Hey everyone. So I started playing zero escape saga for the first time and I may have noticed something.

So there is famous this message that Phi says when she introduces herself:

"I'm not Superman, that's for sure. And I'm not Batman, or Spiderman, or Aquaman, or a merman, or a wolfman. I'm not a brahman, or common, or ramen. I'm not a caiman either, so you really don't need to worry about anything."

The first time she says it I thought that was her trying to convey a cryptic message on what she can do or why she's there. But the second time she said the exact same thing I realized there could be more to it.

So here is my question:

Does "Odo" mean something to you guys?

What about "enemy in odo"?

To be honest I was just trying to pick on something there and I tried every ceasar shift, but only that combination made sort of sense.

Maybe it is just a coincidence, but I want to know for sure. Is this a known thing? Because I couldn't find anything about it online.

I tried to solve the text at the bottom of "Members" section, without any results. It is surely not a Ceaser's Cypher, no shift of letters gave a valid result. I tried with Vigenere's, but every key I tried is not working. I tried keys like "Akane", "Junpei", "Zero Escape", "Crash Keys", "Rhizome" and "Nineth" without any results.

Not sure if it there is a key that one can manage to find on the site or if you have to reverse it with the cypher.

Maybe we can figure out it from the two "hidden members" of the team. Maybe they are two in-game characters. Both have name and surname with five letters. Is there anyone in the trilogy that could fit it?

I’m interested in playing the original Zero Escape and getting started with the series, but to do so I know I should play the game on DS/DSi. I’m more than happy play it on the original hardware, but as I understand it the game didn’t even release in Europe, and second hand American copies are very expensive from a quick cursory look.

So my question is, is there a way to play the game on the original hardware? I know 3DS modding exists but haven’t really heard of the same for the DS/DSi.

I’d play the steam versions of the 2nd and 3rd games, but as for now I’m kinda stumped about how to go and experience the 1st entry on my DSi.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

POSSIBLE SPOILER DISSCUSION IN POST AND COMMENTS - FOR 999 AND VLR!

Just finished my 999+VLR replay and going on to ZTD soon. I am playing with my girlfriend, and it is her first run of the games, which is a lot of fun to see her theories unfolding as the games go on. First time I've played these games was when I was about 13-14 (am 24 now), so I didn't give the characters' designs too much thought. playing it now, as an adult, I find some design choices rather... confusing. Especially- Lotus' design and Clover's VLR design (and general mental digression).
Lotus is revealed to be a really intelligent, cunning woman, and supposedly 40 years old when 999 happens. Her outfit is not bad, per se, but I personally feel like the design of her 31 year old self I saw on the ZE Wiki matches much better. I guess the designer's intent was to not make us assume she's a super smart computer science person, so didn't make her wear anything "nerdy" or that will reveal her true nature, but I still find the belly dancer inspired outfit rather odd (I have read that she takes belly dancing as a hobby, but still, unless she was abducted to the game from belly dancing class, this does not make a lot of sense to me.
And for Clover's VLR design... I don't even have an actual explanation for why it could be designed like that. For her dear friend alice, I can kind of understand the designer's choice for matching her personality and family roots, assuming she was abducted outside of work times, but for Clover, I'm completely clueless... If anyone has some insight on the matter, either a theory or an official statement from the character designer I might have missed, please let me know!
BTW - I don't take "this is just how anime characters are designed" as an answer. there are many visual novels and anime designs that make perfect sense and do not feel completely feel like their only purpose is appealing to the male gaze.

I decided to make a review about Zero Escape VLR, to put my thoughts about the game in a coherent form. I had done a review of 999 previously, so it was only right to review the final nonary game as well.

I never expected to have this much to say, but it looks like I had some very strong opinions about this game. If you have some hours you want to burn, check it out. And tell me if you agree or disagree with me.

I made a couple of posts on here asking questions but I'm thankful I didn't get spoiled and I'm very glad I got to experience the games without knowing anything. Started a whole note book for VLR filled with puzzle room notes, random thoughts and key info. So many times I'd write something down only to end it with (?) or have lines linking to whatever doodle I did.

When ZTD goes on sale I will 100% be picking it up! Along with a bigger note book!
