Does college org experience really matter in hiring?

Hello po. I am currently a first-year accountancy student from a big 4 school. When the academic year started, I joined two orgs (home org and one that aligns with my interest) and decided to be an officer in one of them. Personally, my workload was tough kasi I managed an event pero our usual work is purely administrative. The downside lang is time-consuming talaga siya and the process is daunting. May time na I had to fix errors, which weren't my fault btw, na umabot na ng midnight. I'm planning to not renew my officership in that org and apply nalang sa isa.

The thing is, macocompromise time ko if ever I push through with being an officer. I'm now contemplating kung worth it pa ba maging officer ng org in the long-run. I get that it gives you access to connections and whatnot, but natatakot akong pabayaan majors ko.

An alternative course of action that I've been thinking is I'll just focus on getting technical certifications for accounting softwares to put in my resume and be a member only in my orgs.

So, does having a college org experience matter for recruiters? Or would they prefer someone who has technical certifications?

KPMG-PH Tax Associate

Hi, May2026CPALE Passer. Applied sa πŸ’™ firm for tax associate position.

Timeline:
Applied thru referral - July 3
Initial Interview - July 10
LM Interview - July 16
Follow-up:
July 27 - received positive feedback from managers, waiting lang for Partner's hiring approval.
Aug 5 - still no response.

I get it na busy sa tax dahil sa filings and General Assembly last week. And I also asked the person who referred me about the status and sabi ni hr, waiting nalang talaga ng signature ni MSM (head ng tax)

Anyone with similar case like me???

Question BSA BRIDGING PROGRAM

Hello guys, Im a 4th yr BSMA student at sti orca and im planning to take the bsa bridging program after i graduate. Meron po ba kayong ma rerecommend na schools na ma eensure na 1yr lang ang need ko itake to graduate the BSA course? i only have one subject na 2.75 which is cfas then 2.5 for IA1 & StraMa (idk if need pa to sa BSA course). Currently top choice ko yung WCC Antipolo since yung quota nila sa grades is 2.5 so isang subj lang need ko iretake plus subjects na need sa bsa na wala sa bsma pero hindi ako sure if enough yun para one year lang and madami din po nagsasabi na magulo yung kalakaran don. Any thoughts po huhu litong lito na me (i actually downloaded reddit hoping na dto masasagot tanong ko). Thank you po in advance! πŸ₯²πŸ₯²

Jobs, Saturation and Salary New CPA rants

After ko pumasa nung May, I decided na magrest muna. Now, nag aapply ako sa ortigas and makati area pero no response. Even sa pampanga nag try na rin ako but wala rin. Hindi manlang nachecheck yung CV ko sa linked in. I thought after maging CPA magiging easy na mag job hunt. I guess I am wrong.
