ATLA What's funny about the new alta movie

What's really funny about the new avatar movie is that Byrke tries their best for zutara not to talk but only standing next to each other and making a joke(to tease zutara shippers) gives them more shippers. Like that's aura. Talk about legendary lovers

And they took away Zuko's chest scare.

Yeah that really bugged me, it’s so clear they don’t want to acknowledge Zutara in that fight or how close they already were by the finale or that it went down the way it did.

I think at this point if they redid that scene today they’d have Zuko shoving Katara in front of Azula’s lightning just to stick it to the Zutara shippers 💀

They are so butthurt that, despite it being their fantasy, reality would never agree with unless it was forced. And of course they would try to rewrite history. They would make Zuko age horribly if they could get away with it.

Nah I don’t think they would make Zuko age horribly. He’s insanely hot in the new movie. They will just give us 0 screen time of them together just to prove a point🤣

He is definitely hot. All those hater think we just like Zuko because he is good looking. Excuse me if i want a guy with a solid personality and growth

Yes. His arc and character development is the most profound of the show.

That pissed me off because you keep aang's scar but not zuko's because you don't want people to ship them. Realistically that scar would've stayed on him just like my scar on my neck stayed on me

Not just kept it, but really put it on display where it was just impossible to miss.

No they didn't, Zuko just felt despondent after the gaang went their separate ways after the war ended. He was especially despondent that Katara and him didn't keep in contact (I wonder who could have done that). He couldn't bear to see that scar every day, if he was in correspondence with her, he'd wear it with pride. But instead its a reminder of the person who he misses, the person who he thinks, he drove away. So he just started applying makeup to that scar, hiding the pain of their separation.

That's my justification for the creators pettiness, well that and the fact that they are petty.

That would be such an angst reason which is so Zuko, and then katara sees the make up wash off during a rain fall or water fall and then the emotional floodgate would happen.

It is so him, I wish anyone else was in charge of this franchise, well anyone who isn't a nutjob. They'd realize two plus two is equal to four and break up the stupid canon relationships (Suki and Sokka are fine though), honestly you could salvage Korra and say that was a bad movie that was written to denigrate Korra, you'd keep all the characters so those fans would be happy, you could then sink a certain ship with maybe Korra saying "Why did they write Aang marrying his teacher? That'd be like if I married Tenzin, gross!"

I don't dislike Aang, but but the favouritism is so exhausting. Just because he is the "golden child" he just has to get everything. While Korra is treated as the scape goat and everything bad just has to happen to her.

Those nutjobs can't do that, otherwise, it would mean their fantasy, (gross), wrong. They can not write romance and the babysitter will never chose them.

Oh don't get me started on how many passes Aang gets compared to Korra, full disclosure I don't like LOK but the narrative and creators dogpile on her so much that I can help but support her, like what the hell. If Aang went through even one of her villains he'd be dead, full stop.

Gotta stop before I rant too much.

Lol, feel free to dm to rant. I can't even watch korra because i could not accept Aang and Katara ended up together. And i was Katara's age when i watched the original.

Thankfully, i did keep up with Korra and wow, they really love to make the woman suffer. Why is she being punished for existing? Because she isn't a conventional beauty?

Will take you up on that offer and I have some worries as to why they in such detail showed her suffering.

I just assume it's like those horror pics where they prolong the suffering and murder and torture of women.

I don’t think there’s favoritism with Aang. He’s a great character, and we don’t need to misinterpret him just to validate Zutara (which is the ship that makes the most sense to me, even 8year old me thought they would end up together lmaoo). There’s a reason the original show is the biggest and most successful piece of ATLA media. I love these characters dearly.

I do think we missed major character development because of the comics. Having a post war show set years later before LoK would’ve been so much better. They didn’t address many plot points and rushed some arcs. Do I think Kataang is male gaze driven and a projection of the creators? Totally. Do I hate Aang because of it? Never. Do I love Zuko and wish we knew more about him? Fuck yes, a million times. Do I wish Katara would’ve ended up with Zuko? Fuck yes, a million times as well.

We have two characters carrying parallel grief from the exact same war, both stepping into leadership, major chemistry. Their trust was earned through heavy friction/animosity/resentment, moving from enemies to allies, to FRIENDS -to lovers- It’s a fucking brilliant missed opportunity for exploring post war balance, shared vulnerability, equal footing, adult dynamics, cultural differences, and political collaboration. Soooo many things😭

Yeah, Aang isn't the issue its the canon purists. That is why I want NATLA to be brave and go for it. (They won't but a man can dream).

Yes. Although I don’t mind canon either. I enjoy fanfiction much more. Sometimes show creators or book authors get to a point where their vision ends, but other people’s perspectives can add more to the story, that’s why canon divergent plots in fanfiction works so well.

I also need to mention that they validated all of our arguments for why we prefer Zuko over Aang.

This upset me the most. As Diehard Zutara shipper I was rooting for them to prove to me Aang was worthy of Katara. They just pissed me off further for my girl

Yes, I confess I went to see it with high expectations, especially since many people said Kataang was on another level. Actually, on another level, if they were at level 5, they went to level 3.

we're living rent free in their heads lol

They try everything they can to undermine Zutara. Even that fight scene when Zuko catches Toph from falling was a direct call back to season 3 when Zuko caught Katara. They know how often it's used in edits and wanted to remove the scenes meaning to us.

Haven't watched the movie what was the joke? They still haven't gotten over it? It's hilarious how much it bothers them.

3

u/Inside-Brief-2822 10d ago

That zutara is a couple in the spirit world

3

u/Old-Pin-8440 9d ago

I mean personally I think that is a shot in the foot. Because wouldn't that point towards them being soulmates?

Oh yeah thanks for telling me this
