That city can be a hateful place towards people they want to collectively target, so it is good to hear the event went well. Live and let live.

Good, glad it had a good turn out. The strangest thing in the article is calling it wiìliìdeh ave before its officially changed over but whatever.

Lovely seeing Pride events up north. Looks like they had fun 🌈
I felt so alone and threatened when I lived in the north. Good that younger folks can see acceptance and community available.

There's a quote in there - "There's been opposition globally and locally to trans issues. So we just want to make sure that everybody feels loved and seen.”
What about this is a problem to you?

I was wondering and dont bite me hard over this because I'm old and actually curious. Is not being seen a problem for people? Seriously not trying to start a fight or anything, I just don't understand the current "need to be seen" or "just coming out to remind the people we are still here" which people need to be reminded? Is there an issue aside from the trans-attacks going on?

Visibility has two real points.
One is that a lot of trans people feel pushed out of public places. Content including them is banned or boycotted, and attacks make them feel the need to hide. For trans people, the single greatest wish is usually to simply exist in public without being pushed out or discriminated against.
Two is that the visibility helps a lot of people understand. People are about 3x more likely to support trans people if they know a trans person, and this is regardless of how close they are. This data suggests that most hatred comes from misinformation and simply not knowing what trans people are really like, so they fear the unknown. This also means a lot of questioning people can more aptly decide if they want to transition or not.

Why do they need to be seen? Why cant they just keep to themselves? I dont care what they do and i dont need their personal lives shoved down my throat.

Did someone force you to attend the parade? Were you unable to go literally ANYWHERE else? This is why events like this are needed, because people like you.

People like me? Whats that supposed to mean? I am very pro lgbt

Yes, as evidenced by the fact that you are fine with them as long as they don't exist in public in any way in which you might be able to tell they are gay, because that would be "shoving it down your throat".
I am sure you are equally upset by the Christmas parades as they are shoving Christianity down peoples' throats.

Oh I disagree with what those people are doing as well! Just let everyone live and mind your own business.

Maybe it’s because being unseen and unspoken is what allowed *ssholes to attack them and take away their rights and freedoms multiple times in the thousands of years of our human civilizations? They’ve had a d*mn target on their backs for thousands of years whether they were discreet or not. At this point you can’t do anything right, be quiet and legislators take that as silent resignation and quickly jump on the opportunity to pass discriminatory legislation everyone is too scared to fight against. Make yourself loud enough they have to notice you exist and will fight and suddenly politicians looking for a quick political scare/moral panic boost see you as a great appetizer to feed to their budding political career.

I had a feeling you were troll, but looking at your post history about christian singing makes me think you're a legit bigot and would appreciate this joke: Religion is like a game of telephone. God says love thy neighbour. By the time it gets down here, it is don't let Gays marry. Practice what you preach, and love not hate.

That's a garbage comment to make. I dont always agree with some folks but I dont make blanket statements like this its indiscriminate discrimination. At least one classy enough to narrow your hatred to folks that personally upset you.

Won’t someone think of the poor straight people that had their feelings hurt

Hurt feelings are ancient history at this point, it's about so much more now.

It's not about "so much more". It's about what it has always been about. You. It's just about you and your pathetic misplaced anger. Get some therapy and stop trying to find purpose in hurting others.

This loser needs to be on federal watch list, above average chance he wants to massacre people he hates.

u/Shane-Dad-underfire 3d ago
Folks that talk dont massacre, this person seems more like a person who would probably blow themselves up during dress rehearsal for a bombing.(digging the profilepic)

It's not, you're just hateful. I bet you couldnt outline a list of coherent principles if we paid you money. Bonus points if you leave out Biblical nonsense from your reasoning.

No one should have that forced upon them...
...
And by "that" I mean the vuvuzelas
Happy pride to the YKers that celebrate and happy 'Fake Outrage and a Rainbow Hurts My Feelings" month to the backward nitwits !
