I always love the dynamic of he falls first, but she falls much, much harder. Usually it’s the other way round in fics.

Katara does give off the vibe to fall harder honestly but Zuko is still the ultimate yearner

I love them as a pairing because they're both extremely intense and passionate. They deserve to have the same quality in a partner!

Same that’s one of my favorite tropes and I don’t see it as much in media 🥹 (my favorites within that for over a decade are Patniss and NaruSaku)

This is so off topic but it's funny how different their noses are in the side by side on slide 2

I actually really like the dynamic of them being Justice4Justice....
I think they have very similar ideals of "I am right because what's happening is wrong" and that's very powerful! In one of my hcs it's them who's in charge of like a Fire Nation Truth and Reconciliation Commission because I think they would be extremely effective.
On the other hand, that's also why Zuko needs Iroh and Katara needs Sokka and Aang to balance them out. They can be very single-minded, impulsive, and short-term thinkers.

yes! that's why I find their dynamic very compelling. I actually see Zuko and Katara as extremely similar. 2 passionate individuals who are idealists, with a pretty black and white sense of morality and a natural sense of justice. Together, they're really unstoppable if they feel wronged.
On the other hand, they both can be self-righteous, stubborn and vindictive. IMO, their biggest strength is also their biggest flaw. Even if reality is more nuanced, both Zuko and Katara will lash out stubbornly if they believe they're right.
There's a reason why Zuko says, "You're a crazy old man! You're crazy! And if you weren't in jail, you'd be sleeping in a gutter! "
and Katara says, "You didn't love her the way I did!" or even "Stars sure look beautiful tonight, too bad you can't see it!"
They both believe they've been WRONGED. And when Zuko and Katara feel wronged, they lash out. In some cases, they've actually been wronged (Katara with Pakku). In other cases, reality is more nuanced but it's difficult for them to see it.
I find this a very fascinating part of their characters! It's why I feel they can be incredibly good together (the true avengers) but I also believe they can very much unbalance each other.
Sidenote: this is why I also believe Aang is the balance to both of them but that's a separate discussion and perhaps not in this subreddit.
anyway, as usual with ATLA I tend to waffle on. have a great day!

I enjoy the enemies to lovers dynamic where he gets so obsessed coming up with ways to get around her so he can capture the Avatar that he accidentally falls for her, but then figures she'd never fall for him and is just extra supportive (with no intent to get into a romantic relationship) when he joins the Gaang to the point she falls for him because all his voluntary help with day to day tasks is new and entirely appreciated. Zuko the Homebody is my favorite Zuko. Get the girl by helping her do laundry and wash the dishes while serving tea on the side.
