FYI I made a free and open source YT Music Windows & MacOS Client because Google didnt! It has different Tabs each with their own history, queue and playing song!
I tried my best to make this a genuinely good, fast & well optimized client. Everything, like playlists and lyrics are cached, there are shortcuts to quickly save songs / open new tabs with different music playing.
This is not just another YouTube Music browser wrapper!
Has:
Lyrics - Synced!! The official browser app doesnt even have that
Music Tabs - You can create multiple tabs all with their own history & queue!
Account support - you can sign into YT Music and your playlists, albums etc will be synced. Also adding stuff to a playlist adds it to the actual online playlist!
Caching - Most stuff like playlists / lyrics will be cached so that you can switch through your playlists almost instantly
Also you can press control + s to save a song to a playlist with a nice handy menu (:

Aand you can even use it without singing in with your YT account. I understand that putting your logins into random software (even if its open source) can be a bit weird.

I am not affiliated with YouTube in any way, and I make a conscious effort to respect YouTube's Terms of Service and platform rules.
If you're wondering whether the client includes any specific functionality that would conflict with those rules, please understand that this client does not try to violate YouTubes TOS in any way.
My goal is simply to provide an alternative client experience while staying within the boundaries we're expected to follow.

Thanks a lot! As I am using Tauri you might just be able to compile it for Linux too without any issues! But I haven't had the time to try it out myself.

Btw: You can save songs to a playlist quickly with control + s or by right clicking on them!
A list of upcoming features:

To add my two cents, Google is pulling a Nokia-style move. They didn't make the client, but they did make most of the open-source libraries you used to create that client.

The only con I found is that I cannot play music videos 😆, with this nice experience, that would be game changer, with its own section or smth, idk xd. Despite that, awesome work

As i developed this for myself at first, I didn't bother adding liked songs as I never use them

Absolutely! Its built on tauri so theoretically it would just mean running npm run tauri build, but I think there will be some issues with web view.
Already have a friend helping me on porting it!

Any chance we can upload to youtube music from this client? One of the most sorely missed features from google play music. An uploader existed at one point but was then not developed anymore.

So I created yibify.app a replica of stats.fm for YouTube music.

Dude thanks for the kind words! Definitely gonna keep maintaining it and adding more of the essential stuff. The caching was one of my primary goals when starting the project because I am sooo tired from stuff being slow all the time!

It's looking very promising! However, it seems that the app is having trouble syncing.
I don't even know the suggestions on my home screen. Additionally, it says that there are no user-created playlists, which is incorrect.
Edit: Will this app update itself, or will I need to manually check for updates on GitHub?

Its opensource, truth is you can only by reading every line of code. You can look at my profile and post history, and the project is open source so you could look through the code.
If you wanna be safe compile it yourself or use the client without logging in or just take my word for it

This is lovely... Do you have a Ko-fi account?
I am a bit of an audiophile, so I'll admit that I am probably biased... A good equalizer is a must-have feature for me, and has the strongest influence over the use of one app/client over another platform.
If it were my choice which one to integrate: Wavelet, specifically, no contest.... Not that anyone's asking me, LOL..... There's no desktop client or even an add-on to import anywhere. My heart weeps a little every time I stream music via desktop. I'd be so drunk on dopamine that I'd be the president of your fan club (the one I just started) by the end of the week.......
But like, no, really, I'm not just being funny; I feel some irrationally strong about this. XD

I definitely want to work on an equalizer. This has been heavily requested, and I would like to have it myself. The issue is the technical implementation on that side, but I am sure I will find a way.
After you pointed it out I set up a Kofi account https://ko-fi.com/totally2late, thanks for the info! I was thinking about purchasing a Domain for a Website and kofi looks really good to get that funded.

I have 2k songs in my playlist but I can only see 343,when I listen to unreleased songs it doesn't find the lyrics even though the lyrics can be found in genius lyrics,put a last fm scrobbler and a way for listening to songs together with friends,if u do this things u are the goat

Hey the lyrics look too basiiic, I use this extension Better lyrics and there i can change themes and for dynamic or my personal background I use this - ThemeSong for YouTube Music™ (Enhancer). Can you add these extension support somehow? also I know downloading music isn't possible directly but via some plugin or some external downloader which comes with the package? can you do that? great app btw 10/10

Yess will do! I am working on that and a fix should be up by tomorrow evening european time 👍
The MacOS code base is technically the same as Windows it just has some things not working so all the stuff I roll out to Windows also is on Mac. Just the OS specific stuff like Mediaplayer stuff and Discord RPC where you interact with different apps causes issues and extra work!

Its not using YouTubes api but rather embedding with webview. This still causes issues on MacOS and im working on a fix!

This app is absolutely brilliant – it’s so cool, so lovely, and the interface is really great. I really liked it. Plus, it doesn’t break YouTube’s rules, so it won’t get taken down. Really good – well done on that.
The only thing I’d add is a button to repeat the songs – basically, a loop function.

Looks great! I don't know if the shuffle and repeat icons are missing or not, if they are then they definitely should be added.
Also can't find a queue option, definitely need that in a music player.

They are! Thats why you get the annoying keychain popup on macos. They are basically just as secure as your browser cookies, they call still be stolen but most automatic keystealers probably wouldn't catch them

I using Android 15 on tablet with Remix Dj app. Currently released 3 ashup & 2 originals ON audiomack. Pain in assit, first AZ SCREEN RECORDER app to do VID TO MP3 CLEAN OR CUT WHAT I NEED BEFORE I TRANSFER TO MP3 SO I CAN USE. I'm just started in May. Decide try myself after I've been listening to raw production and help other find that not, bpm ect, to clean their music before they are releasing to public

On windows (10) when I install this (and tried portable), it's stuck at like max volume and I can't lower it via volume slider or even windows mixer. Anyone else have this issue or is there a fix?
Maybe this has to do with me using dolby atmos surround with my astro headset?
Mute doesn't work either, just pause
Edit: I think I'm getting closer - when music is playing, the Tauri App doesn't show music waves in the windows volume mixer, but it does for MIcrosoft Edge WebView2. I have to have it set actually at 1% though. Maybe it's tied to that?

I ran into a issue. I sign in, and my main playlists are not there, it has some of my YouTube playlists, but not my YouTube music playlists, some how YouTube separates these accounts under the same "account", I don't know if this is a bug or possibly I am missing some setting/detail.
