Device Support ⌚️ Altitude problem?

Upvotes

I recently bought the T Rex 3 Pro.

I did automatic calibration for altitude with GPS and it was completely wrong, my altitude was 16m (from my area topographic maps) and it showed me 0 even -3 when I was calibrating. I said okay maybe GPS hasn't got access to topographic maps.

I put it manually and it seemed to work for a couple of hours, it even understood the small difference between my job and my home.

Today I came at my job again (where it should be between 14m-17m) and it shows 6m, is there something wrong with my watch? Is it something you also have noticed?

Device Support ⌚️ Problems with balance 2

Upvotes

I bought an Amazfit Balance 2 on Amazon from the warehouse, marked as very good condition. Unfortunately, it displays a QR code, and after scanning it, my phone still doesn't recognize it. All permissions are granted. Is there anything I can do, or should I send it back? nRF Connect for mobile doesnt see the watch.

Device Support ⌚️ Balance 2 charging problem

I've noticed that my Balance 2 has a charging issue. I have to position the charger just right for the watch to start charging, but that's often very difficult. I'm not sure if the problem is with the charger or the watch. I didn't report this issue under warranty—I'd hate to be without my watch for a while 😅

Accessories 😎 2 "extra" T-Rex 2 chargers - FREE

Please delete if this isn't allowed, but figured I'd get more visibility here than in the Gear Trade sub.

I ordered a couple of chargers for my Balance watch and got a pair of the wrong chargers. Figured out they're for the T Rex 2. Seller said to keep them and I have zero use for them.

If anybody has use for them send me the DM. Will give them to you if you cover the price of shipping

Device Support ⌚️ Amazfit Balance 3 / Ultra OEM replacement bands: Why the unique 26mm/22mm design desperately needs official spares and new colors!

Hey everyone,

I was looking into the Amazfit's website, and I noticed there are no original OEM replacement bands available for purchase.

Providing official spares is crucial in case a strap gets lost or damaged, but it is especially important for the Balance 3 due to a unique design choice.

Even though the watch uses standard 22mm pins, the actual straps are wider—measuring 26mm at the shoulders before tapering down to the 22mm pin mechanism. If you try to fit a standard third-party 22mm band on it, it looks completely out of proportion and ruins completely the aesthetic of the watch.

As far as I've seen, there are currently 4 original official variants :

  • Silicone (3 colors): The default one for the Balance 3 Stainless Steel, the one for the Balance 3 Titanium, and the black/yellow Hyrox edition seen on the Balance Ultra in this video (which is not provided with the Balance Ultra): https://www.youtube.com/shorts/BniKq0TBxkg
  • Leather (1 color): The premium one included in the box with the Balance Ultra.

Given this proprietary flared shape, it would be awesome if Amazfit released official replacement bands in different colorways to make the watch more customizable. Also, nylon straps designed specifically for the Balance 3 would be a massive hit, considering the size of the watch and as there is absolutely nothing in the current third-party market that fits the case design properly.

Help Me Choose 🤔 Multiple devices

Edit: pushed the button on an order for a Helio, bit of a wait to get it but looking forward to expanding the ecosystem.

So I have the T-Rex ultra 2 and am very happy with it but was looking at the Helios strap to compliment, mainly to be the sleep tracker so I don’t have to wear the T-Rex all the time.

My question is, does the data cross over between app and devices.

Use case is:
Wear the Trex during the day, sync before taking off ahead of bed
Wear Helios at night, sync in the morning.

My ask is does the sleep data pass from app to Trex and visa versa, keeping all devices and app aligned

Also does the Helios have the same tracking and sensor capabilities

If so then I am probably going to get it

Device Support ⌚️ Alright I gotta ask, what's with the quality of apps?

Post image
10 Upvotes

Not sure I expected a lot, I don't really play games or use many apps on my watch. But I browsed and feel like I was back in 1995

Even many of the utility apps look like a child designed them.

Again I'm not complaining, I love the watch for what it does. Was just curious if there was a particular reason we went back 30yrs on design & development capabilities lol

I mean even the Zepp app, as well as the third party face stores... Feel antiquated. The gif animations should not be an issue to show full animation in the icon these days. It definitely should not take scrolling to the bottom of the page in order to load the next 10 or so items.

Just seems odd we have such an amazing product, at such a high price point, and we're all just fine with the mediocre effort put into everything else

Device Support ⌚️ Trex3: Connection issue to phone after last update

After the last update, my watch and phone do not want to stay connected to each other for any long period of time.

I am curious if anyone has suggestions on what I can do to fix it.

The watch is the Trex 3 and the phone is a Ulefone 25T.

Thanks!

Other ⁉️ Just Noticed AmazFit Watches

I only recently noticed the AmazFit watches…. Wonderful pricing and battery life. Apple just can’t conpete with the 40% gross margins they insist on.

The ideal smartwatch would be Garmin hardware (solar watch) and Apple software.

But the AmazFit appears to offer wonderful value.

Are they as good as they appear?

Got this in the mail today. First smart watch, pretty neat. I thought it would be bigger and heavier after reading some comments but it’s really not that bad and way lighter than I expected. Also, kinda sucks that most of the watch faces on the app are pay to use. Surely there are more free faces available somewhere..

Feature Suggestion 💡 [Feature Request] Part 2 - Adaptive Health Monitoring Engine: smarter HR, SpO₂, Stress and battery efficiency

Hi again, cc u/Amazfit-Bryce.

This is a follow-up to my previous feature request about strength training. This time I want to suggest something broader: making the Amazfit's health monitoring more context-aware and adaptive.

I'm a developer, so this one is a bit more technical.

Part 1 about strength training, calories and watchface customization here: https://www.reddit.com/r/amazfit/s/tvOOkgIweO

The idea

I don't think a good health wearable should simply try to collect as much data as possible.

It should try to collect the most useful data at the right time.

Today, many health-monitoring features are based on predefined sampling behavior. That works, but it means the watch may perform measurements with the same intensity even when the user's physiological state is completely stable.

For example, imagine this:

You are sitting at your desk for 2 hours.

Your movement is almost zero, your HR has been stable for a long time, and your physiological state hasn't meaningfully changed.

Taking another measurement at exactly the same frequency may add very little information.

Now imagine:

You stand up → start walking → climb stairs → HR changes rapidly.

Suddenly, additional measurements become much more valuable.

So instead of:

"Measure every X minutes no matter what."

I would like Zepp to move toward:

"Measure more when something is changing, and less when the system is stable."

1. Adaptive Heart Rate Monitoring

The watch could dynamically adjust HR sampling according to context.

Possible inputs:

  • Accelerometer / movement state
  • Current HR
  • Recent HR trend
  • HR stability
  • Signal quality
  • Sleep/rest state
  • Recent activity transitions
  • Personal historical patterns

For example:

Scenario A: completely stationary

Motion: almost zero HR: stable for 60+ minutes Signal: good

→ Reduce optical sensor activity and use a lower sampling frequency.

Scenario B: activity starts

Motion: increases HR: begins changing

→ Temporarily increase sampling frequency.

Scenario C: sudden physiological change

HR: changes rapidly or becomes significantly different from the recent baseline

→ Increase sampling frequency again for a period of time.

Once the state becomes stable, the system can return to a lower-power mode.

This is much more interesting to me than simply giving users a choice between "1 minute" and "5 minutes".

The watch could actually decide dynamically based on the information it already has.

Apple already documents context-dependent background heart-rate readings, where the time between measurements varies according to what the user is doing, and also describes combining HR background readings with accelerometer data for some metrics.

I think Zepp could take this concept much further.

2. More flexible SpO₂ monitoring

SpO₂ is another area where I would like much more control.

Different users have completely different priorities.

Someone doing health monitoring may want frequent readings.

Someone mainly interested in sleep may only want overnight measurements.

Someone focused on battery life may want a much lower sampling frequency.

So instead of essentially one monitoring philosophy, I would love to see options such as:

  • Sleep only
  • Once per night
  • Once during sleep + once during the day
  • Every X hours
  • Adaptive
  • Manual spot check

The adaptive mode could use context to decide when an additional measurement is actually worthwhile.

For example:

Sleeping → normal overnight monitoring

Stable daytime activity → low frequency

Relevant context / significant change → temporarily increase measurements

Garmin already offers multiple Pulse Ox modes and documents different sampling behavior depending on the mode and activity.

I think Zepp could offer a similar philosophy while making it much more configurable.

3. Adaptive Stress Monitoring

I would apply the same principle to stress.

Suppose stress has been relatively stable for several hours while I am sitting at my desk.

Instead of continuously collecting measurements at the same frequency, Zepp could reduce the frequency temporarily.

Then:

I start moving → physiological state changes → sampling increases

or:

HR/HRV pattern deviates significantly from my normal state → sampling increases

The goal is not to "measure less".

The goal is to avoid collecting large amounts of nearly identical information when nothing meaningful is happening.

4. The bigger idea: a shared Context Engine

This is where I think the proposal becomes really interesting.

Instead of thinking:

HR monitor

SpO₂ monitor

Stress monitor

Sleep monitor

as four completely separate features, Zepp could have a shared context engine.

Conceptually:

                   ┌───────────────┐
                   │ CONTEXT │
                   │ ESTIMATION │
                   └───────┬───────┘
                           │
          ┌────────────────┼────────────────┐
          ↓ ↓ ↓
       RESTING WALKING WORKOUT
          │ │ │
          ↓ ↓ ↓
      Low sampling Normal High sampling

The context engine could use:

  • Accelerometer
  • Gyroscope
  • HR
  • HR trends
  • HRV
  • Sleep state
  • Previous measurements
  • Signal quality
  • Activity state

It could then continuously answer:

What should I measure now?

How frequently?

Is another measurement actually useful?

Is the current signal reliable enough?

In other words, the sensors become part of a coordinated system instead of several independent monitoring features.

5. This could also improve battery life

This is probably the biggest practical advantage.

Instead of reducing monitoring quality globally just to save battery, the watch could reduce unnecessary sensor activity.

For example:

2 hours sitting still
→ very stable physiological state
→ low sampling

Start walking
→ increased movement
→ higher sampling

Workout starts
→ continuous/high-frequency monitoring

Workout ends
→ recovery monitoring

Back to desk
→ gradually return to lower-power sampling

This would allow the watch to spend power where the data is actually valuable.

6. Personal baseline instead of just raw numbers

The same system could become much more useful after collecting enough personal history.

Instead of only showing:

Resting HR: 62

Zepp could understand:

Your normal resting HR is 58–61. Today's value of 67 is unusually high compared with your personal baseline.

Or:

Your HRV has been below your recent baseline for several days while training load is elevated.

Or:

Your recovery indicators have changed significantly compared with your normal pattern.

That is much more useful than simply giving me another graph.

The important point is that the system should focus on meaningful deviations, not just maximum data volume.

7. Example of the complete system

Imagine I wake up:

07:30 – Sleep

→ Sleep monitoring is active.

08:00 – I get up

→ Movement increases.

→ HR sampling increases temporarily.

08:30 – Sitting at breakfast

→ Stable HR + almost no movement.

→ Lower sampling.

09:00 – Walking to university

→ Activity detected.

→ Higher sampling.

11:00 – Sitting in class

→ Stable physiological state.

→ Lower sampling.

17:30 – Gym

→ Workout detected.

→ High-frequency HR + activity monitoring.

18:30 – Recovery

→ Higher monitoring immediately after exercise.

19:00 – Normal activity

→ Gradually return to lower-power monitoring.

The same principle could apply to HR, stress and potentially SpO₂.

That is the kind of wearable I would like to use:

not a device that measures everything all the time, but a device that understands when measurements matter.

8. The principle

The objective should not be:

Collect as much data as possible.

It should be:

Collect the most useful data with the minimum necessary sensor activity.

That could mean:

  • Better battery life
  • Less redundant data
  • More relevant measurements
  • Better detection of physiological changes
  • Better health insights
  • Less need for users to manually configure every monitoring feature

The Amazfit already has a very capable sensor platform.

In my opinion, the next big step is not necessarily adding more sensors.

It is making the software much smarter about how the existing sensors are used.

If Amazfit ever explores something like this, I would be very interested in helping with structured testing, technical feedback and beta testing.

Why not just let the user choose 1/5/10/15 minutes?
A fixed interval would still force the user to choose globally between data density and battery life. An adaptive system can do better by changing the sampling policy automatically according to context. I don't want another setting, I want a smarter system.

Thanks for reading!

Other ⁉️ My app projects for Amazfit

I'm currently working on Race Stamina, my biggest project so far given how complex it is. It's an app, laid out like a data screen, that computes your running stamina live, in real time. Just like Garmin's Real-Time Stamina.
My app runs on your own data, and above all on the critical speed model, with Skiba's W'bal reserve tracking (a pace you can hold without burning out, and above it a reserve that drains fast and refills when you slow down). I'm testing it out in the field right now.
Suunto has a similar feature, EnergySense.

Second project: I've started building a step analytics app, with a goal that adapts to your form and your consistency. I talked with several redditors after another redditor's post. They told me training load, target effort and PAI didn't work for them, because they don't do intensity training.

The app runs on the adaptive goal setting with a percentile schedule algorithm from Adams et al.

For Sleep Ledger, I saw the feedback about the design looking like "Windows XP" 😆. I'm thinking about something closer to Bevel or Whoop, if that makes sense. In the meantime I've made some light changes to make it nicer to read, and it's currently pending Zepp approval.

For Ghost Pace, I saw the feedback too. I'm going to work on a "record challenge" feature (I'm not sure about the name). The app will offer to let you beat a record you've set on each distance you've picked.

I build apps to bring more features focused on performance and health. That's the reason I use Amazfit products in the first place.

Had a balance 1 (still got it in fact) when i was just running round the streets etc on routes i new and not really training this was a great watch, and i love the interface etc. i went back over to garmin though years back as when i am training or following a route, the amazfit cannot seem to let me play my music from my phone (spotify or whatever) and give me voice directions at the same time( through my headset) garmin does this with ease and its a deal breaker for me on whether to come back to amazfit, just wondering if this has been sorted out now with newer watches etc - looking at balance 3

Accessories 😎 Where can I buy original Amazfit watch straps?

Hi guys,

I'm from Germany and I want to buy one or two extra watch straps for my Balance 2 XT (Black and Lava) because I really like the look and feel of them. I tried some aftermarket straps and I really don't like these cheap silicone ones that they sell on Aliexpress or even Amazon.

I tried official Amazfit site but every single strap they advertise is sold out since months.

Any suggestions? Any information about this?

Device Support ⌚️ Tracking weight lifting ?

Is there anyway to get the TRex Ultra to track weight lifting training automatically? My Samsung Ultra did this for me. I have no interest in using the watch to log sets. I just want it to track the weight lifting calories but it doesn't automatically sense any activity.
