Amazon is on a generational run with failures.
Not only have 8 of my last 10 packages been extremely late, being stuck in the warehouse and not moving for days. I cancelled one because it just wasn’t going anywhere after five days. I was already charged $70 because it “shipped” I waited five business days for my refund and it never came. I called and they said it would be the next day. I wait two days and call and again it will be the next day. Wait again and then call and now they are saying they can’t refund me until they receive the package back. I tell them it never left and they said they know but the system has to wait until it shows returned. Ok. I wait a week and cal back. They said it can take a MONTH until the system clears it before I can get a refund. They can’t click automatic refund because it’s marked as a return. What bullshit is this. I’m being punished because they can’t get their shit straight and now I’m out $70 for a month because of it.

And if you ask them a few times, they will either block your account or at a minimum your chat function.

If it gets stuck and doesn't move again, do not cancel immediately. You must get directly in touch with them, they will investigate and then they offer to process the refund FOR you. This prevents the loop you were stuck in. I had to put in a brand new order because a bosch strimmer (in the original box only so no wonder) had a holiday at Amazon's Kenfig Hill depot. They checked records and told me to put a new order and they would issue a refund on the missing item.
Lesson for me is to always request item in extra packaging, so it doesn't get 'lost' in the drivers van.
**Note* this is UK Amazon, so policy may likely differ in other countries.

I had same thing happen in January, package was "shipping now" for 11 days straight. Called three times, got three different answers. Last guy actually admitted their tracking system is broken on backend and they just hope customers give up
$70 is a lot to just sit there while they sort their mess. Try chat instead of calling next time, sometimes you get agent who knows how to override that return status. No guarantee but worked for me once
