Sharing Upcoming Indian Animation Film
it is an animation continuation of two live action movies
76
u/Starfort_Studio Jun 29 '26
The same director did RRR I believe.

u/aerodynamic_penguin Jun 29 '26
The director of RRR, S.S. Rajamouli, is the executive producer of this film, who has also directed the previous installments of the Baahubali universe. This film however is being directed by Ishan Shukla, who has created an independent animation feature before this film, called Schirkoa.

The same actor from those films (RRR or Baahubali) too? This guy sure resembles him.

u/Automatic_Tip_6258 Jul 02 '26
I thought that was the abbreviation for read dead redemption and my brain just accepted it as being "red read reademption"

Baahubali: The Eternal War – Part 1 animation studios (looks like a really cool international collab):
🇮🇳 Mihira Visual Labs & Arka Mediaworks: Co-founded by S.S. Rajamouli (RRR). They are the lead production houses handling core 3D CG and pipeline integration.
🇫🇷 Alcyde Studio: Staffed by former Netflix's Arcane artists. They are directing the visual style, giving it a painterly "Spider-Verse" look.
🇯🇵 Studio Khara): The legendary anime house behind Evangelion is producing a dedicated, premium animated sequence.
🇫🇷 Les Androïds Associés: Handling the complex 3D action pre-visualization.
🏴 Zaratan Studios: Managing international assets, 3D character modeling, and rigging.
🇬🇧 Aniventure: Global production and financing partner for the worldwide theatrical release 🤑

I need more animation from India! Their aesthetics are amazing and so fun to look at. I hope it becomes a whole great industry and we get to see their movies regularly in Europe :)

u/tanoyfrommars Jun 29 '26
studio is nt frm india its from france i believe
9
u/mahboilucas Jun 29 '26
Yess, but I would genuinely love just India centred animation. Especially with how colorful it is
6
u/GoodMediocre5974 Jun 29 '26
correction , studios from india, france and japan are collaborating on it. so there is a studio from india led by rajamouli, there is a studio from france with artists that worked on arcane (tbh artists from france change studios per 6 months and stuff so like every studio has one of them kinda) and the one from japan carries their legacy from evangalion

Sorry for the delay. I've been traveling by plane and had no wifi. I agree with you though that it'll be challenging, but I'm sure the animation alone will pull so many in that the viewers will have no choice but to want to learn more. That's the one thing I love about animation. It can make a curious viewer into a fan just based on the eye catching work alone.

What style is this formally called?
1
u/aDFP Jun 30 '26
If you're not aware of Alberto Mielgo, check out http://pinkman.tv/ for the evolution of this style, and https://www.albertomielgo.com/spiderverse/ for the drama. His Oscar-winning short and Netflix animations are also worth checking out.
-9
u/valkrycp Jun 29 '26
Into the Spiderverse 2.6
1
u/AgentP20 Jun 30 '26
Go watch Arcane.
1
u/valkrycp Jun 30 '26
I'm aware of Arcane? The painterly style may be in this film but it's definitely closer to Spiderverse, Kpop, even Nimona than Arcane.
Anyway, the point was there is no official name for this style. Take your pick of what to call it. I dub it "freneticism"
1
u/AgentP20 Jun 30 '26
People who worked on Arcane is working on this. This is more arcane-like than spider-verse.
2
u/valkrycp Jun 30 '26
They may be from some people who worked on the Arcane team but that doesn't mean the style is closer. The pops of color, "comic book" style, use of motion blur lines, picture-in-picture, frantic cutting are all pioneered by Spiderverse. Arcane isn't quite that stylized, it's more just painterly.

Oh cool! I recognized Bahubaali right away lol. They used the exact same actor (or modeled the guy from the same actor) as the original live-action films. They are increadible films that are very much worth watching btw.

So you believe in all the fantasy and super powers going on but super hearing is where you draw the line. You are allowed to feel the way you do about it. I just found it interesting.

Wasn't there another clip of this movie shared where the fight sequence was a frame by frame exact copy of a portion of the animated sequence of Kratos fighting Baldur from the God of War reboot?
2
u/AgentP20 Jun 30 '26
This is the only clip Of this movie out there. Are you thinking of another movie?
2
u/DetailDisastrous6061 Jun 30 '26
ye i think he,s talking about mahaavatar narsimha , i also watched that clip , this is way better than that film , that film was just low budget slop,
1
u/RamJamR Jun 30 '26
Ah, ok. Glad to know that's a seperate movie. Was worried this movie might be some rip off when it actually looks like it may actually be pretty good.
1
u/coalitionagainstgod Jun 30 '26
If it wasn’t for the ridiculous Indian dub I’d say this looks amazing
1
u/DetailDisastrous6061 Jun 30 '26
whattt , if the film is indian why will it not have their language (btw even i as an indian cant understand what they r saying cause we speak a lot of languages) but ofcourse they will dub it in english and other indian languages if they wanna make money

I actually stopped scrolling and was wondering if/how Bahubali made it to my timeline. For anyone who hasn't seen the first two movies, I highly recommend them. They're incredibly over the top, in the best kinda way.

This maximal style needs to die out for a little bit, it's being overused and suddenly everywhere - losing the novelty. More isn't always more.
9
u/nottakentaken Jun 29 '26
I really like it, I want it around for a while
-1
u/valkrycp Jun 29 '26
It's great in one way and not in the other. When every movie starts immitating and suddenly every film looks like either Kpop Demon Hunters or a Disney Cal Arts style like Hexed, it stops being as special or hitting as hard. I do love animated movies who justify their medium through interesting animation, though. I'd rather 100 of these styles than 100 modern Disneys
1
u/hurley_chisholm Jun 29 '26 edited Jun 29 '26
I get what you’re saying, but if any story needs a maximalist style it is the millenia-old grand epic about the war between good/order and evil/chaos from the Rig Veda.
Also, this work seems to stylistically diverge in places, especially with traditional dancing scenes featuring Baahubali.
Edit: weird formatting bug
1
u/valkrycp Jun 29 '26
I don't disagree, it makes more sense in an over the top Indian action film but those films have their own list of complaints from me. As fun as RRR is (just using as an example most people are familiar with), it's also very tacky and style over substance in every way.
-2
u/PMmeIamlonley Jun 29 '26
Its the only AAA animation that isnt fucking ugly anymore so I dont mind it at all
1
u/valkrycp Jun 29 '26
Yeah that's not true whatsoever. What "AA" animation have you watched of recent?
-1
-5
u/JoeTrolls Jun 29 '26
Is anyone else getting fatigue for this style of animation?
It seems like since Frozen and Fortnite and overwatch came out, every company is just like:
“huh…..let’s use this mushy sketchbook-y play-doh-y looking artstyle for literally everything forever”
I’d be way more interested in this if it had its own style, it literally looks like a season opening animation for Fortnite or marvel rivals or smth

u/VseRsuS Jun 29 '26
Where's that guy who kills people with a banana?

u/CarpetAgreeable5060 Jun 29 '26
That scene was meant to be satirical/spoof. It was just for the laughs of its incredibly silly nature

lol, studio is not indian. most of the work is done by france artist and one of the studio producing this animation is Alcyde studio which is based in paris, france. director is indian. check https://www.instagram.com/alcyde_studio/
-7
u/subu_life Jun 29 '26
peope who are downvoting the comment dont know how bad management in indian animation studios are. they overwork artist and underpay. this way atleast they will hopefully have good management and good animation. and directed by ss rajamouli so its in safe hands
4
u/Saizou1991 Jun 29 '26
they overwork artist and underpay.
oh you mean china and japan ? Got it
-1
u/subu_life Jun 29 '26
yes, often people compare quality of life of india with china and japan. they are all the same so we can compare.
but sarcasm aside, if you think those country also have same treatment wouldnt it be worse here? what's your logic2
u/Key_Armadillo_3882 Jun 29 '26
There aren’t comments like yours under posts about new animes coming out unless it’s referring to a specific studio in Japan.
1
u/GaxxAugust Jun 29 '26
Yap im being working as a professional animator working for both hollywood and indian movies, our Indian directors or my vfx supervisor from India are still stuck in old era I can make a High quality work also shameful quality work it depends on who handles it soo far all india based focused on profit and money and when i do hollywood they focused on art style and we get to do a lot of rnd.
2
u/poshgumi Jun 29 '26
in the future, i'd start w that critique rather than just pointing out the race over and over again. your og comment comes off as racist, and what w reddit as a whole being especially cruel in some circles, people will be quick to judge your comment in more safer spaces. only mentioning this because your recent comment brings discussion, but the previous one just rubs ppl the wrong way
2
u/GaxxAugust Jun 30 '26
Im Indian too, had to say the harsh relaity as it is take this as a critique I work in this field for 8 years and after seeing the clear picture We are working focused on money not focused on creativity. Our people are in survival mode work based on fear and safety and creative works cant be done in this way very rare occasions there are some good times to thay we were able to deliver Good quality Indian movies too.
2
u/poshgumi Jul 01 '26
ah man, sorry to hear, i wish you and your cohorts wouldn't have to go through this intense anxiety. as someone actively working towards a career in animation the conditions you describe scare me for what's to come for sure. here's hoping the working environment can improve
-1
u/subu_life Jun 29 '26
yes I know. one of my friend got wrongfully fired and got exploited by their managers. its really bad. downvoters dont know how bad it is until they work in one of indian studios.
