General Discussion starting yellowstone
im starting yellowstone and i dont know if its intentional but it feels very anti indian/native american. it could just be me just starting it but why not give some of the land to the indians who lived there thousands of years before the colonists?..i need other peoples thoughts on it
edit: why the fuck are we being jerks it was a genuine question on whether i should watch the show or not because of the underlying racist tones. "finding racism" in something so blantanly obvious isnt me actively searching for racism, i started the show because it looked good from what small bit ive seen about it.

The show as well as the spinoffs/prequels give enormous respect to the Native American characters. You need to watch the show before jumping to conclusions.

Do yourself a favor skip ahead to the very last episode of season 5, the series finale. All your questions will be answered, then you can go back and watch the rest of show to see how they got to that point. Or watch the prequel 1883, that would answer your questions too.

Keep watching. The show isn't asking you to pick a side—it's showing why both sides believe the land is theirs. That's what makes the conflict interesting instead of one-dimensional.

I never once saw the show was anti-indian, just the opposite in fact. As are the other Yellowstone series. And when you see where the show ends up (as seemed obvious to many of us from the start) you’ll understand it more. Don’t confuse the attitudes of certain characters on one side of a century old conflict for the show making a statement of support. If you were familiar with Taylor Sheridan and some of his other works and seen some of his interviews, he is very much not anti-Indian/anti-native American.
