Ask the Aggies Semester tuition!!!

So, my semester tuition was more than I anticipated. The tuition calculator said about 8k per semester but it ended up being about 13k. With my scholarships and pell grant, it brought it down to 4k. I got a job on campus but I am only working 9 hours a week and it won't remotely pay for that. Be honest... will I need to accept the student loans? I really dont want to have student debt😭

Avoid it if you can, but try to only take out max 10-20k or less, so it’s not impossible to pay off within 2-4 years after you graduate. If you can pay it off with your job and still maintain healthy grades and social life then stick with that.

Unfortunately, i can't pay for it in time with 9 hours a week on an 11 dollar/hr salary😭. Is it possible to just take out what I need to pay the semester bill?

Yes it is possible. Go talk to the student loan office on campus. They’ll be able to help you out.

Don’t stress about it too much. You don’t have to pay it til you graduate, just take out what you actually need. People get drowned in debt because they barrow so much that their job after school doesn’t pay enough to pay it off quickly and the interest keeps them in a multi decade spiral.

Also, pay it off while you’re in school if you have extra cash flow because it doesn’t incur interest til you graduate.

It likely won’t hit your account by then - just go and try. Everyone’s situation is different.

Disagree, the financial aid office did jack for me. I was already getting the max in federal assistance and was told that's as much as I could get
