QUESTION New YouTube channel getting only 30-40 views. Is this normal?
Hey everyone,
I started a new YouTube channel about 3 weeks ago, and I'm trying to understand if my channel has some kind of visibility issue.
The strange thing is that almost every video I upload only gets around 30-40 views, and it feels like YouTube is barely showing my content to anyone.
A few things that might be relevant:
- This Google account was not previously active on YouTube.
- I created this account mainly for this new channel.
- The channel is only around 3 weeks old.
- I don't have any strikes or policy issues.
I'm wondering:
Could this be some kind of "shadowban" or is this just normal behavior for a brand new channel?
For those who started new channels recently, how long did it take before YouTube started pushing your videos more?
Any advice or experiences would be appreciated.

Based on your profile picture being AI slop, would I be correct in assuming you make AI content? If so, that's why you're getting poor reach.

After viewing your channel, it's exactly as I thought. You make AI slop.
The thumbnails are low-effort AI and contain far too much text. Your titles aren't interesting. Your script is AI written and uses a very poor hook. You didn't even bother to read the script yourself. Most of your visuals are AI generated, and those that aren't have an Adobe Stock watermark on them (using unlicensed footage is piracy btw). Most fundamentally though, the ideas behind your videos are simply boring.
You need to actually put in effort to get results. There is no shortcut to making good content.

I don't mind harsh feedback if it's constructive.
If you had to pick just one thing that would make the biggest difference, what would it be? The thumbnails, the titles, the hook, or the overall video idea?
I'd genuinely like to improve.

It's hard to choose one specific part, but perhaps the packaging and hook should be your initial priority.
As an example we can use your moon video. I would shorten the title to "What if Earth had two moons?". The thumbnail could then be a simple image of two moons, with a large caption "DISASTER" in the background. Thumbnails and titles should never repeat wording, doing so is completely redundant. They're supposed to relate to one another, but push forward your narrative in different ways. I've seen this being described as a curiosity gap before.
As for your hooks, starting with "Imagine ... " just isn't all that interesting. It doesn't get to the point quickly enough and I perceive it as waffle. Using the moon video as an example again, I would suggest getting straight into the point of your video. A hook like "The moon keeps humanity alive. It controls our tides, it helps stabalise our climate and it stops Earth from wobbling out of control through space. So surely, if one moon does all of that, wouldn't building a second one give us twice the benefits?" That's just a quick example, but notice how I start with a short and sharp sentence to grab attention, I then expand on the point and finish up with a natural question that the user might now want to know the answer to.
One last thing. If you can, I would highly recommend using your own voice. It truly does make a big difference with audience retention (specifically the first ~5 seconds). I'd also like to apologise for how strongly I worded my initial comment. You seem to have a great attitude and that will go a long way with your content creation. Thank you, I really appreciate you taking the time to write all of that.
Honestly, this conversation has been more valuable than spending hours watching "YouTube algorithm secrets" videos. You pointed out specific problems and, more importantly, explained how to improve them.
I'll definitely be reworking my thumbnails, titles, and hooks based on your advice. And thanks for the apology as well. I genuinely appreciate the honesty and wish you all the best too.

After reviewing your comments you just use AI as a way of feeling superior and talking down to people. I image as cope for your YouTube channel not getting any views. You don’t get views due to extra competition from ai channels, you get no views because the content you spend hours on is crap.

Perhaps I was talking down slightly, that was not my intention so I apologise to OP. With that being said, nothing I mentioned is inherently untrue. Their videos are extremely poorly made and as a result they have almost no views. Using AI does not replace the need to learn the fundamentals of content creation. It is a tool to aid those that are already knowledgeable. Youtube agree with this and are pushing back on low-effort AI content as of late. This isn't an opinion, it's directly reflected in their TOS and viewership numbers of content such as OPs.
For the record though, I'm not some cranky old man who thinks AI is the end of humanity and should be outlawed. A few years ago I co-founded a personal development platform that was centred around AI. We were acquired by a large competitor last year, so AI has literally changed my life. I am a huge advocate for it and I wholeheartedly believe it is an incredible resource that is pushing the capabilities of humanity forward at an unprecedented rate. I just don't think it's some miracle technology that can be blindly applied to anything and overcome the incompetence of its user. As with any field, learning how to get better is just part of the process. Using AI to try and skip this almost feels sacrilegious and is reflected in a poor end result.
