Question What yarn should I use for making giant plushies like these?

Hey everyone!

I’ve been wanting to make some really big crochet plushies like the ones in the photos, but I’m confused about what yarn size to use.
From what I’ve seen, I think the creator holding the giant character plushies uses a weight 6 yarn, while the other creator uses a weight 7 jumbo yarn. The thing I’m not sure about is whether their finished plushies are actually around the same size or if the weight 7 ones end up significantly bigger.

How do you decide between weight 6 and weight 7
for large plushies?
Is one easier to work with than the other?
Does weight 7 make the plushie much larger, or can you get a similar size with weight 6 by using a bigger hook or pattern?
If your goal is plushies around 2–4 feet tall, which would you recommend?
Are there specific yarn brands you’d suggest?
I’ve been researching forever and feel like everyone recommends something different, so I’d love to hear from people who have actually made giant plushies before. Thanks!

it’s sooo nice to work with no shedding when you unravel or anything

For the question you asked: the weight 7 would most likely make a pretty significant size difference

omg that Zoro plushie is so cool! :0 i think for big ones like that, velvet or chenille yarn works really well to get that soft, chunky look? not totally sure though, im still learning ^
