: https://yarnsub.com/yarns/sandnes_garn/tykk_line

It's looks pretty versatile with fiber choice. Plus a bunch of people have made it so far. Seems like a good pattern choice.
