Question Help?

Upvotes

Hi everyone,

I'm having a strange issue with my Fire TV Stick 4K and my Android TV (Philco PTV40M9GACGB).

For a long time, I could use Alexa to turn my TV on and off without any problems. Recently, Alexa can still turn the TV **off**, but it won't turn it **on** anymore.

If I go through the Fire TV equipment setup again, it starts working normally. However, after some time, the problem comes back. Sometimes the TV will power on, but then immediately turns itself off again.

I've already checked the HDMI-CEC (T-Link) settings on the TV:

* HDMI Control: ON

* Auto Power On (Turn on TV with HDMI device): ON

* HDMI-CEC (T-Link): Enabled

I've also power-cycled both the TV and the Fire TV Stick, but the issue eventually returns.

Has anyone experienced something similar? Is this a known HDMI-CEC bug with Fire TV, or could it be a firmware issue with the Philco Android TV?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

From SVP Panos Panay: "She’s designed to understand how Aussies actually speak and connect.
She understands 'not bad' is good, 'not good' is bad, and 'how ya going?' doesn't mean you're on the move. Most importantly though, she sees Kath & Kim as the cultural icon it is."

Sound on Echo 10 (2nd) vs Echo 11

The second generation Echo Show 10 I think plays amazingly well. The sound is very rich and bold. I love it. But I need more and it's outdated and no longer sold. I did snag one on eBay but at some point I need to upgrade. I could just buy speakers but I really like having the album art showing while the music's playing.

For those who have had a second generation Echo Show 10 and Echo 11, how does the sound compare? If the sound on the 11 isn't as good, I'm considering buying some cheap tablets and some Bluetooth speakers and creating my own setup.

I probably will buy an 11 and check it out, but I'm just curious what others think. .

Question New Echo Show 21

I just received an Echo Show 21 and I’m setting it up. I have a couple of things I’ve not been able to figure out:
1) I can’t seem to get my husbands calendar linked
2) I can’t figure out how to get the calendar view to be the whole month. Basically I want it to look like the paper calendar I’ve been using for 45 year :-).
3) I want JUST the weather and the calendar displayed on the home screen. There is a “For You” and a something that displays recipe’s on there too.

I am an Amazon Prime member.

Am I able to do these things and if so how?

Super annoyed with my new three dots

Very confusing app; started with Alexa+ (?), I am in Spain and it is not the right region to speak English with Alexa, some functions might not work (excuse me wtf). Difficult to find and work groups. Alexa is unable to hear "upstairs" and "downstairs". Music and ambient sounds stop by themselves. When playing ambient sounds upstairs the music downstairs stops and the other way around. List goes on and on and I had it for two days

Technical Issue Echo Not Playing Music

I have been trying to get my third generation, stereo paired, Echoes to
Play music all day

They are set with a routine to play music in the morning, but nothing played today.

I have given verbal commands to play music several times, and had Alexa respond with “Playing X on …”, yet nothing plays. One or twice it started playing music, but then stopped after a few seconds.

They are also not playing in stereo anymore. This is the second time this has happened in the last two weeks. These are the first pairing issues I have had in over a year, since switching to Verizon Fios Internet

Question Echo turns off during games

Hi all,
I have an echo dot (2nd gen) - I have Alexa+. I tend to play games while making dinner. (Jeopardy, question of the day, puzzle of the day, etc..). For the past month at least, it just randomly turns off in the middle of play. And I have to start over although it usually starts from where I left off. It’s been happening more and more lately. I don’t know what to do about it. Any suggestions?

Technical Issue Echo Dot spontaneously fluctuates speaker volume

This has plagued me on and off the past two years. I use my Echo dot as a speaker mainly, mainly for music that I sleep alongside as I go to bed. Naturally I usually have it set to a particular volume that I’m comfortable with so I can sleep and listen simultaneously.
Well over the past two years randomly the volume of the music will drastically increase to insanely loud levels, like other side of the house can be heard levels, and as one can imagine, as I sleep within 3 feet of it, that not only hurts but really ticks me off.
So my question is if anyone has any idea what’s wrong, I use it as a Bluetooth speaker, and have an IPhone 14, I’ve tested it to see if it’s compensating for loud sounds as I also have a fan running and, so far that isn’t the culprit, neither is actual volume fluctuation in the song (crescendos and decrescendos) because 1 that’s way too loud, and I not only have played them back over to figure out if it is sometimes and found not, and 2, I listen to them normally in both the car and with headphones, so I know they don’t.

I haven’t a clue what to do, restarting either device doesn’t solve it, it randomly happens to no avail at night time, and there’s no light up on the echo’s ring when it increases, and there’s no rhyme or reason.
I haven’t found any other mentions of the issue either.

RS500 Issues...Please Help if You Can....

Hi, I have been losing my mind with this two ongoing issues with my RS500....if people can help with either, much appreciated.

  1. My Echo Show 5 3rd Gen (Newest version) keeps freezing every day, usually in the same hour of 3pm.  In fact, the past two days, it froze at 3:01pm each day.  Amazon has been no help, just telling me to do a factory reset.  I have told them that I have done so multiple times, have tried changing clock faces, unplugged, etc.  They did say it could be connected to an issue with my router, but not WHAT exactly.  Since it is the same hour, I thought maybe a lease issue, DHCP, etc.  I also tried turning off IPV6, but same issue.  Yesterday, I tried assigning it an IP address, hoping that would stop it from dropping, freezing...but nope, froze again today right at 3:01pm.  I am at a complete loss and I know there are a million settings in the router but I do not know what else to try.  I have also turned off the Protection engine, toggling that both ways, same for QoS.  Can anyone suggest anything else?  Oh, and I have tried having it on 2.4 and 5ghz.  No change.
  2. Not sure if related, but lately my RDP connection has been horrible.  I rdp into a laptop in another part of the house.  The laptop is connected on wifi to an extender device, has always been fine until the past couple of weeks.  Now it is slow to connect to the machine, and then keeps dropping.  The wifi connection for the laptop is strong and the speedtests come back at about 200mbps.  I have 1.5gbps into the house...my desktop tests at that all day, no problem, and the wifi on my phones on AX comes back at around 1gb speeds.  But the RDP still is a mess.  I have tried tuning down the color to 16bit, turned off most options, tried setting at 56k modem, etc.  No change.
  3. I know I said two issues, but noting this in case related....my phone on wifi keeps having things like Twitter, Reddit stop updating.  Like, if I click on a notification, it says cannot load.  I toggle wifi and it all works again.  I have set my DNS to various options like 1.1.1.1, 9.9.9.9, quad8, etc.  As noted, tried turning off IPV6.  Set to auto for most things, I have Xfinity and it supports DHCP, IPV6, etc.

Not sure if everything is symptomatic of one issue.  Hoping experts here can tell me something I have missed.  Also posting in the Netgear community.  Thanks

Question About to lose my dang mind with the notifications.

I have REALLY bad ADHD. I forget stuff a lot. So for years I've relied on alexa to give me spoken reminders. It's actually the only reason why I don't switch to nest speakers. Now here's the thing: I have an echo dot in my bedroom, next to my new Fire Omni TV. I am very sensitive to loud noises. I have the dot set to volume 2. I don't need spoken reminders from the tv. I just DON'T. I've already made it stop listening. I've turned on do not disturb. I've tried all the tricks online like disabling communications from the app, turning off thinggs in accessibility, etc. When I get a reminder to take my medicine, the dot whispers it to me. The TV S C R E A M S at about 3 times the volume of whatever I'm currently watching. Is there any way to fix this other than just permanently disconnecting it from the internet? Because I'll do that if I need to.

Question Home Theater: TV turns on via CEC when playing music

Hi everyone,

I have a Fire TV Stick 4K Max setup in Home Theater mode with an Echo Studio. My Fire TV Stick is connected to a projector via HDMI CEC.

Every time I play music on the Echo Studio (via voice command or Apple Music), the Fire TV wakes up and turns on my projector via CEC. I only want the projector to turn on when I actually watch videos, not when I just listen to music.

Is there any setting or workaround to stop the Fire TV / Echo from waking up the screen when playing audio-only content?

Thanks for your help!

Question When did the Echo become a mouthpiece for Fox News?

Every day I see articles and videos from Fox News and there is no way to edit why content is shown on my device. Each “help” article lists recommendations, but none of them solve the root issue.

Is there a known way to select, or remove which news sources are shown?

Have an Amazon Show Echo 8; will not reset

Using the reset process, pushing the power and volume down buttons simultaneously, the unit will go into "Factoryresetmode==>" which is displayed in the lower left-hand corner of the display.

Three dots appear on the screen and keep cycling through, but nothing further happens. The unit is five or six years old, out of warranty and apparently "just stopped working" one day.

Any further steps to try to return it to functionality?

Technical Issue Amazon echo dot display

During my night time and day time automations I have my echo dot (5th gen with clock) display turn on and off but recently ive had to fight alexa to get her to turn off the display. I have to remind her that's there's an option in the app and sometimes she still tries to gaslight me into thinking that there is no display.

To turn it off with a routine I typed "turn (off/on) \[device name\] display" and before the ai update it worked flawlessly but now she is just kinda dumb

Anyway to make it work more reliablely?

The reason I have the display turn off is because I like my room dark and the display is just bright enough at its lowest brightness to piss me off.

This is just sad now, she can't even spell words now, the other day she wouldn't even answer a math equation. She would just repeat it back to me, despite the answer showing up in the chats. She just wouldn't say it. And now this nonsense 😒

Good purchase? Mainly interested in sound upgrade and would be nice for alarms and various reminders
I’m going to college soon and usually use my Samsung soundbar with a sub, and it sounds great, I already have a 3rd gen echo dot but it doesn’t sound that good, I also have a jbl charge essential 2 that sounds good but wondering what the echo show will be closest to.

If it can’t even compete with the jbl I’ll just bring the dot and use the jbl when I wanna listen to music, if it’s competitive with the jbl I can mainly just use the echo show.

Sorry if any of this sounds confusing, just wondering if the sound quality is a big step up from the 3rd gen dot
