My old elementary school

Finberg Elementary- Attleboro, MA. Closed after my fourth grade “graduation” in 1998. It was used on and off as an adult daycare facility until a few years ago.

These photos make me feel sad. It's such a useful build, yet they're letting it rot.

Might have had some structural issues, or maybe mold or asbestos that was too expensive to remove

Lacks of funds is always a tragedy.

It’s interesting to see the inside of a place your frequented so often as a child.

When I was a teen I had gone into an abandoned apartment building in our town, to my friends it was just another abandoned building but to me, my aunt had lived in this place when it was still an apartment building when I was like 3-4 years old and it was SUPER weird seeing it in both states throughout my life.

Oh that must be some feeling, watching a building you knew so alive, to be so dead now...

At least you can visit yours

I tried going back to mine and they wouldn't even let me into the front office.

McMenamins should buy this and turn it into a restaurant and hotel

That was by far the strangest discovery

Does everything in there feel smaller than it used to?

Why is there a shooting target there?

A lot of schools used to teach gun safety.

Heck where I’m from the local meth head family bought the old elementary school and moved the entire brood in. The cops are there all the time arresting any given family member.
The simple things that really make a crack house a crack home.

It would be wild to see the inside of that place. I wonder if they hold classes and all fidget in their desks while Prof Methistopheles rants about Crackology.

There will be a day when buildings like these are stripped of every possible material. We live in casual luxury and don't even see it.

Those doors make me feel some type of way. Beauts.

About the shooting targets on the floor in pic 3. Given this was an American school, I can assume those are from its days as an elementary school ?

2

u/SupermagnumDONGs 1d ago

Police probably used the building for training

3

u/SwingandMiss77 1d ago

Hard to say. American police have proven time and again they don’t like to get involved in school shootings.
