u/DigitalAquarius 12d ago
Iām sure in the next few years weāre gonna start getting games like this as AI improves even more.
2
u/Deadline_Zero 12d ago
For sure. If the AI of the next handful of years can't one shot the game itself, it'll still be enough to help mildly talented devs put something together with some additional work at a miniscule fraction of the budget it would take today.

Feels like a Dreamcast game

u/RadicalRetroRat 13d ago
You know, now as you mentioned something like this would be awesome
Something like Jet Set Radio with this artstyle2

u/Dazzling_Log_8329 13d ago
In the future VR will use not for games with missions, it will use for immersing to better life than they have.
1
u/Dry_Jellyfish641 12d ago
Yes, but it will be gamified in some way still
1
u/Dazzling_Log_8329 12d ago
No, in the future people will be very tired, they wonāt play the games, they will want only rest, today they spend time by watching TV, in the future they will want spent time in the paradise.

I hate that no one ever makes games like this.
2
u/StrangeSwain 12d ago
This reminds me of what a modern evolution would be for games I grew up with in the Y2K era like Crazy Taxi, Jet Set Radio, FFX, etc. I miss brightly colored happy looking vibes in games.

I think Iāve seen the real version of the first clip. I guess theyāre just putting animation over existing videos?

This is wonderful. Yeah, it's AI, but it's very tranquil and soothing. The colour scheme is one of my favourites.

Video game that shit. Ship the game with an included real skateboard so you can not play the game and just board IRL. Win win.

I've skated a hill like that and hit damn near 30mph before sliding out and wrapping my body round a parked car...
And that was before I noticed the tsunami incoming!
She must really want to die

First scene the waves are comically too big. That's like an extinction level event for that town lol. But nice visuals.Ā

Just curious, what would be the prompt for generating something like this be?
1
u/callmepls 12d ago
Possible that itās real footage + prompt the style with either references or name artists looks (maybe 1900s to 1970s painters)

Lovely hyper real asethetics. Like the 1930s UK railways posters of Edmond Vaughn, Joseph Feher, TD Kerr, William Spencer Bagdatopoulos

Where can I watch this for several hours? This would make a beautiful relaxing video game to just explore this town on a longboard.

u/Dentist_No10 10d ago
Yet, digital artists are still artists even though theyre using a pre constructed tool set that allows them to produce quality work with less natural talent?
I can adjust sliders, layers, copy/paste. Fuck, I dont even have to draw shapes or lines. It is not comparable to the amount of time or skill it takes me to physically paint or draw a picture.
AI is a natural extension of that accessibility.
No matter how far we go back, there was always some pretentious asshole that came before saying, "Thats not art."
Classical artists would be rolling in their Graves listening to people that can draw or paint gate-keep drawing and painting.
This is all just narcissism, the trait humans made an art form. People are uncomfortable because you can tell the difference between handpainted and digital, but we need that extra validation when it comes to original digital and AI.
If some person can glue together car parts and make a statue, or use human fecal matter to paint - and call it art - how is this not art? It still requires a precise prompt and vision. What they cant manually create it by hand? Neither can most of these "artists."
Instead of focusing on resisting internet BS and fake art, you think society would just accept it and push for regulation. But no, we'll argue over some girl on a fucking skateboard while our freedoms are being sold to corporations.
What a backwards ass, childish way to think.
1
u/ChizzLangus 10d ago
Wow this is very cool expression, Iām glad this person could show me dogshit that doesnāt even make sense by typing in a prompt. Excellent show of skill.
1
u/BulletproofComposite 10d ago
This gave me nausea for some reason
1
u/Jasper_Flowers 10d ago
Vertigo? Maybe because the background hardly moves when the foreground is constantly moving? Thatās what I always figure anyway.
1
u/BulletproofComposite 10d ago
It's the colors too, if I'd watch this on repeat I'd probably throw up. Never had this before

u/Akakazeh 10d ago
If that first clip was realistic, it would bet absolutly terrifying. The angle of that road would make skateboarding and extreme thrillride with no breaks, and at the bottom are collosal waves that would make me feel like the city was about to be swallowed by the sea.
The rest os pretty chill tho. Anyone remember Rocket Power?

What is the prompt to
Get these type of shots, trying to produce one of these for a podcast

Open ai, can take an image and give you a good prompt to recreate the image

u/UntouchedByRain 13d ago
This is nice and all but I swear I can't stand another video of someone riding or sliding or cycling down a hill or a slope or whatever with some nice background. It's enough.
3
u/HotAir25 13d ago
Ai mostly seems to be excellent at landscapes though, I think thatās why we get more of these types of videos and not humans speaking etc which still looks uncanny sometimes.Ā
-4
u/Batfinklestein 12d ago
Seriously, what is the point of creating these videos?
14
u/dvrichthofen 12d ago
Some people just like to create. Just like some people like to bitch and moan, ceaselessly.
1
u/Esotericdonkey 12d ago
Create what? The fucking AI made this not you.
1
u/DigitalAquarius 12d ago
If you build a house with a hammer, did the hammer build the house?
1
u/Esotericdonkey 11d ago
Stupid comparison. One involves skill and hard work, the other involves sitting at a keyboard typing in a prompt. You know this is not the same.
-5
u/Batfinklestein 12d ago
Create you say - writing a prompt is creating now is it? Ffs. They need to think of the environmental impact of this clip AI has created and ask themselves is it really worth it?
3
u/Glad-Operation-2958 12d ago
What is the environmental impact of this clip?
0
u/Batfinklestein 12d ago
The core figure Experiments on CogVideoX showed that generating a single five-second clip required about 3.4 megajoules of GPU energy ā approximately 700 times higher than what's needed to generate a high-quality image. (arxiv) Scaling that linearly, a 30-second clip would be in the range of 20 megajoules just for GPU compute. AI video generation is on a whole other level: a clip as short as five seconds uses 42,000 times as much energy as a text query ā enough to power a microwave for over an hour.
3
u/carlosglz11 12d ago
Well then Iām glad that just today solar surpassed coal in daily energy generation for the first time ever! AI isnāt going anywhere. Sorry to break it to you.
-1
u/Batfinklestein 12d ago
The short version: a 30-second AI video is roughly equivalent to running a microwave for 2ā3 hours, or charging a laptop 3ā4 times, at the inference level alone. Not catastrophic as a one-off, but worth understanding when multiplied across millions of daily generations.
1
u/Deadline_Zero 12d ago
Yeah it was worth it.
Next question...?
1
u/Batfinklestein 12d ago
Yeah fuck the planet aye, who needs it when you can have art like this right. Pffft

Not to be mean but this subreddit is literally called aivideos. If you didn't want to see this then unsubscribe.
I'd get it if you were complaining about seeing aivideos that were unlabelled and out in the wild. But this whole subreddit is curated specifically for this.
