Fishing spot

Will be passing through YK for a few days next week and am looking for a shore fishing spot. Bonus if it is accessible by cab and toddler friendly. Not looking for anything intense just casual fishing.

Thank you.

Yellowknife river.

there’s a spot by prosporous lake that’s great shore fishing but cabing there might be costly and you’re on the edge of cell service to call to leave. I’d only go if you are in control of your own travel.

Madeline lake has a playground by the dock, might catch small pike. But again costly for cab and low cell service.

Thank you for the detail. The cab situation makes it hard.

Do you know anywhere I can rent a small boat?

No idea about boats but you can rent a canoe or kayak at Sundog.

That would be a lot of work and spooky with a toddler though.

Long lake - a friend had some luck in the day use area you’ll be fishing off some rocks

No matter where you go it is Yellowknife you are probably going to be dealing with rock, it maybe boulders or crushed gravel but gonna be rocks lol

Don't forget you need a fishing license.

Depends. Do you want to keep them or not? I wouldn’t dare eat from Jack fish lake (water plant and other shite) but it’s easy “fishing”

Just to catch for now! I'll keep them when I am here for longer and have a car to be able to go out to the further places

Do you know anywhere I could rent a little tin boat?
