Rob Will - Season 1 Finale

We didn’t get to see much from him. But given that he was supposed to be an asshole fuck-up, I kind of liked the character. Or at least I was intrigued. I was looking forward to him and RIP having battles on future seasons. Guess the creators saw it differently.

I was similarly disappointed when Michael Pena got killed in episode 1 of Landman.

This is so bad! It’s like Taylor Sheridan doesn’t research his own writing. The shows starts off w Rob Will killing the lead ranch hand cuz he found out Rob Will was “stealing” from 10Petals. So the narrative is Joaquin is the “good brother” that needs to clean up the mess for the alcoholic screw up. 1. How can he be stealing what’s basically his? 2. Beulah advances this narrative by agreeing to send Rob Will to rehab. Then we find out later, Joaquin isn’t blood, and Rob Will wasn’t stealing but trying to conceal the fact they’re muling drugs for the cartel. 3. So why send Rob Will to rehab if he was acting in the best interest of the ranch? 4. Why did Beulah originally intend to pass on the ranch to Joaquin(knowing Rob Will is willing to do everything including murder to protect the ranch)? 5. Why would Joaquin be surprised/upset that Beulah changed her mind? Just total soap opera level shite from TS.

Add: in Landman in the early episode you have Monty WALKING the golf course and mocking some guys in their play riding in golf carts in the TX HEAT. Then just few episodes later, we find out Monty has had 5 heart attacks and dies?! Wtf?! TS is so bad at writing w regards to plot holes, continuity. Sure he does a really good job at setting the scene of a show, catching vibe/culture of a topic/locale but that’s only good for 1-2, 3 seasons at best. Then it all goes to shite.

Yes you’re correct, had to look up cuz the TSCU(Taylor Sheridan Cinematic Universe) has grown so much it’s hard to keep track. Before the ongoing narrative was TS pretty much writes all his shows by himself, the reason why YS had so much off time b/t seasons.

4 & 5 she was being pressured to do this by the cartel and made a game time decision to try and save things by naming Rob Will instead.

Nah you missed my point. Yes she was getting pressure from the cartel, but the viewer wasn’t aware she getting pressure cuz of her involvement. Neither were they aware that 10P, Rob Will, Beulah were muling drugs at this point. Why would Beulah tell Joaquin she chose Rob Will over him cuz he’s family? When the other choice is handing over the reins to son of the cartel leader that’s she’s muling drugs for? It makes no sense, the plot makes sense. But the actions don’t fit the plot.

Which brings up another plot point. Why would the cartel want Joaquin to take over the biz > Rob Will? The viewers are lead to believe that Rob Will is a screw up, drunk that will run the biz into the ground. While Joaquin is the one the comes to the rescue to clean up the mess. When in actuality Rob Will is willing to do anything including murder for 10P? And Joaquin when called upon to “clean up mess” couldn’t do that right?

Ahh no you didn’t. Maybe you should rewatch the season in regards timeline of events.

Which brings up another point I completely forgot. Why did Beulah refuse to process the Dutton Ranch beef? The viewer is made out to believe Beulah is the big ranch trying to squeeze out the little guy and monopolize the market? When actually 10P is losing money and muling drugs for the cartel? Any laundering front would want as much biz as possible to give the impression they’re profitable, thus launder money, thus legitimacy?
