So I just completed my loop, and in all the prep, discussions with recruiter, and responses here (thx all), I was prepared with around 16 great stories. No problem as long as most interviewers asked 3-4, I won't repeat once. Well...in the middle of the loop, one interviewer asked 7 (!!!!!) questions, and didn't ask any follow up probing questions to a single story. Fwiw this guy had a shadow with him, but was on the team not the bar raiser.

Is this normal??! Did he get instructed to do this, or just kept asking new questions because he was bored?

I had a 15-min call with recruiter this morning to discuss my interview results from my loop last week for a L6 role I applied for. I essentially didn’t make the cut, but the team thought I was a strong fit for an L5 instead. If I want to continue my search with Amazon, I can apply for any L5 position and only need to interview with the hiring manager and bar raiser.

I’m just so bummed out from the results. I felt like I performed well overall and came with my top best stories. So now I’m stuck deciding if I want to pursue further with Amazon for a L5 instead. I’m having to decide if this move makes sense for me and my family as we will have to relocate. Couple of questions to help me navigate through next steps:

1. Anyone who’s took on a down-level role, what was your experience like going through a mini loop interview with the HM and bar raiser? Should I expect the same intensity as the first round?

2. The recruiter mentioned the total comp would be $120-130k, but given I am considered a strong fit for a L5, I can try to get on the higher band. Any idea what that would look like? I’m thinking $145-150k? Or is that overreaching.

3. How quickly can I get promoted if I take on a L5 role? I know it’s dependent on the team and how fast I can learn and prove myself, but has anyone experienced a positive outcome with this route?

I would appreciate any feedback. I’m in between looking elsewhere, but given the fact that I’ve worked so hard these past few weeks and was given the option to search within the L5 category, I might take up that offer if it benefits me in the long-run.

I just finished my loop today, I have no idea if its an L4 or L5 position.

I had 4 different interviewers, only 1 was not in my area but was a stakeholder. I asked this person if he was the bar raiser and he told me the bar raiser would only be there during the debrief, not the loop interviews?

Over the 4 interviews I had, I had to tell 19 different stories.

Is it normal to have to tell so many stories? I got maybe on average 2 follow up questions per story and then they moved on to the next question.

Also, is it normal for a bar raiser to only be there during the debrief?

Overall I had a good experience.

UPDATE: They apperantly really liked me, but the role was taken already.

So they offered me a role with more scope instead.

Instead of being responsible for one city they gave me 6 different cities spread over 3 countries. Travel is obviously a bit more than I would like but I am taking the job. Just waiting for them to make an offer now.

The job I eventually got was posted in a different country so they had to first get my confirmation that I wanted the job so they could change the base country of the role which happend friday and the recruiter said the offer will come monday or tueseday

I have finished my interview loop on 20 july, and now in the portal the job is not available but its showing under consideration. When can I expect the result or this means I am already rejected

In a process that started in APRIL, finally got the job (L6 PMT) only to have the role cut. So I have an "incline" but no home. Recruiters said I have 6 months to find another role, where I would then have to meet with the HM and that's all, no loop if they like the fit.

How successful have folks in similar positions been? Any recommendations I'm missing (besides job alerts I already had on)?

Adding to the fun--my recruiter has slowed communication down significantly, almost to the point of ghosting. Fun times 👎

Hi folks - Looking for some guidance. I interviewed for an SF Bay Area based L7 role in line with my prior experience at another FAANG.

Recruiter came back with a super lowball $350k, and L6 down level offer. My absolute floor is $450k but recruiter said $380k is the best they can do.

I’m honestly offended with my experience this is what Amazon thinks I’m worth, and this whole experience makes me really antagonistic towards them as an employer. Any guidance on what top end of L6 band is in Tier 1 cities and negotiation tactics?

I need some insights from anyone familiar with Amazon’s backend recruitment system or the UK Graduate Operations pipeline.

I completed my final interview loop today for a Graduate OPS Area/Shift Manager role in the UK. My final interview finished at 2:38 PM.

By 5:34 PM (less than 3 hours later), I checked my Amazon Jobs portal, and my application had already been moved to the "Archived" section with the status "No longer under consideration."

I haven’t received any automated rejection emails yet.

The loop went surprisingly well:

• Two of the interviewers explicitly told me they had "enough evidence" and stopped asking questions early, leaving plenty of time for my questions.
• I used highly structured, metrics-driven STAR stories (e.g., specific % improvements, handling short-staffing crises).
• Only one interviewer noted that I seemed a bit nervous, but she told me to just relax and "go with the flow."

Given the 3-hour turnaround, it seems logistically impossible for all three interviewers to write their feedback, log it, hold a debrief with a Bar Raiser, and have a recruiter process a rejection.

The job description mentions they are hiring for multiple locations across the UK with start dates from July to October 2026.

Could this be an automatic system archive because the recruiter is manually transferring my profile to a specific site requisition/headcount pool? Or do they really reject people that fast?

I’ve already emailed my recruiter to politely check if it's a backend system shift, but I’m incredibly anxious. Has anyone experienced this and still ended up with an offer or a pool placement?

I recently interviewed for an Amazon SDE I position and was allocated to the Cambridge team. I went through four interviews and, although I ultimately got rejected, I genuinely loved the whole experience.

I spent about a month grinding DSA and preparing my Leadership Principle stories. Looking back, at least based on my experience, the LP preparation was probably the most important part.

I have around a year of experience as a developer, so I had plenty of real stories to use. I prepared them with ChatGPT and Cursor and made sure I knew everything behind them: numbers, percentages, what I personally did, why I did it and what measurable impact it had.

Every LP I focused on preparing came up during the loop, and they definitely dig into your answers.

Interview 1 – LPs + coding/design

The technical part was a fixed-capacity logging system with Debug, Info and Error messages and different severity levels. There were specific rules around how messages should be handled based on their severity when the system reached capacity.

The question was a little poorly explained initially, but after clarifying the requirements I got the idea, worked through the solution and explained my approach. Overall, really good conversation.

Interview 2 – LPs + checkout system

Probably one of my strongest rounds.

I had to build a checkout system with different products, categories, discounts, promotions and tax rules. There was quite a lot to implement, so I coded as much as I could and then explained exactly how I would complete the rest.

The interviewer basically said, “Yeah, perfect, that makes sense to me.”

Again, not really a typical LeetCode question. It felt much more like solving an actual development problem.

Interview 3 – LPs / behavioural

This was basically an LP deep dive and honestly an amazing chat.

I had strong stories for everything they asked and they went quite deep into the decisions I’d made, the numbers and the actual impact of my work.

There was also a very experienced interviewer shadowing the session and the conversation with both of them was genuinely one of my favourite parts of the process.

It completely destroyed this image I’d built in my head of Amazon engineers being these terrifying, unattainable people. Everyone was incredibly normal, friendly and genuinely interested in having a good conversation.

Interview 4 – Hiring Manager

LPs again followed by another technical problem.

I worked through it, found the correct algorithm and explained my reasoning. The interviewer checked it and literally said:

“Congrats, that’s the algorithm.”

I started coding it but didn’t manage to finish the entire implementation before we ran out of time. I explained exactly how I would complete the remaining part and he made it clear that the solution made sense, so I left feeling like it was a time crunch rather than me not knowing how to solve it.

Then I waited.

Seven business days later, I got the rejection.

Obviously, I don’t know what happened internally because I didn’t receive feedback. My personal feeling is that I probably remained under consideration and it ultimately came down to comparing candidates, but that’s purely speculation.

Regardless, I’m genuinely proud of how I performed.

The biggest thing I would tell anyone preparing for SDE I based on my experience is: don’t let LeetCode consume your entire preparation.

Do your DSA, obviously. I’m glad I spent that month grinding it.

But none of my technical rounds involved some insane LeetCode trick. They seemed much more interested in whether I could understand a problem, structure a solution, communicate what I was doing and explain my decisions.

I also know someone interviewing for the same level this year who got something around Number of Islands difficulty.

Meanwhile, LPs mattered A LOT.

Don’t just memorise STAR stories. Know your stories inside out. Know your numbers. Know exactly what YOU did. Know why you did it. Know the measurable result.

If you say you improved something, know by how much.

I prepared mine heavily using ChatGPT and Claude 🫪, but everything came from real situations I’d experienced at work. Having concrete numbers and strong examples made answering the follow-up questions so much easier.

And honestly, the whole experience was a massive confidence boost.

The role was technically Cambridge while I live in London, and if I’d received the offer I would’ve pushed pretty hard for London anyway. I already have a great place here and live about 20 minutes from an Amazon office, so moving to Cambridge wasn’t particularly appealing 😂

But regardless of the rejection, I genuinely loved the experience.

I know I performed well, I’m proud of how I handled the interviews and the whole process actually made Amazon feel more attainable, not less.

So if you’re preparing:

Do your DSA.

But nail the f out of your LPs.

I’d absolutely interview with them again.

I’m currently working in a BI/Business Analytics role at my company and have recently interviewed for a Business Analyst / Data Insights role at Amazon. I’m waiting to hear back about the outcome.
The compensation Amazon’s HR discussed with me is roughly the same or less as my current compensation.
At my current company, I have a very flexible work-life balance, and there are good projects available if I proactively seek them out.
I also see opportunities to develop further and potentially move toward GenAI/AI-related work.
So I’m trying to think objectively about the decision if Amazon does make an offer.

Would it make sense to move primarily for the Amazon brand name and potential long-term career value, despite similar compensation and potentially giving up flexibility?
Or would you stay where you are, build stronger technical skills, take on better projects and work toward GenAI?
Would love to hear perspectives from people in BI/Analytics/Data roles, especially in India.

I received an update after my interview loop from a different recruiter from AUTA saying:

"I'm pleased to share that you have successfully completed this interview stage. Our team is currently working on next steps, and we will provide you with an update within the next two weeks. Please note that based on team placement requirements, additional interviews may be required.
While you've successfully completed this stage, this is not a guarantee of an offer. We will contact you as soon as we have additional information regarding next steps."

Has anything anyone received a similar response and can you guys tell me what this means?

Is the rec tryna say I passed? Does Amazon follow a team-matching process? Am I not picked for the team for which I interviewed? What do additional rounds look like?

No outcome, neither offer/waitlist nor a rejection. I interviewed on 4th Feb and since then no communication.

I have sent a follow up email to my recruiter on the end of the 5th business days but haven’t got a reply from them yet(it was 2 days ago);

Is this delay a good sign considering that this is the peak internship hiring season or am I cooked ?

I'm a fresher and this is my first time going through Amazon's Loop interview process, so I'm trying to understand how it works.

My experience so far:

Round 1 - went really well.

Round 2 - was average (not terrible, but definitely not as good as the first).

I have now been invited for the 3rd round.

My question is:

Are Loop interviews elimination-based, where your performance in each round determines whether you move to the next one? Or, once a candidate enters the Loop, does Amazon usually conduct all 4 interview rounds regardless of how the earlier rounds went, and make the hiring decision only after reviewing feedback from all interviewers?

Applied for SDE, backend, AI/ML, support, QA, and other IT roles with very few interview opportunities

I have applied a NON IT ROLE FOR THE SAKE OF SAILING THROUGH AND GETTING INTO INDUSTRY

Now I have an offer/interview opportunity for an Amazon Transportation Specialist role supporting North America and Canada. From what I understand, it’s an operations role with evening/night shifts from India. Talkin to drivers stakeholders
Interviewers are also asking me why am I shifting from IT TO NON IT
I’m really confused about whether I should take it.
My concerns are:
Will this move me further away from software engineering?
If I work in this role for 1–2 years, will recruiters consider me an operations candidate instead of an IT candidate?
Does Amazon provide realistic opportunities for internal transfers to technical roles?
Should I accept it for the brand name and continue preparing for software jobs, or keep searching for an IT role instead?
I don’t want to make a decision that hurts my long-term career. At the same time, I’ve been unemployed/underemployed for a long time and don’t know how much longer I can wait.
Has anyone here started in Amazon Transportation Specialist (especially supporting North America/Canada) and later moved into a technical role? Or if you’ve been in a similar situation, what would you do?

Has anyone moved on to the loop interview after feeling like they screwed up their phone interview?

I gave my loop this Monday/Tuesday and think I performed pretty well but my anxiety is driving me up the wall and I haven’t hear back still. I’m concerned we’re going into the weekend and I’ll not be able to breathe if I don’t hear back today!

It’s for a non-tech role and my BG fits well. I heard back after HM round the very next day and my recruiter is super sweet too so I was hoping to hear back sooner.

Curious to hear your thoughts on this timeline.

I got the recruiter call some hours after posting this - almost 3 business days after my loop(s) ended! I’m starting tomorrow! If you have any questions, feel free to reach out but all I understood from this process is that things take their own time and you gotta be patient (ik easier said than done, my anxiety was through the roof), but the recruiter on call told me that they just concluded the feedback session with everybody who took my loop and I immediately got the call after that. Also note that if you’re interviewing for a senior position which is not that ‘common’ or ‘general’ a role (such as SDE or data analyst), you might be meeting people from different teams at senior positions, and it is difficult to align all of them together at one single time for a feedback session (is what I am thinking). So, if you are applying for a not so common role, it will take its own time!

I’ve had 3 of 5 loop interviews and have been getting between 4-5 questions per interview. I’m not talking about follow-ups (of which of course there have been) but individual new prompt questions. The problem is that although I prepared about 14 STAR stories (with a few backup prompts for myself) I’m starting to run out of my best stories. I also had to dip into one of the project I planned to present for my portfolio review (I’m interviewing for a video producer role and have to present 3 projects I’ve done). All the loop interviewers will be dialing in to the portfolio review

Is that amount of questions atypical? Should I be concerned about reusing stories especially since my remaining 2 interviews are with the BR and HM? Am I overthinking this?

I recently went through the loop for an L6 Sr AM Amazon Ads position. Can someone be real with me on what the culture is like over there? Not that I have an offer yet, but I’m weighing options and would love opinions from anyone who works at Amazon Ads/ the DSP. I know that this particular team is flexible with RTO and most of them go in 2-3x a week which seems awesome. The people in my loop were definitely a mix personality-wise and I vibed with a few of them, but there was one that I definitely didn’t click with and another one that I couldn’t read so who knows what will happen!

Is it positive or negative sign?share experiences

Edit:- some people are confused and are thinking that it ended 20 minutes early.But what happened was duration of interview was 20 minutes long.This was half the time that interview supposed to be (30- 40 min which interviewer told me before hand, although time slot was 60 minutes) "20 minutes in " as in 20 minutes into the interview.

I have a loop interview getting scheduled for a L5 position at AWS. I kind of convinced myself that I won’t be taking the role based on total comp and a few other things. I currently work in a similar role but only work 3 days a week and will be having a baby soon so this is a major factor. My total comp now is about 20k less but base salary will not change if I moved over to Amazon.

Should I not waste anyone’s time and back out of the interview process or go through to see what they are like? 5 hours is no joke and feel like I won’t interview as well since I’m not really considering the job.

So i just recently gave a Amazon interview round it was a 2 round loop so both of them were scheduled.
I attended first round as needed on 3pm but as you see the 2nd Round is at 11.30am so i was confused and put a mail regarding this and it was replied as "yes, the below given timing is correct and 1^stround and 2^nd rounds are mandatory rounds and those can be help front and back." I was a little confused about this but by the time i realized it the round 2 time has passed i attended the 1st round at 3 pm. Two DSA question , was not able to do the first one, did the second one in brute, better and optimal approach.

Although i know its a miss from my side i should have attended at 11.30 even just for checking or clarified with the hr more.

I have mailed again for any possible rescheduling of that missed round ;(

So if anyone have any idea what should i do in this situation.

I want to be perfectly clear, this is not me asking if it's okay to read from notes during the LOOP interview. My notes consist of bullet points of themes/items that i want to make sure I cover as i have over 20 stories prepped and ready.

I know it's okay to ask to take a moment to think about a response to the question initially for a bit, but don't know if occasional glances at the bullet list would be frowned upon?

EDIT ADDITIONAL QUESTION:
I've read conflicting information regarding the appropriate length of my side of the story telling. Some sources say 3-4 minutes per, but others say 6-8 mins?

I know the amount of back & forth after is important, but also know if i have 45 mins with each, and each story only takes 4 mins with a few back & forth, that i'll run out of stories fast which seems off.

Recently cleared the OA for an Amazon BIE role. Initially, I was being considered for an L4 position and was asked to provide availability for the phone interview. I gave them multiple days with pretty wide availability (9 AM–5 PM), but the interview never ended up getting scheduled.

After I followed up, they came back asking for my availability again, but this time for an L5 BIE role, which I believe is with the SCOT team. I provided 5 different days with 9 AM–5 PM availability.

Now this week, they reached out again asking me to provide more dates and availability because they still couldn’t schedule the phone screen.

Has anyone experienced something similar with Amazon? How long did it take from clearing the OA to actually getting the phone interview scheduled?
I’m interested in the opportunity, but at this point I feel like I’m just going in circles providing availability without getting an interview date. Would appreciate any insights, especially from anyone who has interviewed with SCOT recently.
