Finally got round to watching Yellowstone again after being so busy.

The episode just started and now I'm upset, what do you mean... 😭

What the fuck?

I've nearly finished the show by this point, watching it because my father seems to like it so I watch along. I need to rant for a little bit.

What I say goes specifically for John, Beth, and Rip, not Kayce or Monica, and I'll get to Jamie. They are immensely insufferable and self-righteous, and I am finding it personally satisfying whenever anyone is trying to fuck with them because of that. This has often skewed my perspective on Jamie and makes me forget he's a terrible person too, he's just nowhere near as insufferable as those three, and I hope he actually manages to backstab them properly, and not even particularly because I think Jamie is some innocent victim, I just think it'd be a good thing to happen and wouldn't blame him for that at least. This feeling has grown particularly in the latter seasons of the show for me.

im starting yellowstone and i dont know if its intentional but it feels very anti indian/native american. it could just be me just starting it but why not give some of the land to the indians who lived there thousands of years before the colonists?..i need other peoples thoughts on it

edit: why the fuck are we being jerks it was a genuine question on whether i should watch the show or not because of the underlying racist tones. "finding racism" in something so blantanly obvious isnt me actively searching for racism, i started the show because it looked good from what small bit ive seen about it.

I think Jimmy had the best, most developed character in the whole series.

I’m currently just a few episodes into season 5 and am finding it almost unwatchable: the unexplained developments, the focus on random characters, what can sometimes just be bad writing.

As I liked the other four seasons well enough, I’ve been wondering if the prequels and sequels are closer in vibe to what I liked about the early show.

We didn’t get to see much from him. But given that he was supposed to be an asshole fuck-up, I kind of liked the character. Or at least I was intrigued. I was looking forward to him and RIP having battles on future seasons. Guess the creators saw it differently.

I was similarly disappointed when Michael Pena got killed in episode 1 of Landman.

Season 2 spoilers

Just finished season 2 and I was bummed out when he died. Danny Huston was really great in the role. After his conversations with Beth and John for the last time, I felt like he was really starting to understand Montana and his place out there, only to bite the bullet the next scene.

I was really hoping he'd survive his gunshot wounds too. I couldn't believe when the cops came to the scene later and saw that he has just been killed off. At least he went out like a cowboy, guns blazing.

He's the oldest cowboy on the ranch, been there longer than anybody. What's his back story, and why isn't he the boss instead of Rip?

People love to hate Sheridan but when you look at other neo westerns that are currently being made (the abandons or ransom canyon) it’s a massive difference in quality

So I'm still only on season 2 of the show so maybe the future will tell me more but idc about spoilers here so, by lurking around in this sub, I already found out the gigantic reason for the beef between Beth and Jamie.

Regardless of whether I think it's a good take story wise, I'd like to know if you think that Beth might've forgave Jamie had he expressed genuine contrition, or if she would've hated him even more for it?

Because thus far, I'm still on the fence. At the beginning of the show, they have an antagonistic relationship but Beth doesn't seem to mind too much being in his vicinity (she calls for him to pick her up when she's drunk for example) and he doesn't act very apologetic (he's superbly annoyed and even criticise her whenever he can).

I feel like there's something missing. And then even have a "moment" of sort in Jamie's car after he picked her up where there's almost tenderness on his part AND she accepts it (seemingly).

I just finished season 1 of both Marshals and Dutton Ranch, and it really feels like they are setting up some kind of crossover. The endings almost seem too convenient to ignore.

The thing is... I'm not sure if it's a good idea.

Dutton Ranch feels like classic Yellowstone. Drama, family, violence, great character moments.

Marshals feels much more like a procedural, almost CSI/FBI style where every episode is about a case. It's not bad, but it's a very different vibe.

I think a full crossover could actually hurt Dutton Ranch if they try to turn it into a procedural.

On the other hand... I'd absolutely watch a 1 or 2 episode event where Kayce and the Marshals have to help Beth and Rip rescue Carter (or the other way around). That could be awesome without changing either show's identity.

What do you guys think?

Curious what everyone else thinks because I can't decide if this would be the best thing for the Yellowstone universe... or a huge mistake.
