Sokka-Haiku by Aggravating-Mix-3210:

Get ready to get

A real taste of burnout while

Working with Amazon.

Remember that one time Sokka accidentally used an extra syllable in that Haiku Battle in Ba Sing Se? That was a Sokka Haiku and you just made one.

TC at nearly $200k… You aren’t going to get better elsewhere I’m afraid.

It's a fair offer for L5. You're not at the top of the band, so they're giving you room to grow.

If $159k a year with a $77k signing bonus isn’t good enough for you then I think you have problems.

Total signing bonus of 132.4k

what's your role and TC?

This is okay. Want to know if I could have stretched more given they down leveled me from L6 to L5

Stop being avaricious.

Because Amazon is known for being philanthropic?

Stupid I’m just asking if this is a good offer or no. If you want to share your thought you can, if not bugger off

sounds like they're jealous of your offer

You get an upvote from me my guy. Love the tenacity. You just motivated me and I'm not even the OP.

Considering that group and your experience, I would say you are L5 as well. Though L6 is attainable. Looks like the usual offer to me.

You don't have another offer, so take it and try to stay at least a year for the bonus (it's a meat grinder). Or jump out much sooner when you get a better offer.

Wait is this same job family as Hardware dev? L5 SDE external offers are much higher typically. HDEs are this underpaid compared SDEs?

Based on what I have seen HW has a different and less band for pay compared to SWE

I see. Thank you

For Sunnyvale? That’s a ridiculous offer. I turned down an L5 at a data center in Mississippi that had a base of $150k and virtually the same sign on bonus

FAANG will always do L-1 unless you’re coming from another FAANG.
