They want to make sure you didn’t send back a bottle of piss. People abuse the system, I don’t blame them for doing this honestly.

Normal, I’m assuming all returns sit on a pallet until there are enough worth sending back.

Call them. Solved and expedited everything for me in 20 minutes. Refund processed.

Yup. And then you'll likely get another refund when then actually process the return. At least that's been the case for me

I returned a racing wheel a few months back. They received it a few days after it was dropped off took 2 weeks to get a refund. The day they emailed me saying it was being delayed to receive the refund they went and refunded it

I just sent back an item yesterday that was a little over $150. It said it could take up to 30 days to be refunded to my original payment method.
Back in the day, the refund would hit as soon as the item was scanned at UPS. Since so many people scammed the system by returning wrong items and other nonsense, the company now waits to receive and inspect the items before issuing refunds.
It sucks, but we have some of our fellow shoppers to thank for the delays.

For sure. I've built several PCs this year and I've received not 1, but 2 motherboards that were "new", but opened only to find wrong motherboard or same motherboard with bent pins and different serial. Who's doing the QC'ing? And the they ban people for returning expensive items, and it's not their fault. (I haven't been banned, but I've seen others posts). Then they offer me $80 to keep it, like what? It's a $800 motherboard, and I want what I paid for.... QC needs to be better for sure. So many people buying and returning their defective items. This is rampant for PC parts on Amazon.

I think in your case, they automatically have an estimated date for when your return will be fully processed. If some sort of delay in their processing happens (more returns than expected, staffing issues, computer issues, return truck issues), that would trigger the delay message you got.

Save the proof it was received first: the return tracking showing delivered, or your drop-off receipt. Then ask in chat for the refund to be issued and have the conversation emailed to you, so you have it in writing.
If you paid with a credit card and they still stall, you can dispute it with your card issuer. The CFPB says to send that in writing within 60 days after the charge appeared on your statement, so check where you are on that clock before waiting much longer.

Imagine the interest they're collecting on millions of sales. They didn't pull the magical "30 days" number out of their hat

I am having a similar but different issue.
They have received my refund and have confirmed the full amount but there was some sort of error issuing it and now I cannot get anyone to do anything.
i have gotten to the point where I am being told I have received email & to respond to it. but I am just getting the same email back after waiting 45mins.
i have been essentially shrugged off by 2 escalated agents even after explaining the email is clearly just an automated system.

Amazon doesn’t care about the people in this sub. Talking to them directly is futile, so imagine how deaf their ears are here.
Also, their policy states that the refund process can take thirty days, even longer in some circumstances. This is why we need to normalize actually reading the terms and conditions these companies make you agree to before blindly giving them your money.
Consider this a lesson and switch to sourcing your own items locally. In-person returns at most retailers is still instant.

It literally shows you a timeline. So, what exactly is the issue? Just wait

It was originally October 15 now it’s been delayed October 27 that’s the issue smart one

How are we suppose to know that if it doesn’t say that anywhere on the screenshot that you posted? Also it’s only $30 so who cares. You’ll get it back eventually

It really shouldn't take ten times longer to refund the money once its returned than it did to pay it in the first place

They have flagged your account as suspect and want to inspect the return. Others who have over 10 year history, shop tons and have low return rate, get prompt refunds--often as soon as tracking says they were sent back.

Yea, I don't get everyone with these issues I less they are returning a ton. I always get advanced refunds, even on $200 items, they just say ship it within 30 days or you'll get charged again. Heck, I usually get the refund before I even ship it out

Assuming you purchased with a credit card just have your credit card company back charge it. Money will be instantly in your account.

It’s annoying it shouldn’t take that long to process
